It's over for The Eagles. You'll stop even hearing about them in top 5 discussions soon. Remember I told you so.

Even if JC would have had a couple of their running backs for this game, I don’t think it would have made that much of a difference. Belfry dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
JC's option offense, like Belfry's depends on precise timing and reads by the QB. If the timing is off, then the offensive line is not going to look very good. If the timing's off, drives will not be sustainable and the team's defense is going to spend more time on the field. Besides the injured running backs, JC was down at least three starters on defense as well. Belfry played well and beat the best team that JC could put on the field.

Maybe Belfry would have won the game had both teams been healthy, but I doubt that the game would have been so lop-sided. Either way, the game shows me that Belfry is capable of winning another 3A title this season because the Pirates always improve as much as any team in the state during the course of the season. Belfry seems to be ahead of schedule this year.
Sounds like a lot of excuses to me lol congratulations belfry.

There were seasons under Matney when he would have loved to have had any of JC's injured running backs as the team's featured back. Peck has them and all have suffered early season injuries.

Johnson Central's program is in as good a shape as it has ever been. No great program ever fires a coach over key players getting injured. The mountains are full of programs that would welcome Jesse Peck as their head coach.
I hate that there are players suffering injuries. I hope they recover soon. Peck having to replace a legend like Jim is a tuff task. Word out of Johnson county is the polar opposite of what you are saying.

As bad as JC people (coaches included) used to get on here and pick on Paintsville it’s hilarious to see them whining about posts on here when things aren’t going their way. I wonder if they will keep the tradition going of JC players and coaches showing up in their jerseys at paintsville games on their off week and cheering on opposing teams? If the little school across the creek had coaches and players pull a stunt like that at Johnson Central the crying and complaining would flood the big sandy river. Pay attention folks and you’ll figure that bunch out.

What do I know, but I think people may be writing off JC too early. They've had injuries to key people who play on both sides of the ball, from what I understand. I was very impressed with the way Coach Peck's team played at Corbin last year. Every time the Hounds seemed in a position to put the game out of reach, the Eagles responded and kept it close.

I expect when they get healthy, they will be a force. Yes, they won't be higher than a #4 in RPI in the east but it wouldn't surprise me if they give Cov Cath all they want, if that game ends up happening. I'm not sure what happened in the Belfry game but I know JC hasn't been healthy. I hope they are at full strength for the trip to Corbin. I want to see a good, competitive game like last season.

Sure are a lot of brand new users showing up this week here to proclaim what they hope is the death of Central football. Bet all these wishful thinkers have downtown Paintsville IP addresses, too. (Or Prestonsburg, same thing.)

hahahaha! I’m actually not a Paintsville fan, I’m just being honest. Why a school that size stays obsessed with a small school is another example of why the titanic is sinking.

Troll!! I said the truth there’s 100s of people on here daily surely you or one of them would’ve been able to say the “truth” can’t come making generic accusations with no way to back it up. You mention kids that have been in Johnson county school system since 1st grade cause of their mothers employment. I’m sure there’s been a few that moved later but I can’t think of any that was a game changer or lead to a title run. Central has lost players that where game changers on other Local teams title runs while the players where in high school.

Big win for the Pirates. Congratulations

It’s pretty simple. McCoart, Conley, and Music didn’t have a single carry against Belfry. It’s really hard to win ball games without your three best weapons. Especially a ball control team like JC.

You take away Caudill, Young, and Woolum from Belfry and suddenly they would be having a down year. Same with Pikeville if they had Anthony, Caudill, and Boykins injured. Even Boyle Co would struggle some without Bodner, Quissenberry, and Brown.

Let’s see what this JC team is with their best 3 running backs healthy. This sport is next man up but its hard to go to numbers 4, 5, 6 on the depth chart in high school.
