Hazard will need to get by Phelps, then will have a tough test in stoping the running attack from Allen Central. Hazard will need to tackle better and cut down on the turnovers. Then we should see a Hazard / Pikeville region title game.

4A- Boyle County
5A- Harlan County
these teams above would perhaps be the 2 most dangerous teams to make a run through the playoffs in those classes, Boyle County will be monstrous through December, and Harlan County will be tremendous til December IMO.

4A I think Lexington Catholic is being over looked in that region. Everyone is talking about Boyle. After the first round you will have some good games there. Holmes, LC and Boyle in the same region. LC in an upset to come out of the region.

Actually if Holmes were to beat Lexcath (dont think so) then Boyle would have to play at Holmes providing they also win their second round game.(which they will)
I would think it would be a pretty good atmosphere in Covington if they were to upset Lexcath and have Boyle have to play up there. I love the playoffs.

Thanks...I sure if the game would be at Boyle or Holmes, but I agree it'd be a great atmosphere is Holmes were to upset LC and then host Boyle.
Holmes has never advanced past the second round as far as I can remember. Their last playoff loss actually came to Lexcath in the 2003 playoffs first round.

jetpilot Wrote:Yes you are missing a few things. Hazard just lost to a team that had lost 5 in a row (Clay Co.) and gave up 470 yards in the process, including 339 on the ground. Any decent Pikeville team of the past would rout this Hazard team, without anyone 1/10 as good as Hackney and Deramus. Having said that, the winner of the Pikeville/Hazard game can't beat LCA. And Raceland has already lost 40-0 to LCA so they are out of the conversation.
In 2007 Raceland lost to LCA 42-7 in the regualar season. Raceland played them again in the playoffs and lost on a last second fieldgoal by the eagles 34-32.

Union County is playing very well right now and for the first time in several weeks just about everyone is healthly. Robison and Foster are healthly now
and how they go, the team goes. Defense playing very well and is probably the best defense in recent years at UC. If the new coach lets them open it up a little, they can score a lot of points. They are home for the playoffs until the championship game as long as they win and that is an advantage.
If the Braves keep a good attitude and do not get over confident, they could
go very deep and give Central a good game in the semi's and who knowa the
final result.

Those are two teams that are for certain flying under the radar. How quickly we forget that Breathitt was the clear favorite in the east starting the season. If they were to ever click then they will be very very dangerous. And Sheldon Clark was in the game with Belfry when their starting backfield went down. They are a solid team that played most of two district games not at full strength. So they are also a team to watch out for.

Paducah Tilghman could be a big sleeper, they are loaded with talent and if they ever find themselves they could run roughshod in the playoffs

The same could be said about Danville in 2A.

I agree and P-burg in 2A is pretty darn good.

1. Rowan Co.- Cross is a very good back, and they have several other great playmaker. With the type of team speed they have, they could give an elite team fits.
2. Sheldon Clark- A very good team, that has had a bunch of bad breaks this season. They were a half away from being district champs, then a half later they fell to a 3 seed.
3. Shelby Valley- Valley is in a loaded region. They have a tough road ahead, but i belive they are a contender. Shelby Valley hasnt been handled by a team all year. LC, Clintwood and Pburg are a combined 28-2 this year. This team will go as far as BJ carries them.
4. Butler- They draw Simon Kenton in the first round. A possible upset in the first round, because the bears have a quality team that can beat anyone outside of ST. X IMO.. watch out if they pull a first round upset.
5. Bryan Station- Dark horse out of central KY. Tevin Mccaden is a great back, and the defenders have been close the last couple of years to being a major force.
6 Western- With tough loses to Bryan station, Male, Ballard, Butler and Desales. Western won their district with ease and have a unblimished record to everyone not in 6A. The region 2 in not that strong. So Western can make a very FAST run through the playoffs.

please explain half away deal about sheldon clark?

It was my understanding that Sheldon Clark-Belfry game was a good one. When you lose your starting half backs. Your chance of winning goes to nothing. ex. Belfry Vs JC. No Thomas Varney, first every win for JC over Belfry/
Sheldon Clark losses its backs, gets blown out in the second half by Belfry. Then gets embarrased by Pike Central the next week.
So Sheldon Clark goes into the playoffs with a 3 Seed.
Wins over Breathitt, Johnson Central, Pikeville
Loses to Belfry, Lawrence, Pburg and PCC.
This is very dangerous team that will have to be on the road in the playoffs, that could and IMO will go into someone elses house(higher seed), and knock em out.
My guess would be Russell in the first round.

In 1A i see Hazard as being a very dangerous team throughout the playoffs. Also, i think that people better watchout for Pikeville because they played an insane out of class schedule that i think has them more prepared than what people are aware. In 2A i really see Shelby Valley being dangerous be they played a tough close game with Prestonsburg and think that will halp them in the playoffs. In 3A there are two dangerous teams really one is Belfry but i thinl evryone already knows that they have the best chance to upset Somerset and go to state! But, i also think that Breathitt Co is really dangerous, they just started to ome around towards the end of the season and they're gonna bring that into the playoffs! Look out for Channing Fugate!! I don't see any dangerous teams in 4A imo. In 5A i think Johnson Central could do alot more damage than what people expect just because they're on a roll and they have the atttude that no one is gonna stop them. Also in 5A i thinki Letcher Central has the ability to upset Highlands, i know im going out on a limb but imo i thinkthey can do it!! And i see no suprise teams in 6A.

Bell Co Bobcats. Last year Boyle Co was undefeated when Bell Co beat them. This years Bell team is much better than the 08 squad!

Fugate, Haddix , and the rest of the Bobcats will steamroll everyone that gets in their way to the championship. Breathitt's season has just began. It is time to let the "Big Dog" eat. Channing will be unstoppable in the playoffs.

i think CAL could raise some eyebrows in 2a they played DeSales very close till the end as well as LCA. given another shot at desales in the third round i think they could take em

I am going to have to go with my boys down at Ryle. I know nobody gives them credit, but they have the ability to change everything. I know that the chances of them beating St. X this week are slim. But if they play thier best game and St. X doesn't come ready to play, they have a shot. I know its a long shot but if thery can get past of X they can get to state. Ryle has the skill and the depth to be a contender this year.
