Next coach at Perry Co. Central?
Thank you, much appreciated.
HAT51 Wrote:I believe Mountain Warrior would be a good choice for any school. He believes in teaching discipline and ways of life and has had a great resume.

Sounds like Mountain Warrior is running a political campaign for himself. Every time he posts its about him getting a job some where. Apply and let your resume do the talking if your are a "great " coach. Heck, there are a lot of guys coaching that teach discipline in their programs and cant coach football on Friday night. Coaching is about a philosophy, offense, defense, kicking game and putting that plan into action. Then have adjustments to make when the plan is stopped. Good luck Mountain Warrior......"Be all you can be". I think you will do fine wherever you end up because you understand discipline 1st.
No political campaign here. But, I have been out of coaching for a few years so I think it if people want to know who I am or what I believe then I will let them know. Did not mean for it to come off that way. I agree with what you said about coaching. Take care I hope I am not offending anyone by posting on here.
Looks like the job at Beth. has been filled according to the other site.
wood_chuck Wrote:heard mike whitaker from lcc and a coach from lca are also interested. but if roark can bring a qb then hire him, pcc doesnt have one right now for next year.

If u talking about Paul from LCA. I don;t think he would take the PCC job. LCA can go to other places and get players. PCC can;t do that.
Mike Whitaker is going to be the next coach at LCC. He have that job before he went up there. Howard might coach one or two more years. But he wont coach to much longer.
Genius....He left LCC Jan 4th for Flordia.

Sorry couldn't help it.
pedromorales Wrote:I would look for them to go out and try to get a big name like they did for basketball with Coach Hatcher. PCC is a basketball school, but their football program is on the way up and, given the weak district that they play in, it would be a good opportunity for an experienced coach to step in and keep developing that program.

What do you mean a weal district? The best I can remember is that Perry Centeal finished 4th and was lucky they did that. I know that PC has improved over the last couple of years, but don't get carried away. The other teams at Whitley, Letcher, Harlan Co. Clay Co., and North Laurel have rising programs and sure will be improving. When PC has about 20 years of winning seasons with 4-5 regional championships under their belt then start bragging.

Oh please. The only team on that list that has won even a little bit consistently over 20 years is Whitley. N. Laurel is horrible compared to PCC and Clay is about the same. Harlan and Letcher are only 2 and 5 years old respectively.

If Perry Central ever decided to invest a little into the football program from facilities to hiring assistant coaches it could be one of the better jobs in the mountains.

But seeing as how they have never done that I do not have any reason to believe that they ever will.
Mountain Warrior Wrote:Well, if he does not take the job. I have sent my bio and overview of how I'd run a program to Mr. Neace and let him know I am offically interested in the job. As I have said before, God has a plan. I just did not want to pass up the opportunity. Here is a simple code to go by.

Commodore Code:
1. Commodore's are disciplined people committed to excellence.
2. Commodore's are positive people.
3. Commodore's treat training sessions as personal proving grounds.
4. Commodore's are persistent.
5. Commodore's live a balanced life.
6. Commodore's serve others.
7. Commodore's are CHAMPIONS

This is the same crap he spewed for the Engineers last year right before he quit on us! Different name same old song. Give us break with this "Im gonna save our kids from themselves with discipline" attitude. You like the idea of coaching but not seeing the job through!
Actually, it is the same. That is the philosophy I go by. As far a saving the kids from themselves. From what I saw those were great young me that worked hard. It did not work out and I am sorry for that. However, I don't think I deserve those comments. Coach Jones (who I played with in at Union) was able to get the job back and I think things worked out in the end. Again, I hate it happened that way but I wish the school and those young men nothing but the best, regardless of your hard feelings.
Coach, little advice. You are in a no win situation on this board. It is just a matter of time before more things are said. I know a few coaches do post on here, but remain under a screen names. I do admire your honesty, but there will come a time when someone ask something that frankly should be a private matter. In the end, only your name will get hurt. Good luck in whatever you do. I wish you the best.
Any updates?
Xerxes, good advice. Best if I not post here because I am going to be honest, no matter what. Thank you and God bless. If I am blessed enough to get hired close to you, come visit. Take care. I will just be a reader of posts
Who are you MT. Warrior?
Any News of what is going on?
I like what MT Warrior has to say. Personally, I would just like to see PCC get a coach of Mike Holcomb's caliber. Someone that would make PCC a football powerhouse year after year like the Bobcats of Breathitt. Bert Browne made some good strides, but we need someone that will pick up where he took off and take it to the next level. PCC has the talent to do just that too.

We're lucky to have someone of MT. Warriors' caliber posting on this site and sharing his thoughts with us. I just wish people would be careful about accusing someone of saying something if they really didn't. This is a very respectable site and people like him should feel comfortable in posting without what they say being taken out of context.
I just heard today that John Carroll from Shelby County was the frontrunner.

Is he from there or even close. Shelby County is a big time school. are yu sure it isn't Shelby Valley.

What is the lates on the Kenny Roark visit. Is there a time line?

Is Coach Browne taking any assistants with him to Central form Perry.

Any talk of kids going to Hazard or anywhere else?
I hear it is Roarks job if he wants it. They may have talked today about the pay. If he turns it down, then maybe the other guys. I think they are covering all their bases. Sounds like they may be getting a better coach than they had.
Well, I have not been offered an interview so I hope Roark takes it, and then I might have a shot at Middlesboro. I was expecting a call from Knott County this week, but nothing so far. Who knows, it may not be meant for me. I just have to be patient and trust that God will place me in the best situation. Good luck to all these teams regardless. I love SE Kentucky football. I just wish we had a little more discipline in some areas. Xerxes, I don't know you but you always have good comments and give very good advice and I want to thank you for that, God bless.
The person they need at PCC is really someone that understands how to build a program and knows the X's and O's. I have heard names and IF Roark is not lured to PCC, I for one think that the forenamed mentioned would be a serious person for this job.
I hope attachment comes through
I would have thought that PERRY would have a coach by now. Does anybody know have any updates.???????
They need to if they want to be ready for spring practice.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Everything else doesn't matter![/COLOR]
I'm pretty sure that Roark will be the coach, but idk when the announcement will be made, but I say it will be in the next week or so.
I just talked to John Carroll's cousin and from what he knows John Carroll teaches college in the Shelby County area and has little or no experience in coaching high school football.

I like what MT. Warrior has to say and its a big deal to me that he makes an effort to not only make good football players out of his kids, but good men too. I got a sixth grader that shows a lot of potential and I can tell you right now that he is not going to be playing for someone like Kevin Duff or Bobby Keith Dixon. They were mediocre players and in my opinion they have questionable character and I'm being nice.

Good luck MT. Warrior...wherever you do go will be blessed to have you man. Your right in that God does have a plan. If you don't get the job here then the Lord just has a better place for you. I just hope my son has the opportunity to play for a real man like your self. Someone who knows the value and meaning of serving your country. Someone who knows the value of being a positive minded man of great character.

I think MT. Warrior knows his X's and O's too. PCC could use a good man that has the knowledge he has.
Can you tell me who John Carroll's cousin is? I can tell you from personal experience that he does not teach college in Shelby County, he teaches at the Middle School in Shelby County.....

Let me explain to you very clearly, BKD should not have to worry about anyone questioning his character, I can speak volumes on this with anyone knowing him for his entire life, personally and professionally. As far as a player, IF MCN had a qb BKD's senior year, they would have went very deep into the playoffs. I think that team only won a few game BUT the games they lost totaled up around 20+ points the entire year. I will be the first to tell you he was a terrible qb but that was not his position, he was a dandy FB and LB. Again, you can see Perry County football has always hurt with numbers in high school.

As far as coaching, do you honestly think you had to be a great player to be a coach or a player at all? I know it helps to understand the game, don't get me wrong, but understading and surrounding yourself with quality asst. will help to run a productive program.
I'm going to tell you from personal experience with Bobby Keith Dixon, you don't ever have to question his ethics, his character or his professionalism as a coach... If you don't want your son playing for a guy like Bobby Keith, then you're son is missing out and that's my opinion on that. I have known Bobby my entire life along with his family, don't question is integrity or his character because you're in the wrong unless you have facts to back you in what you're saying and I can tell you, YOU DON'T.....

As far as a player, there was nobody that played for M.C. Napier that loved playing football as much as Bobby Keith did, he just got caught up in a numbers game our senior year where he had to play QB, not his fault, but if we did have a QB and he was allowed to play his natural position in what he played since the 8th grade (Fullback) we would have done very well in the playoffs.

Bobby Keith knows as much about football as the next person and just because you have never coached on the high school level, does not mean that you cannot do it and cannot be successful..... It just means that someone has not been given an opportunity to apply his knowledge and skills on the high school level... If a person is a consistent winner at the middle school level, I believe that person can be successful at the high school level, it's still FOOTBALL!!!!!
