Another post I agree with.

What's so unrealistic/funny about it?

I never said it was unrealistic. In fact, I don't know how a generally unexpected rant could be considered real or unreal.
What's so funny about it? Oh I don't know, just the fact that somebody could get so worked up so easily about a player and/or their fan base. Nobody says Justice is the best player in the state, and although it was stated in this thread that he doesn't turn the ball over often and has the smarts to stay out of foul trouble, it is still comical for someone to get that emotional over something as small as that.

This thread was very good for a long time. Everyone was debating different points of the game and different matchups inside the game very well. Both sides of the debate were representing their points well and fairly. Everything started going south with post #41.

I made two true statements about Elisha, but never said anything close to "he's perfect". Over the last 4 years, he averages under 2 turnovers per game (definitely not perfect, but pretty good). He has also fouled out of very few games (he fouled out 1 game in Florida, but he doesn't get in foul trouble much). Is it possible that he'll get in foul trouble? Yes. Is it possible that he'll turn it over more than 2 times? Yes. My point was that if a team is going into a game banking on beating SV because they are going to turn it over a lot or because Elisha is going to get in foul trouble, they are reaching.
All SV supporters will tell you that Elisha's outside shot could be better, that he could stay in front of his man a little more instead of backtapping so much, and we all wish he was 6'4", but we all know there are many more positives to his game than negatives. Besides that, his teammates are pretty good. Several of them are very underrated.
Christian County has a great team and has a great shot at beating SV, but SV has a great shot as well.

DortonWildcat5 Wrote:This is a hard match up to call. I know Christian County is very good and I expect it to be a battle. The advantage I see SV having is that teams rarely press them because it usually has no effect on them. In the past 4 years they may have been pressed 3 or 4 times (and at least 2 were with Elisha out with an injury). I don't look for Christian County's press to be the difference in the game. Having seen them play, what would you say would be another factor in their favor?
Christian Co's physical style of "in your face" defeense could be another factor in their favor. I know they play some hard nosed basketball in the mountains but CC is in your face the whole game. I could see this frustrating players like the Newsome boys/Varney/Hatfield.
Justice will have to be the team leader and keep his team from playing with too much emotion.
I also think CC's athleticism will be a HUGE factor in this game. Very rarely do they get out-rebounded and I'm pretty sure they won the battle on the boards against both Holmes and Bowling Green.....two teams who have better inside players than SV.
CC is very tough inside with Malcolm McDuffen who is one of the best athletes in the state. Not only does he excell on the court but he's also an all state linebacker and one tough kid. He'll be tough to "bang" with down low.
BlackcatAlum Wrote:I honestly don't see the CC press being very effective versus Valley. This team plays about as good a team ball as anyone. They've been playing with one another since middle school and know each others in-and-outs. Plus having a point guard as quick with the ball as Elisha Justice certainly helps. He torched Mason County's press at the sweet 16 last season.
Now if Elisha were to get in foul trouble a lot of things could play into CC's favor, but like someone else mentioned it will more than likely be 15th region officials that will call in Valley's favor.
I have thought the same thing the past two years about CC against Holmes, but you can't simulate their quickness and won't understand how good their press is until you see it in person. This will be one of the quickest teams that Valley has ever played and that's no exaggeration.
I'd honestly say their press is much better than Lexcath's for the simple fact that they have the quickness and athleticism to make up for mistakes.
Being pressed by Mason Co last year and Christian Co this year are two completely different animals.
Valley will be able to break the pressure, but you'll see them struggle throughout the game. Anthony Hickey is quick enough to keep up with Justice if he tries to break the press by himself.

Thanks for the info... Hopefully its a good game Friday, because I'd hate to have me and my friends drive 30-40 minutes to watch a blow out.

Some of the other Valley players do seem to be underrated. Don't get me wrong, Elisha is a great player who does deserve any positive recognition, but he also has a team who plays basketball WITH him. I'm sure Elisha knows that, so we can't blame him for all the light being shone on him and not his teammates, but Hatfield, both Newsome boys, Varney, and a few other Valley players are great ball players as well. These boys grew up together playing ball and know what makes a good team. Great guys both on and off the court.

This is where every Shelby Valley thread goes.........
I thought this was about the SV vs CC game?
Not, "Elisha is the best", "No he's not", "yes he is", No he isn't" etc.
There are several other players on Shelby Valley's team besides Justice.
Why can't the SV fans talk about Hatfield, Taylor Newsome, Tyler Newsome, Varney etc. or better yet, the TEAM. JMO

To be fair, no one downgrades those players like they do Elisha.
But I see your point and agree.

McDuffen is a stud on the gridiron and is heading to UK for football.
Hickey, Wilson, and Kates are all receiving small D1, big D2 interest.
Kates is probably the biggest prospect on the team. He had a very good summer on the AAU circuit and interest has continued to pick up since.

The reason every SV thread goes there has more to do with hatred toward Justice and the Wildcats than the SV fans being delusional.

Christian Co was a very good team last year too.
And yes they have improved. They only lost one player from last year's team so they return the same group, with more experience.

I realize they were good last year, I just didn't see all that speed and athleticism that you speak of... I'm not doubting that it's there, but I don't remember anyone really standing out.

Ask Holmes how good they are, gave them all they wanted and more the other night, but came up a little short in overtime. Christian County by 3.
