Channing Fugate
#31
might be a good thing that kiffin is leaving

playing time.....He could possibly be an impact player at a Eastern or Western in a couple years. He was good in the mountains but now he did get ALOT against non-powerhouses. He won't be the man at Tenn..Be lucky to play his first 2 years at all. Might get some special teams play his jr. year and might be a #2 or #3 on the depth chart his Sr. year.

I didn't say it made sense. I'm an EKU grad and fan.

I totally agree with you! I don't think Lane Kiffin was ever in it for Tennessee, that was just the best job opening available at the time so he took it until a better one came open.

so is he still signing with UT?
#37
I was reading a UT football forum and the fans are really excited to be getting Fugate. Why would Kiffin have ever offered him a scholarship if he did not ever plan on playing him? Personally, I think Kiffin is obviously a better judge of talent than anyone on here.

Channing can play both sides of the ball and will do just fine at UT. He will score some tds and make some big plays against UK before his college career is over and you can count on that.

is he going to sign on national signing day?

But, But, these people are the know it all of evaluating talent, you can not be serious! Only kidding of coarse. The scouts that get paid to do what they do from UT saw a talent in Channing and offered him a well deserved scholarship. I just wonder if instead of Channing it was the kid from Belfry or another EKY power if the comments would be as negative as they are about Channing. Bottom line, I trust UT's talent evaluators more than anyone on here.

I wonder if Kiffin offered Channing a scholarship to play at USC?

I am offended by this comment.

Really? When were you offered a head coaching job at UT or USC? I don't know much about Kiffin, but the powers in college football seem to think he knows his football. I'd like to be cashing his paychecks. How much do you get paid for your football expertise?
#44
from what i understand by him already attending UT, he is stuck there. I think he will still be a good fit at UT,hope it turns out good for him.

I wouldn't make the argument that Kiffin is a better judge of talent. Hes out recruiting middle schoolers now. Kiffin is a joke and Fugate and Tennessee is better off without him.

Do you guys think he would go to USC if he was offered?

He has already signed a letter of intent with UT. If he did leave he would lose a year of eligibility.

I think if he goes to a Div II school he could keep his year of eligibility, but I could be wrong.

Not a bad place to be "stuck" imo.

The truth is....and personally I would like to stick to the truth...he could get out of his UT scholarship if he asked the school for a release due to the coach leaving. They would probably give it to him, but I think Channing is glad to be at UT. He just wants to be utilized and he will be.

I don't think he would accept an offer to USC because he wanted his family to be able to come to the games. That's why he didn't go to Stanford.

fugate should do fine, but im still wondering what happened to him last season?

They lost 4 out of the 5 starting offensive lineman from the 2008 season. From what I know Channing always gave that 2008 offensive line a lot of credit. That's why he only ran the ball 3 times in the Sheldon Clark game was because 4 of the offensive lineman had never started a game. Holcomb didn't want to feed him to the wolves. He also missed two games due to injury and then Magoffin forfeited their game due to the flu. They also played two less games due to getting beat in the regional finals. He still ended up with over 1500 yards and in reality played in 5-6 less games than the year before. He still averaged almost 10 yards a carry.

Channing was better his senior year but didn't have the offensive line to go with it. Offensive lineman rarely get the credit they deserve.
