Belfry lead series 25-4-0

1988 was the year that Belfry used ineligible players and were forced to forfeit the JC game and their district title. Without those players Belfry lost in the opening round of the playoffs to a 5-6 Ashland team. JC finished in a 3 way tie for district runner-up with Breathitt Co and Clay Co. Breathitt (who JC beat that season) won the tie breaker and lost 13-8 to Russell in the playoffs. Ashland would beat Russell in the rematch and lose a close game (6-0) to eventual 3A Champ Covington Catholic. Note: the 88' JC team was lead by Marshall All-American Chris Deaton and was one of the best JCHS team of the 80's. The 88' team was handicapped by a first year coach who had never been a head Football coach at the Varsity HS level!

Belfry lead series 25-4-0

The 1985 game is a game I remember very clearly! The men in stripped uniforms had a major impact on the outcome of this game! Belfry would go on and make a deep playoff run and would lose in the 3A championship game. Note: Yes the JC political process set a very good 85' JCHS team back! Yes. another first year Head Coach (who had never been a HS Varsity head coach before) loses to Haywood!

The 86' Belfry team was one of the best teams in the history of Eastern Kentucky football! I had a sideline view of the 2012 Belfry team and IMO the 86' team would have been a 30 point favorite over them. What I remember about the 86' Belfry team is they were BIG, MEAN and NASTY, throw in a smart and very smooth QB, add in depth and size, sprinkle in a POWER running game with a Fullback who too this day is the best I ever saw! Note: I never seen a fullback like that cat from 86' Belfry team!! I would describe him as a 240lb bowling ball with legs and if he could have spit fire I wouldn't of been surprised!

That FB would be none other than Doug "Devil" Webb. Yes he has been known to spit fire!!!
Belfry wins this one!
Is it Friday yet!?
I can't believe the regular season is nearly over!!! We just kicked the season off!!!

I won't be tweeting...but I should be able to keep updates on the site.

Congession I am a hunt and peck-er. I never learned to tyle the right way... I am very fast nonetheless. I should just learn to type rught because I just typed this entire messafe without loojubg at my jeyboard as ab example of how it would look if I tried it correctly.
Don't get me wrong, I like this Belfry team and expect them to be in Bowling Green this year. With that being said, I also think they are making way to many mistakes this late in the season. Johnson Central is not a team to have a bad game or make several mistakes. Johnson Central seems to be the real deal this year. I have not seen them in person, but going by everything I have been told I think they pull away in this one.

Johnson Central 42
Belfry 21

If this series continues, I think in 2015 & 2016 Belfry will roll. 2014 could be a good one.

Confusednicker:

Not something I am proud of but, I was the quickest at typing in my class. Just a very competitive person. I work with some hunt & peckers and it drives me crazy.

In case you have noticed by some of my post English was my worst class. Confusednicker:

Not sure why you would think that. JC JV and Frosh are both undefeated this season. The freshmen team has beaten Belfry 3 times this season. The 8th grade team is the defending state champs with a chance to repeat this year as they compete in the final four of division 1 this weekend. Things are looking great in Johnson County for years to come.
The Pirate 8th grade team is also looking to defend their state championship as well this weekend. I have heard the Belfry / JC 8th grade games have been awesome games. I think these two will continue to be a playoff readiness test for years to come.

Won't go nearly as far as the other poster as I see Belfry/JC being a war the next 4 years... but keep in mind Belfry starts 4 phenomenal Freshman on their Varsity that are not playing in those games.

Kind of funny that the Freshman teams played 3 times... I guess that goes to show the value of competition HAHA

The 8th grade teams required 3 total overtimes to determine a winner. Both teams have a LOT to look forward to.
This is going to be a game. From the first to last play!!

JC also has freshmen who did not play in the games. I agree with you though. I just don't think Belfry will "roll" in 15 and 16. This should be a great series for many years.

There is no mountain program I respect more than Belfry. Before JC turned into JC, Belfry was King of the Mountains. They are still at the top...they just have company now.

Lol

We have a typewriter where I work. I have actually had teenagers come in and ask me what it was lol.
Pray for a injury free game on both teams!! I have a lot of respect for the Belfry program but am a JC fan. So lets all after the Friday night game give due respect for the winner . I hate nothing more than reading about excuses why we lost!!!! Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
Shu, 29hrs and 15 min to go.
is the heavy rain sup2 b out of the way by game time?
cuppett777 Wrote:is the heavy rain sup2 b out of the way by game time?

As of right now its supposed be 67 degrees here in
the daytime and 47 degrees tomorrow night with only
a 20% chance of rain. Perfect weather for the big
game tomorrow night.
