Bingo, would've been starting at WR next year also. Definitely did not see this coming. As a Pikeville fan I am sad but wish him the best of luck.

^^^Loss won't hurt this year at all. Next year maybe and maybe not. Loaded from JV down to Jr High down to 6th grade. Best of luck to the kid at Belfry.

Hard to understand why a student athlete would want to leave a school that is ranked in the top 10 in district state rankings overall in school, district and state. Being ranked in the top 10 in subject content in writing, math, science, reading and social studies. In addition Pikeville High is ranked 7th in the state for ACT scores. As of 2023 Pikeville is ranked 6th in academics. Don't think Belfry is ranked anywhere near(168 overall) where Pikeville is ranked in these categories. Pikeville Independant has excellent athletic facilities and tremendous community support. Pikeville has won eight class 1-a state football championships. Now, having said all this, there may be certain circumstances unknown to us that would give reason as to why the young man and his family came to this decision. Good luck to him in future success at Belfry High School.

A public school is a public school.I wasn’t sure how it worked where they accept tuition students from throughout the county. If they leave would they be required to go to school at the area they live in or can they go to any county school?
No public schools, county or independent, charge tuition. When you attend a school that is out of your home district, be it county or independent, you fill out a one page form. If both districts are in agreement then the student can attend that school and the state funding for that student goes to the school he or she is attending. This has nothing to do with athletics, the rules for athletic eligibility are not in my knowledge base but again, the rules are the same whether that public school is county or independent.
LOL, I taught and administrated in an independent school district for 31 years. We never received tuition from any transferring student from outside our district during those decades. I also lived outside of the district where I taught. One of my kids attended the district where I taught, the other attended yet another independent district outside of our home district where we live. Never any mention or even the thought of tuition ever, period.
Ya'll are thinking backwards here. Why would a school charge an out of district student to attend their school, that's what they want? I have seen the school district charge tuition for a kid to live in their district and attend another public school, but it wouldn't make sense to charge if you're the school getting the kid, not in the public sector. You're already getting state money for the extra head, where as the school district the kid is leaving is losing money. Hence the reason why they sometimes have deals with surrounding districts to charge kids that leave.

Jaydon's parents are both Belfry graduates and I was told he is real good friends with Chase and Cayden Varney.

Be nice if Belfry can get him out for basketball. He is a solid basketball player but think he quit after jr high. This is a really solid addition for Belfry football. Not sure how much he will help this year but next 2 seasons he will be a nice piece. Remember when everyone was panicking saying Belfry was losing all their talent to transfers and the days of watching Belfry be any good were long gone?

Did you forget Belfry has 8 state championships as well? As well as great facilities and community support? What about the fact that Belfry has the state of Kentucky’s all time winningest coach, and the 5th active in the entire country? Leave the decision to the family, I’m sure you pull zero weight in that area.

I don't know the situation, but when you are getting an abundance of transfers, year in and year out, everyone isn't going to be happy. I'm not saying this is the case with this young man and his family, but think of all of the kids from surrounding schools who are transferring to Pikeville and competing for playing time. Eventually, you are going to have kids who are going to look elsewhere to finish their high school careers. It doesn't have to be solely based off of playing time, but it's about different personalities clashing, and not knowing where you fit in with the program. I can see how it could get frustrating, as a parent and as a player.

LOL! I am aware of 2 in and 1 out this year. Look at the Jr High and little league teams at Pikeville every year and that is 95% of the players you will see playing varsity at Pikeville in the future.

No one is doubting that. Your a 1A team with 60 kids on the roster. However Jay named him a starter as a sophomore for a reason.

^^^I get that and wish he was still here. But there is only one player Pikeville cannot win another championship without this year and it ain't him. And another excellent player was already in his spot when Pikeville defense shut out 6A GRC last week.
Again, best of luck to him and Belfry...

Corbin has proven that if you are a great high school football player and you want to play for Corbin, they will find room on their roster for you, no matter what state that you call home.
Pikeville and Belfry can't hold a candle to Corbin's in processing of transfers.

JC never benefits from several of their next door neighbors either. Not ironic at all and not sure why anyone would bash the other. Non issue and happens at every good program. Players come and go now more than ever. Muncy rotated in at corner and safety. Started a few games and didn’t start others. Pikeville has been banged up all season. All the best to the young man. Doesn’t mean much for either team involved this year.

I feel it's not that Belfry or Pikeville are bashing. It's more of sharing information on who is transferring, why he is transferring, and wishing him well.

I have zero respect for Corbin's program because their busy out of state transfer program smells very rotten. However, I would never blame players for transferring anywhere they wish - even if they choose to play transfer to Corbin as a senior.
It's the adults who are willing to do anything to win a game who turn my stomach. I don't think Johnson Central, Pikeville, or Belfry programs are run in that manner. You seem to have real issues with Johnson Central.
