When will Spring Training start for the Bobcats?
03-06-2010, 11:38 AM
If the boys lose, the bobcats will start spring practice the following monday, is what a player told me.

Just heard, from one of the players, that Casey Adkins, is get looked at pretty good by UK. Great accomplishment.
Keep working hard!

Also news keep pouring in, parsons and staff will be coaching in the ky/WV all star game.

WOW! That is really bad news for KY! I feel sorry for the kids playing in it this year.

I am sorry, but no one from Betsy Layne will go to UK to play football. Casey is a good player but he has no coaching and no chance of exposure at BL. I mean this is no ill way but the facts are the facts. 3-4 wins against a cupcake schedule will get you nowhere except for maybe NAIA. And that is nothing against the NAIA, it is a respectable league to play in.

Hammertime...why so negative about the coaching at BL? What makes you think that they are doing a good job...besides the fact they didn't do well on their sub-par schedule. Curious...I didn't know if you have more insight then what has already been told.

Sorry to disappoint but Coach Ortmeyer will be coming in a couple weeks to meet Casey. Heard it from my cousins(Red told players today during weightlifting)
Red had the KY/WV last year but turned it down so he can play with his kids a little longer before season starts.
I smell jealousy!!!!!

And if he gets offered he will be the first to have that to happen.

OK HAMMERTIME let me spill this out to as plain as it gets and you treaded the wrong ones here and your running your jaw talking BS. I hope you are not a coach, because I will investagate who you are, I know that there are alot of coaches on here and all or most that very respected in there county. You have been recruiting players from other schools for the past 2 years on here I have the letters to prove it I have 3 letters that you have sent me in regards of my son to come to Pikeville High and play football. So coach Mack call off the dogs tell Hammertime to stick with Pike County and leave the Floyd County School system alone. Recruiting violations is very serious Hammertime could cost Pikeville High Ind. a conference championship now.

If you ever get tired of the non support at BL then you should think about being up here. Our alumni always help out with coaching and money. Our community support is great and there is a better opportunity for education and betterment in sports up here. I understand you want to be loyal to BL, but wouldn't you like to see what your boy could do playing with more talent around him? I really think he could start up here and I wish you would give us a chance. I know Mac has said a lot of good things about your boy and I got to see him play last season. Just think about it and get back to me.
WE ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THE FUTUER HERE AT BETSY LAYNE. PLZ MODERATERS LET IT RIDE THIS RECRUITING HAS TO STOP....

Hammertime I hope you are a kid & not a adult to come on here & say something that stupid is uncalled for, I have been in the stands every game the last three year Coach Parsons puts more time in with these boys than anyone ever has, how many boys or girls basketball games did you see him at? allmost all of them thats taking pride in your school something no other football coach here has done before, each year he has improved one way or another the gap has got smaller between BL & other team we play each year thats progress something else we have not seen untill now,is he the greatest coach ever ? no but if hard work makes you better he's going in the right direction, you have to have numbers for football 20-25 player in the past 30-35 last year, its getting better. did anyone say Adkins was going to UK ? no they are looking at him, I hope he can go they couldn't find a finer youg man if hard work pays off the bobcats should have a wining program because I know Red will put the time in needed.

lots of silliness going on. Why don't we get back on track. How are things going in the weightroom for Betsy Lane? Spring Football?
03-12-2010, 12:55 PM
Okay, I gonna admitt my ignorance, but who are all of the position coaches on staff at BLHS. Are they volunteers or paid? and how much coaching experience do they have? And how much experience in working with youth? And I guess the final question is do they work well together?
03-12-2010, 05:25 PM
I think the coaching staff works great together.
There one big family.

From what I have ssen and heard, the BL coaching staff each are dedicated and knowledgable. I don't believe that there has ever been a perfect coach, or a coach that wouldn't like to learn more about his trade. As for Hawg Laig and Hammertime, why are you trying to deminish the reputations and credibility of the players and coaches at this school. Any one that is affiliated with highschool sports should be wanting praise someone participating with a sport. Plain and simple, the main focus for extra curricular activities is to instill confidence and work ethic in players. Or am I wrong?
03-13-2010, 04:57 PM
Where do you get I'm downing the Bobcats or the coaching staff??? Read my previous posts before you make those accusations. I just want to know who the assistant coaches are and if they are paid or not.
My reason?
1. Keeping an intact coaching staff from year to year is, in my opinion vital to long term sucess.

The core is intact and its the same as the last three years.
Hawg, you have been negative in the past.

Any negativity in the past was out of frustration, sorry if it seemed to be anger or contempt for the program or the staff.
My question about the coaching staff was based upon rumors I had heard, which I now see were both unfounded and were probably started by someone with their own agenda.

Why do you ask Hawg? About the coaching staff? Do you have any ties with them? I don't see you asking other schools.
Just wondering

I follow and support all the Floyd County football programs. I had asked about the coaching staff at BLHS because I had heard that they were adding to their coaching staff and wanted to see if that was true.
Evidently it was not, so you answered my question. And, no, I won't quote the rumor I had heard. It would be counterproductive. Glad to see things will stay the same. Consistency in coaching is important when you are working with youth.
I have no ties to any of the schools in the county but I am a big fan of them all.

Red (Parsons) have added coaches to his team that will help in fundamentals and techniques. In the off season as of now the Bobcats have 17 lifting weights 3 days a week....WORK HARD BOYS....
This is probably why he asked. The post said Coach Parsons added coaches. What's negative about asking you to name your coaching staff?

Coaching stability with the program is key to any program or any sport. That stability isn't just having a coach there for a long time, but a quality coach there for a long time. I don't know Coach Parsons but if he is a quality coach time will tell by his wins and losses (granted the teams are quality they are playing also). So...look back at the program wins prior to him coaching there and since...has he gotten the program better? Is the kids excited about playing for the school? Is the administration happy with the job he is doing? The same with the parents. If those pass then leave the program alone, the players alone, and the coaches alone. If they want to pump themselves up on here then so be it. As you know most of this stuff on here is just that...talk. Good luck to Betsy Lane next season...I hope you make it work.
