Rooting for Belfry. Hope you bring another trophy home to the mountains. Good luck Pirates!!

As JP mentioned, why doesn't Belfry take charter buses?  Drivers for charter buses drive long trips constantly.  That is their specialty.  With the support Belfry has, I can't imagine money being a huge issue.  Maybe I am wrong.  Regardless, I am hoping and praying for safe travels for everyone.

Has Union ever played a mountain team? Or any team east of Lexington?

From a cost perspective, charter buses do not cost more and in some cases can cost less.

Does their transportation cost come out of the football budget or is it provided by the school system?

Any streams for this game??

Heard Union County does not accept cash payment at the gates. Can anyone confirm?

Please enlighten me.
Why not if the travel is over 4 hours the teams find a neutral field

For example Adair county high School is around 4 hours from belfry 3 hours from Union County both teams travel and play there instead of one team traveling 7 hours

That takes the home field advantage aspect out of it. I hate that it’s that far but Union County is hosting the state semi final for the first time in program history. That’s huge for them. The atmosphere tomorrow will be much more special than if it were a neutral site game. Some Belfry fans don’t like when I tell them this but don’t blow a 3 score lead in the 2nd half against GRC and your not in this situation

It’s not a financial thing. It’s a stick to your roots traditional thing. Just the blue collar mindset behind the program. Been taking yellow school bus across the state and out of state for years. Same could be said for the uniforms and helmets having the same style for 40 years. Some may like it, some may not but it is what it is. It’s been done by Coach Haywood since the 80s. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

It is broke if you can't get enough yellow school bus drivers like people are saying on here. I'm firmly in the yellow buses + charter buses = no one left behind camp.

Your opinion will matter when you have 8 rings and damn near 500 wins.

This is insane. Just because it’s been done that way for so long doesn’t mean it has to be like that still. kinda silly to worry about being “blue collar” and not taking a charter bus when you’re traveling across the state

That would be today then. Looks like you're behind the times in transportation and football news.

Here’s a link to a livestream from the local radio station

https://m.youtube.com/@wmskradio?
The furthest in state game that I can remember Belfry playing in was at Lloyd Memorial in the 2003 state semis. That was a blizzard and it was over 4 hour trip with the old road and Belfry. With the time change the game will be over around 1030 ET so Belfry will probably leave Union County around 11 and you know they will have to stop a couple times on the way home so it could be almost 7AM getting back to Pond Creek Saturday morning.
Play game on Saturday. Belfry can travel on Friday. If KHSAA is going to use current format, then they should help schools with cost of overnight trip.

Belfry played 7 straight years in Bowling Green.

I meant at another team’s field
Streams?
what a year.... early on belfry needed to prove they could hang against a tough running team and they did that against jc... then they needed to show they could get off a long bus trip and play a good complete game against southwestern and they did.... then they needed to show they could win a big game in a harsh environment against pikeville and they did...... then they needed to show they could win a big playoff game against rock and they did..........

and yet it comes down to this! a mixture of every challenge theyve beaten coming together and saying "prove it one more time"

you win and you play for a title
you lose and you go home

it doesnt get any better!!!!!!game day!
