Pike Central 38 Prestonsburg 36

UpYours Wrote:I disagree with this. It's like saying the refs took the game. Games are won and lost by the players and coaches executing the plays and making the right decisions throughout the game. Why do people always want to lay blame on others for their mistakes / misfortunes. :eyeroll:

I am not one to make excuses, and never even brought it up till someone else mentioned it. It is what it is. When the guy or gal running the clock stops the clock to give the home team time to get to the line of scrimmage & get a play off in which they score then it is a problem with me. That play shouldn't have gotten off and the opposing team loses by 2 points it makes a difference. That is why all the up roar with the coaching staff and officials at halftime.

Not quite the way it happened. The clock was stopped at 14 seconds for about 6 seconds when it should have been running. That is why all the up roar from the coaching staff of Prestonsburg. The last play before half should have never gotten off if the clock had been ran properly. Of course it was an issue most of the night. In a 2 point game the clock keeper made the biggest play of the night. - See more at: http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...x2330.dpuf

The Clock stopped because there was a 1st down prior to the last play of the half and in HS football and College football the clock stops while the chains are moved you may want to check your rule book there buddy lol. The run off of the clock happened because the time had ran some after PIKE CENTRAL got to the line to call the play and snap the ball as it should have. Thus the run off. PIKE CENTRAL had a Timeout left so if the clock was an issue it would have been used but with 14 secs left on clock its not hard to get to the line and snap the ball after a first down and clock stoppage.

The chains had already been moved and the signal for the start of the clock had already been made thus the events of the coaches at halftime. I know the rules buddy.

You must not know the rules because like you said there were 14 seconds on the clock and once the chains got set the clock starts and 6 secs should have ran off clock which leaves 8 secs or a little under that around 7 secs which was what was on clock and the refs dropped it down even further to 3.7 secs lol so what in heck are you complaining about. I suppose you think that they should have just ran all the 14 seconds off the clock lmao how in the heck would that be fair.

Did the up roar as you call it change the call. Did it put time back on the clock? Did it take the score off by PCC since as you say it the play should have never happened? The answer is NO. But the "up roar" was an embarrassment to the school, administration and the community. These are adults who should act like adults and lead by example.

Let's not forget the main reason why the clock didn't run out like the Prestonsburg Coaches thought it should have lol because Mac Justice snapped the ball to and spiked it to stop the clock after the hawks got the first down. Prestonsburg coaches and fans were upset because they thought once the ball was placed that the clock should have started back but as well all know when a ball is spiked the clock doesn't start back on the spot of the ball but on the snap of the ball which is the whole reasoning for the spike in the first place to stop the clock to get a chance to run a play lmao. This is a dumb argument.

Here is what happened : Pike Cent got the ball with 42 sec to go in half. After a penalty or loss of yds. they ended up behind the chains (needing more than 10 yds. for a 1st down) they completed a pass between the markers (short of the 1st down) with right around 15 sec to go and the linesman on that side ran in and signaled to stop the clock, which it stopped for 6-8 sec then he realized his error and the ref signaled run the clock. Justice then spiked the ball with 5.7 on the clock, after P'burg argued (rightly so) the ref said set the clock to 3 sec.
At that point he whistled for the play clock to run, not the game clock because of the spiked pass. Justice then threw the hail mary for the TD.
P'burg's argument was there should not be 3 sec left because it stopped for more than that. Trust me they know the rules and knew it wouldn't run when the ball was set, they might've wanted it to wind when set to be fair because of the incorrect stoppage.
This was not the only clock issue during the game, sometimes it ran too long and sometimes it didn't run when it should but on this series it was the linesman who caused the error.

Let's be honest Pike Central turned the ball over 4 or 5 times in the game and Prestonsburg had every chance to win the game which they didn't. It was a 10 point game with under a min left in the game Prestonsburg scored a garbage TD and 2 point conversion to make the game look closer than what it was for the newspaper readers. That is all.

I am sure the Prestonburg faithful will come up with some more conspiracy theories as to why they lost to Betsy Lane on a thread about this time next week. Pretty sure this isn't the first conspiracy theory there fans and coaches have fabricated this season after a loss. After Knox Co game there were conspiracy theories on the loss and hell it was a home game. Then the same with the Powell Co game to lmao. How about you accept the fact that your team didn't execute like they should have on the field and the coaching staff didn't put them in the best position to be successful to win the game. Or hell how about the obvious they did the best they could and just came up short against teams that played the game just a tad bit better which is the case in point.

Ok folks...let's move on, no need to keep bickering.

Get your facts together. No one made excuses about the Knox game, and by the way it was at Clay Co. We missed the extra point to tie the game. End of story on that one.

No one made excuses about the Powell Co. game. We missed a 2 point conversion to take the lead late in the 4th.
