Belfry at Union County 11/29

1000% agreed.   Belfry has their hands full for sure.   Long drive, excellent team…and this game is their first time to ever host a state semi game.  ……so they will be pumped up.

Gonna be a real challenge for the pond creek boys.    But….all of them usually are at this stage of the season.

15 they only lost 1 game!! Noone counted them out of anything that year considering the D1 line they had that year.
As long as there's a Varney, Woolum, or Caudill playing for pond creek I'd never count them out.
But this year is CAL or Lex Cath's year

Looking back if Belfry wouldn’t have blew the game vs GRC they would be hosting this game based on RPI points.

There isn't a question I would leave on Thursday to make the trip shorter on game day. I still dont really understand why the system is set up to make these games happen, doesn't make sense to me. Goodluck to the Pirates making this trip!

Thanksgiving happens every year, for some of these boys this opportunity won't happen again.

Thanksgiving road trip with team and fans is a blast. Big disadvantage if they make the drive Friday IMO.

Jet….I agree.  Hard to try and manage all the logistics, fatigue and general travel malaise that comes with a 6.5-8 hour trip (with stops).  I just don’t think they have a choice but to pull out right after a walk thru practice on Thanksgiving Day.   Knock a big chunk of it out …and finiah it up on Friday.   Gonna require a lot leadership from coaches and upperclassman.

They don't even have to miss Thanksgiving.

As for the game, I'll take Belfry 35-21 again.

I hope you’re right…..but I’m pretty uneasy about this one.    Seeing some film on them….they definitely have the weapons to exploit some of Belfry’s weaknesses.

IMO, we cannot play the way we did against Rock or Russell and expect to win.  We have to play better.

I agree they are good but going to be very hard for them to slow down Belfry offense IMO.

This game reminds me of the 2011 game vs Garrard County. They were making their first appearance in the state semi game. Had a real playmaker maybe best player on the field and Belfry had to make a long bus ride. Belfry pulled it out but it wasn’t easy. I’m guessing this game go similar to that one. My prediction is Belfry wins 35-28.

Unreal. 387 miles from Pond creek to Morganfield! KHSAA system sucks. Sure dont envy the Belfry fans and team having to travel that distance. Pulling for the Pirates in this one.

Heard they were getting a charter bus from Pikeville since they won’t need theirs next week

You need to go retake Trolling 101.
Try to find a team to troll that you've beaten more than once in the last 6 years.

Is there a time zone change from Belfry to Morganfield?
#55
Yes they are Central Time Zone

Belfry has to tackle if they want to win this game

This will be the longest trip in BHS history.  Early word is that the team may travel part of the way Thursday, but this is not final at all.  I will update as soon as I know their plans. From what I’ve seen, Johnson is a beast!!! Heck of a player!!

It’s not a bad facility, just an older school/field in a very rural part of KY. Out of towners looking for hotels will be better off looking in nearby Henderson, or possibly Evansville.

Pulling for Union to keep their dream season going and represent WKY at Kroger Field!

Belfry fans, I'd highly consider taking the Lexington, Elizabethtown, Owensboro route down the Bluegrass Parkway. It's a long boring drive but provides a much easier and safer path (other than deer). You'll avoid the Louisville & Evansville traffic as well as crossing the Ohio River twice which seems hectic at each crossing. The I-24 bridge from Paducah to Illinois is notorious for delays due to bad wrecks. Based on your personal plans you can choose to make the full drive Friday or stay overnight somewhere on the path.

I'd think the team would choose to stay in Elizabethtown which will take approximately 4.5 to 5.5 hours depending on stops. I'd think the boys could have a good Thanksgiving lunch, do a walk through and be on the road in time for a hotel check in by 8 or 9pm. This won't require a time change.

Friday, the total drive will be a little over 2.5 hours. Gaining the hour for time change will allow plenty of time for sleeping, then lunch before heading out.
The drive from Etown to Owensboro will take about 1.5 hours. The time zone will change leaving Hardin County (Elizabethtown) into Grayson County. The drive from Owensboro to Union Co high school will take a little over 1 hour. The entire portion of this route will most likely be hassle free with smooth bypasses around Owensboro and Henderson.

Safe travels!!

Belfry will indeed take the more southerly route and stay in Etown Thursday night.  Ty for the information!
