Candidates for coach of the year?
#31
Definitely have to consider Perry..... Especially if he can get Garrard into the Region Title game!
#32
Call me crazy, but if Estill makes it to Belfry, or even beats russell for that matter, Mike Jones should be a clear cut choice....

He has basically restructured that entire offense for Trevor, going from toe to toe Wing T, to the spread; and has his team 9-2 with a good shot at the region.

scrappy coco Wrote:Fred Ray...Fairview eagles 1st year head coach hands down. the hand he was delt and all the controversy here in westwood, came and here and gave this program instant integrity, and respect from the players and staff. and not a bad year at all. curently7-4 and still in playoffs. also one of the ONLY teams in state to win on the road in opening round of playoffs!!:thanks:

Anybody can beat south floyd scrappy, ill give you pike central good win others were not, I dont see Coach ray staying long. Why stay for that administration, I also heard coach Ray is only subbing at the school didn't get certified but just a rumor.

With the quality of teams that Pikeville has beaten this year Chris McNamee has to be at the top of consideration.

Have to agree! If either Garrard or Estill are in the semi's, their respective Coach should be considered.....

Larry at NL has done great job

Larkey, North Laurel should not be over looked, Coach Herron in my opinion is one of the best in the state. I would like for you to look up wins and losses over the last 5 years.

We are fortunate to have Coaches that are excellent in Eastern Ky, It would Flat out be wrong for anyone to be selected as coach of the year.

From the start of the 09 season till the present of this season mayfield is 80-6 Not bad since alot of those were to larger schools.

2014 belongs to Larry French. Basically leaves (escorted or not) Boyle for (OMG) Pulaski Southwesern and turns the worm in 1 year. Kudos to coach French.

Larry French has did wonders with SW. The old man at Letcher Central has proved he can still coach.

If Iroquois wasn't in the mix I'd agree with you. Coach King at Iroquois took a team that has gone 15-81 over the past decade to a 10-1 season. The best example is against Oldham County. He took a 33-0 shutout with Coach Sander last season to a 10 point win this season. This is his first year, and with all the bigger schools in the area he doesn't get that much recognition for what he's done there. If it wasn't for him then I'd agree with you, but nobody has made the turnaround he has in that span of time.

I agree.

I have to say Eric Ratliff from Shelby Valley or McNamee from Pikeville . Pikeville played such a tough schedule he probably deserves it .

Burg has same coach that beat Raceland last year after they spanked the mighty Panthers and sent them to early basketball practice.

55-20 record for Williamsburg. 55-21 for Pikeville. So Pikeville has played one more game than the burg, and against better schedules/tougher opponents just about every single year. What's your point? Herron is a very good coach and has a wonderful job at Williamsburg. But nothing about the last 5 years records makes him stand out. B

does anyone know how to list your favorite teams under your name?

How stupid are you? That will never happen!!!

Larry French

Here's a sleeper pick - Lance Gregory - 5A Graves County. Turned around a struggling program (lost 3 of first 4) in mid-season and is now 8-3 going into tonight's 2nd round game with Christian County, a team Graves defeated earlier in the year.

I know - he got beat by 3A Tilghman and also 1A Mayfield. But the turnaround has been impressive and he also handed McCracken County its only regular season loss @ McCracken.

Why are you lunatics still having this conversation. The don of High School football, genius bar none, master of the turnaround and coaching prodigy is the coach of the year. Larry French dressing hands down deserves it over anyone else. 1-9 to 9-2 cmon lunatics do the math. mods close this thread down now! This debate is ova clearly these posters have lost their collective minds suggesting anyone else but the French man from southwestern.

Should the COY recognitions add a "110-Percent" award?

If so, Somerset's coach seems in the running. Any coach who can keep a winless team competing and improving seems to deserve some recognition.

From the more traditional perspective, though, it's hard to argue against Larry French. That "old" guy can coach.
