AC 21
Pineville 14

will this be the first playoff win ever for Allen Central?

Pineville should have defeated Harlan. That was the game that decided second and third place in District 7. It was at Pineville, but the muddy field conditions certainly favored Harlan. Pineville is third seed and Allen Central is not #1, I believe it is Pikeville. This should be a 2 vs. 3. Pineville was in every game they played with the exception of Hazard. The common opponent scores of the games Pineville and AC played are nearly identical. Strong running teams such as Estill County and McCreary Central who were larger players and schools should have prepared the Mountain Lions well for AC's offense. Add to that the great special teams play of Pineville, perhaps gives them an edge. District 7 features the two top kickers in Eastern Kentucky, in Hazard's Delpont and All State Kicker Monte Merrick's (2008 Bell County State Champs, now of WKU) younger brother, Senior Lion Al Merrick. Merrick has nearly a 90% touchback ratio, and has 7 field goals on the year, each catagory surpassing Delpont. Merrick had his only miss of the season that was not a block on a last second attempt to pull out the victory last Friday night's 1 point loss to Willliamsburg on Senior Night. He should come into the game hungry, as will all the Mt. Lion Seniors. AC has the advantage of a touchdown for home field advantage. If Pineville can contain the running game and keep AC from scoring more than five touchdowns, I believe their offense and special teams can pull out the victory. This should be a great playoff game.

That's great! Lots of older fans in Pineville who cannot make the long trip. I know they will appreciate it! Many of them will be with us on Log Mountain as the Bobcats host Greenup County. Always see lots of earphones at the game! LOL!
