All i have to say is that pre-season polls do not mean jack squat. Everyone had Breathitt in the top 5 last year in the pre season and some even predicted us to win it all, but look what happed to that.

i agree with you. everyone said that Estill would be lucky to win 1 game after all the talent we had graduated but we won 7.

And nary a mention of Russellville, a 1A which plays up in 3A. They played Tilghman way tougher than Somerset did. I would not count them out of the mix in any poll or list.

Here goes my thought:
1. Paducah Tilghman
2. Central
3. Mason County
4. Belfry
5. Sheldon Clark
6. Henry County
7. E-town
8. Spencer County
9. Estill County
10. Russell
I really think 3A is really competitive this year with 13 or 14 teams that could really make some noise depending on the injury bug.

Tica Wrote:Paducah Tilghman has practically everyone back and improved depth at the skills. They have the potential and athletes to be significantly better. Key district games are at home. You may have sound reasons for leaving them off your list. But I believe very few 3A coaches will overlook them.
i was wondering why they didnt put the defending champs on there

Best teams will come out of the Central and West this season IMO.. EKY 3A will be improved in 2010, but so will the teams from outside the area.

they was 13 point underdogs against garrard county, Newport isn't no pushover, Magoffin isn't a bad team, but 7 wins is alot better than 1 win or 2 wins.

I am not disrespecting them, or not meaning to anyway. Garrard County was average or below average, Magoffin is not a good team either. 7 wins is a good season.

A lot of Tilghman's fans are partially bald from pulling their hair out last year when they were 3-6. You cannot predict what Tilghman will do. I gave up trying. I would give the early nod to Central, since that playoff game rotates back up there next year. But PT should be in the hunt and will be blessed with exceptional team speed.

I hate to say it, but Breathitt may be just an average team in 2010. Not as good as in 2009, and that is not saying much.

I believe that Pike Central will definitely be in the hunt in 2010.

Strikeout King Wrote:they lose 16 seniors
Somerset Returns 16-18 Juniors(Seniors to be) next season plus about the same number of Sophomores (Juniors to be) next year.
They did loose O-Line and Leading Rusher on offense, but return QB and top 2 receivers, two TEs and best RB on team (was hurt all last year).
O-Line will be replaced by a Jr. that split time starting last year and 4 seniors.
Jumpers had a great run last year, would like to have one just a little bit better this year.
I think Central and Tilghman are #1 and 2 in no particular order with everyone else lined up behind them in 3A.

Optimism in April will be tempered with reality in November.
Ill give it a shot.
1-- Paducah Tilghman-Put them here because they are the best til someone knocks them off.
2-- Mason Co.
3-- Somerset-Only ahead of SC because of the way they ran through the mountains last year.
4-- Sheldon Clark
5-- Central
6-- Belfry
7-- Union County
8-- Henry County
9-- Western Hills
10-- Pike County Central

Everyone puts SC high on this list on every post....I know SC has a great past and a tradition, but their excuse last year with the 40-18 lost to PCC was not having 5-6 players, so with the loss of as much as 9, how will this effect SC in 2010? I know PCC, has replaced their loss with equal talent, so has everyone else? For all the people who don't even have Pike Central on their top 10, you may think Pike Central will only win one game, but your team may be that win...Who knows??????
04-21-2010, 06:08 PM
Sheldon Clark proved who was the better team in the Regional Championship..Every team loses play at the end of the season due to graduation but you have all summer to get the new players ready to play..Its alot different then trying to play a game without 5 or 6 players in the middle of the season. Sc lost 8 players to graduation but 2 didnt really get that much playing time so I doubt it will be difficult for Hager and the staff to find 6 new boys to step in!
04-21-2010, 08:02 PM
I guess that's why we play the games:HitWall: SC, gets the opportunity to come back to Pike Central once again and if my memory serves correct....that Regional Championship was a little closer than the 40-18 home loss SC suffered...I know, SC won that rematch, but coming off a hard battle with Mason County the week before may have had a few Pike Central players beaten up, but no excuses here, we took our butt whipping and moved on, all i'm saying is Pike Central, Sheldon Clark, and Belfry this year will be a "WAR" and anyone who thinks otherwise, may be surprised:dontthink.. Be very careful what you wish for, Pike Central will not back down from a good game:rockon:
