Bigger than that

Awesome, I haven’t seen a Yeti since I was squirrel hunting deep in the Daniel Boone National Forest back around 1997. My dog had treed a squirrel and I was looking for the thing; all at once this big gargantuan knocks me over a bluff and runs through the woods laughing and jumping….. I never saw it coming, but I’m glad he was in a “playful” mood.

From the sounds of things if some of the kids at Russell were a little more welcoming that recruit would have stayed up on the hill.

RAD- are they just throwing job applications away at the mini mart, now?

NOOOO! You don’t have a son who plays football! No job for you!!!!
#37
Yes we are sucking them in giving them minimum wage jobs at super quick. Yes he is about as big as a yeti and he’s a freshmen

Maybe Super Kwik is like a mob run speak easy….. a front for Raceland football!!!!

That’s how I always thought it was done

Are you kidding me …most Super Quick employees are the ones of multi hair colors and swing from the wrong side of the plate if you get what I’m saying

Yes- of course, I’m kidding. Playing up RAD’s “tongue in cheek” running commentary that jobs there are the secret to the recruiting efforts!!!

This site is for entertainment purposes only, right?

Does Ramdad know something about swinging from the wrong side of the plate?

I hate it for the kids at Berea not getting a win all season. I really do.
I'm a former Berea Pirate myself. Graduated in 1986 and finished ball in 1985. We were never very good. I saw 1-10, 1-10, 2-9 my first three seasons. We at least got a win each year. We had in our district, Paris who was winning state championships at the time pretty regularly. Harrodsburg, who always had a Yeast or a Dunn on the team and would compete with Paris somewhat. Mercer County (Pre Harrodsburg merge) and they had a kicker that year that could hit from inside the 45 going in. Garrard County who was ranked top 12 Class A as well as Madison High School from Richmond who actually beat Paris that year in a major upset for the district title.
We just put together a good run my senior year. Finished 6-5 after being 6-1 at one point and ranked #13 in class A at one point. A guy or two got hurt mid season and we didn't have any quality subs. Thin ranks. That's Berea, thin ranks...always.

But, the year after I graduated, I remember that the boys that were behind me told me how Raceland wanted a game going into playoffs that year where they lacked one for some reason or another. They paid Berea to come up to play late in the season. This was the fall of 1986. One of coaches for Raceland came to the head coach from Berea before the game and called him to the side and thanked him for agreeing to the game. He then told the head coach from Berea, Harold Borders, that he wanted to apologize in advance if Raceland ran up the score somewhat during the game but that there were several colleges there recruiting the Raceland players and that they wanted to put the Raceland boys in a good light recruiting wise. Borders, the head coach for Berea, then went into the locker room and informed all of the players of that conversation. The Berea boys went nuts. Berea won that game. I don't know the score, but I remember them winning and seeing one of my old buddies out later and asking him about it. At the time, I didn't know much about Raceland and he told me the story.
Berea will likely get crushed, should get beat, but my personal opinion is you NEVER overlook any team. Berea was like 3-7 at the time. Raceland overlooked the Pirates in 1986.
Go Pirates!

I wanted to thank you for remembering it.  My old buddy told me that story in 1986-7 and I couldn't remember the particulars.  I had actually tried to look into contacting him on Facebook to find out more and I've not spoken with him in probably 15 years.  I wasn't bringing up the game to open old wounds, just to point out nobody should be overlooked and that game was the point I was trying to make.  Good luck to you all and I wish your boys the best of luck after the Berea game.  Keep em healthy!

I heard he was only there 1 day. Must've been a bad day  Big Grin

He wasn’t there long before he decided to explore other options lol

And no, I’m not saying Russell is a bad school. But it’s situations like this that should allow kids to go where they feel welcomed and comfortable and not have to go somewhere based on their address.
#51
He was there about a week

6’7” 270lbs and we’ve already taught him to say I hate Pikeville! They worked him out the other day hitting some pads and stuff and he said “when do I get to hit somebody .”
