Berea at Raceland 11/8
#1
Berea vs Raceland. Thoughts?
#2
Almost bet Berea "runs out of gas" on the way there.
#3
If they were smart, they’d simply forfeit.

First round games are awkward and nonsensical. They serve no purpose past increasing the chance of injury and causing embarrassment. Getting the running clock and Raceland playing freshman is the ultimate way of rewarding the perseverance of the Berea seniors for sticking it out through tough times. Classic example of kicking a guy when he’s down. Wears me out….

Long drive to get your teeth kicked in and maybe score a TD against some freshman. Pitiful way to end a season imo.

Should just go back to District Champion & District Runner-Up making the playoffs & no one else. Current setup is a waste of time & money because the #4 seed doesn't bring any fans to draw a gate, travel too far to get a clock put on them, & a no win situation for all parties involved.

And in no situation should a winless team ever make the playoffs.

I think we should go back to 4 classes. There just isn’t enough teams competing in this state to support the need for six classes. If we do this then all four classes would be strong and we could keep the 4 teams getting in. There would be no winless teams making the playoffs and there would definitely be good competition between a 4 seed and a 1 seed ….maybe not in every Cris’s district match ups but there would definitely be more then a couple. But…..we will never go back so it’s pointless conversation.

Also….can we for the love of god classify baseball and basketball. We don’t need 6, 5 or 4 classes but three classes would be perfect for this state in those sports

Since we both know…. We’ll never go back! EVERYONE should lobby for eliminating the 1 v 4 seed game. Best compromise would be….give the 1 a true reward for winning their district- a bye! Let 2 play 3 in the first round.

Also think about this boys. We try to copy everything the state of Ohio does. They are playing 6 playoff games now. Just wait till the brilliant minds in Kentucky try to figure out how they can manage that. Hahah

I think two SUPER CLASSES might be a cool idea!

Put all the large privates in one and the small privates in another. Let those public schools who “have no problem with privates and publics playing together” choose to compete in 1-A and 6-A. The public schools that chose these classes could be assigned based on enrollment. Hypothetically, 3-A and smaller schools would go to 1-A and 4-A and larger schools would go to 6-A.

Wonder how many public schools would CHOOSE to do such a move? My guess is not enough to make it work. LOL

Let all other public schools fill out the classes of 2-A through 5-A!

Guess it depends on how bad they want to eat at Golden Corral or Giovanni's.

Will the new secret weapon be at the Berea game?
#15
If Berea plays, give that coaching staff credit for giving his seniors one last chance to play with their fellow brothers and sister( depending if any female is on the team). Those kids may know the outcome but sometimes playing along side your best friend/family just means the world.

But Rams will win big. Be a good thing to work and try some new things.

This is why I’m for playing these games . We forget about the kids. Berea actually changed my mind on this issue years ago. I’ve shared this story before. They came to Raceland in the middle of a multiple game losing streak that spans a few years. After the game their five seniors stood in the end zone giving their senior speech’s crying their eyes out just like a kid that played on a very successful team would. It’s about the kids

Objectively, no one with "zero" wins should make the playoffs. Period. End of story. If this happens, which obviously it does, the system needs to be fixed.

Subjectively, of course playing your last game as a senior is going to be emotional, no matter where you make a speech. They lost at home last Friday night. I'll guarantee you making a career ending speech would be easier and mean more at home than after getting smacked on the road and taking your last snaps against a bunch of freshman. However, since this is my subjective opinion and I have no understanding about the feelings of the Berea players or their parents, I hope the coaches have a heart felt conversation and decide as a team what they want. I would not disrespect their wishes either way. Ramdad, I think you're turning a little "bleeding heart" in your old age. C'mon man.

I totally agree with the zero wins but that’s the system we are in. The 32 smallest and the 32 largest all make it cause that’s what makes up those two classes. I don’t think there needs to be 6 classes. That one little change would fix some many issues

Preach it brother!  Heck, we were having this discussion on a thread a few years ago and I did a little homework and got some data from surrounding states and our students per class relative to theirs was laughable. The logic used by the "powers that be" is it levels the playing field and provides more opportunity for similar sized schools. Yet these same "powers that be" only give us one true post season champion in basketball. Go figure...

If you want everyone to get a last game a good solution would be to give the 1 seeds a bye week and have the 4 seeds play each other in a game that is their last game regardless of the outcome. The first round game would be the 2 & 3 seeds playing for the chance to play the 1 seed in the 2nd round.

Berea needs to FOLD its' football program. Madison Southern, Madison Central, Rockcastle Co., Garrard Co., Estill Co., all have respectable programs within 30/45 minute or less drive from Berea. I understand the "idea" of giving kids an opportunity to play, but getting your head beat in year after year is NOT WORTH IT. Usually Berea has a couple of kids that can play, but it's pathetic. Coach Thomas is a very good coach, but this is a joke!

No. We aren’t playing at Pikeville. Hearing the secret weapon will indeed be on the sidelines this week

Going to take a lot more than a secret weapon

The secret weapon wears size 18 shoes and we don’t have a jersey that will fit him.
