Corbin @ Prestonsburg 11/20: Broadcast ESPN 104.5/960 www.ekbsports.com

I am not sure that you can believe everything you hear. That being said, I heard all of the officials were going to be from the North. If that is the case then none of the aforementioned would fit into that category. Somebody is just trying to stir the pot.

I agree.

Yep. But, if David Maynard is one of them, he used to live in Prestonsburg (if its the same person I am thinking of). Used to be a State Trooper. Not a very good official...

Those are the same names listed as the game officials ...

IMO I believe that the Blackcats will win this game I do think that in order for the Redhounds to win this game I agree with some of the above posts that if they just lay back in coverage then they will for sure get beat, the Redhounds will have to blitz all night and move P-Burg's offensive line backwards and put pressure on Micheal Burchette in order to win this game if they win it then. I believe that the Blackcats will win this game no matter what type of defense scheme the Redhounds throw at the Cats they will still come up short because the Blackcats have several ways to attack, if they are getting blitzed they can run the ball or Michael Burchette can scramble for 5-10+ yards and keep moving the ball. My score prediction is P-Burg 42 Corbin 28, this will be a good hard fought game and penalities and mistakes will come into play also.

If its the official that called the fumble the other night in the SV/Corbin game then P-Burg may have an up hill battle. :redboxer:

I'll take P-burg in a close one. For Corbin to win they will have to pressure Burchett on every play. For P-burg to win they must stop the run. Score P-burg-34
Corbin-28
I would not be surprised to see Corbin leading going into the 4th quater.

The officials were from the Louisville area.

I hope Prestonsburg's offense works on quick slants, screens, and traps this week. It would also be good if P-burg puts in a max protection blocking scheme, especially for 2nd and 3rd down and long to go. If Burchett is given time, he will find the open receiver.

But since Corbin knows this...

If I were calling Corbin's defense (LOL), I'd blitz the OLBs or an odd cornerback every time the Blackcats line up in the double-wing. It does a lot of good things (if you're Corbin) - it disrupts the jet sweep running lane, it beats blockers on the power sweep, AND it brings pressure on the QB if P-burg is passing (the LB on the side of the wing that goes in motion could even come in UNblocked). Prestonsburg also has a tendency to play-fake EVERY time they throw out of the dbl wing - if they don't bite at the fake, it gives the blitzers more time to get to the QB.

I really hope that is not the crew doing the game, would not be good for Corbin in my opinion. One of the officials does live in Corbin and another one in Laurel Co. and they do lots of games in the area in several sports. It seems to me that in the high school games that I have witnessed these guys call, that they appear to go out of their way to not seem biased, which makes them call the other way too often on 50/50 type calls. They are good, honest officials though and obviously would not still be calling this far along in the playoffs if not.

Easier said than done.

A team that got to Michael the most this season was Sheldon Clark and Michael just dodged them in the pouring rain and had a very good game rushing the ball. I think that the Sheldon Clark & Corbin defense are very similar.

Confusedhh:

I actually wrote my last post a little out of order.

What I meant to say was...I hope P-burg is working on quick slants, screens, and traps BECAUSE I see Corbin blitzing from the corners Friday (that's what I'd do if I were setting up the defense vs. P-burg).
#75
I don't think Michael sets in the pocket long enough for a corner blitz to be successful, although it would work versus the jet sweep.
#76
I say that it will be P-Burg's game to win.

When I said "corners", I wasn't meaning the CB specifically. I was talking about coming hard from the edges - Sam and/or Will blitz (one or both OLB's come when P-burg in double wing formation) sprinkled with the occasional CB blitz.

Corbin can win this game. It's in their hands now. Come on Corbin fans, let's hear it! "Are you ready for this"?

All this talk about the officials is confusin me. I know when I played, the officials for the Region Championships were from one of the other 3 Regions, not from the Region that is playin. Here's an example: I played at Paintsville, we played Fleming Neon in the Region Championship my Junior year (2001), we had officials from New Cath's Region, which is who we played in the State Semi's.

Go Blackcats bring home the win.
