Metcalf County wouldn’t beat Lloyd. I don’t think LCA would beat Lloyd either. Lloyd has a big OL. LCA struggled with big physical lines.

Did you see who Beechwood played in the playoffs... NO ONE. LCA is far better than anyone Beechwood played in the last 4 weeks.
Just shows you know nothing about what Mayfield brings to the table. Mayfield's passing game is light years ahead of Beechwood. Cartwright was the better QB than 4 star Boley from the LCA. This is your first test without Berger. You're about to see how much you really miss him.

Sounds like you think Lloyd is the second best 2A team in the state.
Can't believe anyone else on this site would agree with that.

Lloyd and Metcalfe would have been a good game, both teams were average football teams. LCA would have beaten Lloyd by 4-5 TDs.
As far as Mayfield having a much better passing game than Beechwood, not sure what that comment is based off of.

Mayfield will need to shed the penalties, avoid turnovers to get the W. I believe the Cards can but its not going to be easy.

There is no way Mayfields passing is better than Beechwood’s. Mayfield hasn’t impressed me at all in the two games I watched them. Their QB throws wobbly passes in which Beechwood’s QB throws darts!

We have been underdogs before. I recall 1993, the Cards weren’t even supposed to be able to walk out onto the field with the prolific Prestonburg. However, Pburg remembers how that went. 1995, we faced the 3 time defending state champs in Beechwood. Beechwood remembers how that one went. I saw something out of the young Cards Friday. They are the first team in years that actually doesn’t quit when they get down. So, I say strap up and let’s play.

We were the 4th defending state champions in 1995. I think if anyone is the underdog it’s Beechwood! They lost their best player in Berger. Mayfield is undefeated. They have a record of 8-1 record against the Tigers so I think they are the underdogs.

99-141 70.2% 1706 yds, 20 TDs 2 INTs 190 YPG
Zane Cartwright 13 games
109-168 64.9% 1801 yds 21 TDs 3 INTs 139 YPG
Team Passing
Beechwood 2377 yds 28 TDs 4 INTs 170 YPG
Mayfield 2100 yds 24 TDs 3 INTs 150 YPG
Sounds like 2 pretty even passing games to me.
There is no way Mayfields passing is better than Beechwood’s. Mayfield hasn’t impressed me at all in the two games I watched them. Their QB throws wobbly passes in which Beechwood’s QB throws darts!

You don’t know how much Beechwood brings to the table! The difference is Beechwood has a running game in which LCA doesn’t!

You aren’t very bright if you think LCA would have beat Lloyd by 4-5 touchdowns! I don’t think they would have been able to stop Lloyd!
How many games have you watched Beechwood play?

Most games they would play half or more of the game.Mayfield has played cake walk teams compared to Beechwood. I know they can’t help who is on their schedule but Mayfield hasn’t played the same type of schedule like Beechwood has.

I never said that now did I? If Lloyd was the second best team in the state they would be playing for a title.
I’m a Beechwood guy….Lloyd and Metcalfe Co were one trick ponies…and both were average football teams. Stop their run and they were done. Beechwood could have beaten Lloyd by 60+ points on Friday night if they wanted to. LCA struggled defensively, but they would have gotten the lead on Lloyd and forced Lloyd to get out of their comfort zone and start trying to throw, which they cannot do. LCA would have thrown all over them just like Beechwood did. Beechwood, Mayfield and LCA and then OCath are clearly the best teams in 2A…it’s a big drop off from the top 4 teams.
Beechwood and Mayfield are the 2 most complete teams in 2A, which is why they are playing each other for all the marbles. Beechwood’s defense will be the best and most disciplined that Mayfield has played all season.

I have no dog in this fight as I’m not a fan of either but have watched just about every game both teams have played this year.
I think they both have phenomenal defenses that can make great in game adjustments. Mayfield has a slightly better run game but Beechwood has a slightly better passing attack.
With that said it’s been a while since Mayfield has been to the big game and it’s been Beechwood’s home for a few years now. There is a big advantage to that.
My head says Beechwood will win in a close one but I’m going to go Mayfield by 3 in OT. 24 to 21. I’m rooting for the Cinderella story after what they have been through the last year.

You could actually say beechwood has HOME FIELD advantage lol cause they know Kroger field well.

Might not be a team I am pulling harder for than Mayfield this week. No offense to Beechwood.
Considering where that community was nearly a year ago, to have the chance to celebrate a State Title would be storybook.

Either way this game goes, it is historic. First, Beechwood crushed Mayfield for the first time ever one year ago. Beechwood goes on to win the title and then just days later an EF4 tornado hits Mayfield. It really ripped our hearts and souls out. I try not to get too emotional but, I was a basket case myself. It literally left a path of destruction the likes of Hiroshima bombing. Then who in the world shows up with money and supplies, non other than the Beechwood Tigers football team. So, either you have the Cardinals getting vanquished or the generous Tigers getting repaid for their generosity. What a story. It may be something to write about.

This is just a little tidbit about these 2 teams this century. From 2000 to current, this is how they stack up:
Mayfield
Overall record. 276-50
Trips to finals, 13 (counting this year)
State Runners Up, 6
State champs, 6
Beechwood
Overall record, 259-61
Trips to finals, 12 (counting this year)
State Runners up, 3
State champs, 8
Pretty impressive. At least 1 of these 2 teams has been in the state finals 20 of the last 22 years. At least 1 of these teams has won a state championship in 14 of the last 22 years. Mayfield had a 4 Pete in that time and Beechwood had a 3 Pete.

Yea i just didnt know bc someone said something about the covid restrictions on tailgating.. hell ya, good luck hounds.. hope we both bring home to gold..
Nah, Mayfield's field is always one of the nicest grass fields in the state. I walked on it before the game last Friday an it was still in really good shape considering the drought we had here twards the end of summer the extra playoff games that were held there an the recent rains.. I think it was just how it looked on the video..
I know we gave up some points to Lca, but they throw so many different looks at you we kinda knew that was going to happen to a extent.. 100% shoulda only been 21 points givin up as the refs aided 60 something yrds on one drive by a dropped pass that they called a catch aided by a fantom personal foul but oh well... my point here Mayfield's first string D had only givin up 27 points up untill last fri.. Add in the 28 points scored by Lca an thats 56 points givin up on the season .. Beechwood has allowed 68 points on the year on their first string.. That is a crazy stat an should be telling of a lower scoring game..
Beechwood might of had a lil tougher go at the beginning of their sched but has since had more of a laxed sched through the playoffs while Mayfield sched was not as tough due to down year for their opponents, their playoff road has been a lil tougher.... does this affect anything? Does it help the Cards by them playing stiffer competition hear latly vs the tigers being more in cruise control..? I have to think this favors Mayfield..

Movie after this years game: Beechwood beats Mayfield. Tornado destroys the town. Showing people how they try recover but following the football team too. Beechwood shows up to show support. Then they meet in state championship one year later No matter who wins. It’s a great story
