Pikeville seems to be turning things around quickly. Big win from the panthers and great team effort win. Hard to win on the road especially in a district matchup and they went in and got business done. Congrats!

people aren't ready for the conversation of Ian Oknst being the best player in the region.

Because he’s not. He’s a good player but Watts is much better. Heck, Keathley as a sophomore at Prestonsburg is a better player if we’re being honest.

Congratulations to Elisha Justice and the Pikeville Panthers tonight on their big time district win! To put it lightly, Justice put Taylor in a coaching blender tonight. Also, Ian Onkst…#POTY?

He's not. Stewart at PC and Watts at Martin County are the two best players. Can make a case for Keathley. Onkst lost to all three of those players teams. Slone at JC and Cole at Paintsville you could make a case are better players.

More athletic, better at getting to the rim, better shooter, better defender. Watts is one of the most athletic kids in the last 20 years in the region. He does NBA level dunks in game.

FG Shooting (2 and 3 pt)
Onkst 52.9%
Watts 45.8%
Keathley 49.3%

FG Shooting (3 pt)
Onkst 43.6% (!)
Watts 26.4%
Keathley 26.2%

I'll take the guy who makes 44% of his threes all day long.

The difference in the game last night was Walters. Valley had no answer for him inside.

Rather have Stewart than Onkst!!!!

Big time win for Pikeville, one team you don't want to see come March if they continue to get things going.

I've said all along that Valley could be one of those teams who could end a team's season in about a month from now, but they seem to be trending in the wrong direction.

Only thing Watts has over Onkst is being more athletic and better at getting to the rim, are we forgetting that the shoots like 10 threes a game and can barely make 1 lor 2.

Both Keathley and Watts are inefficient players who dont make there team better, could say the same about stewart.

Pikeville is 0-3 against everyone of those players teams that you mentioned.

So? Which team is the best on a given night and which player is the best are two totally different arguments and have nothing to do with each other. Pikeville beat Harlan Co, last year so did they have players better than Noah? Beat North Laurel at
Rupp when Sheppard was a senior. So Sheppard wasn't as good as Pikeville players? Not a valid argument.

Jaden Stewart doesn’t make PC better?
Did I read that right….

Seems like pikeville had a lot of students show up and their fans also. Almost looked like they were playing at pikeville.

Pikeville looked like they would beat Valley 99/100 times and they would. Valley has some scoring problems and too small this year.

But I’m old enough to remember how bad the Panthers played against Prestonsburg. They’ve changed the lineup and it has helped. Some kids are starting to play better too.

I think Onkst is the best shooter in the 15th but not the best player. You have to do more than shoot. Defense, ball handling, and rebounding are part of the game too. I’d give Watts the nod. When he decides to play smart and get downhill, he is the toughest matchup. Stewart probably knows how to play better than any other player in the region but not as athletic as some others. I have to say he has improved his rebounding and defense this year. He’s always been solid offensively. Keathley is coming. Only a sophomore and has to shoot a lot for that team to be able to win but kid is putting in the work and will be the best player in the region the next 2 years if he is still here.

If the best player in the 15th is a guard who makes 25% of his threes this is the worst 15th region in history. Maybe it is.

I think he just takes really bad shots until he decides to play. How many 3s did he even shoot against Pikeville? Maybe 2. But he’s the toughest guy to stay in front of in the region. I just think they are able to goof off against a lot of teams and so he does.

Here is how I look at it, Watts has him offensively 1v1, but onkst is a much better defender and is a team player who’s efficiency is 10-1 better than watts. 1on1 watts is a better player but unfortunately basketball is 5v5 so I’ll give it to onkst.

We are usually on the same page but I can goof off, drink a 12-pack and be triple teamed and kick in 25% from halfcourt and I'm 107 years old. Kid is a good player but I'm far from sold on picking him 1st in a 15th mock draft.

3s:
Onkst 34-78
Watts 33-127

What gives here, I thought Keathley was getting flooded with D1 offers?

Stewart is a little on the lazy side. Onkst hustles throughout the game, Stewart will take plays off.

Watts has talent, attitude is questionable-  and Keathley is a player.
Onkst deserves to be in the conversation.

I think keathley is getting unofficial visits through connections with his dad. He's good. But he needs to bulk up some muscle and be tougher to be a true D1 prospect with these schools he's posting about. Not sure he's reached Cooper Flagg status just yet.
