13th Region New Rankings
#31
As of this week, I think the rankings would go
1.HC
2. Bell
3. Corbin
4. North
5. Clay
6. South

South losing the only double digit scorer other than mabe has shown to hurt, and before then they were not untouchable. Nobody in the KHSAA outside of maybe 2-3 guys at the best schools are better than Maddox Huff at this point. The teams that beat Harlan Co have to be good enough to stop Cottrell and Carter. If you hold them to single digits they lose. However that means you to have a good defensive big and guard outside of who’s guarding Huff. Bell is 16-2 with Blake Burnett on the floor with two 3 pt losses to top 15 teams in the state. They are for real contenders. Corbin, Clay, and North have continued to show they can beat anyone on the floor with them.

Yes, Harlan County is looking good.

I love Gridiron's analysis of 13th region ball. He's good. And I love his Bell County team. But rating South 6th, behind a North team they've beaten twice by an average of a dozen, per, is kinda crazy. Jeff Davis can coach circles around Mr. Valentine. I wouldn't put much stock in North's 15-point win over an inconsistent and mediocre Clay County team. I'd still put South above those two.

Just wondering, why do you have so much love for Mr. Valentine?  After all, he does have a day named after him, it's coming up soon.

I have very little love for Mr. Valentine. He kinda sucks!!! If Jeff Davis or Pietrowski had had Reed , Reed's cousin, and the other parts around them, they would have won state, at least once.

Are you saying BGR is lame???   There are many on here that eclipse me by three or four times that.   Doesn't change the fact Davis is a much better coach than Valentine, who couldn't even win with Sheppard and his cousin.

Who’s hosting each of the 4 district tournaments?

Good question , ned.  I'd like to know that, as well. I don't remember who hosted last year.

No, neither one would have the state.  The missing piece was a big kid, and Valentine knew that when he went after Noah.

Why couldn't he keep Noah?  Or did Noah never have any real intention on playing for North?

I'm just assuming he didn't have enough basketballs to go around.  Noah played summer ball with NL and then went back to Harlan County.  Then V went and got the Chadwell kid from Knox Central, he played the one season with NL and returned to Knox Central for his senior year.
