And, IMHO, we had more than a couple of guys who were intimidated by Ironton. Same story, different year.Rolleyes

BTW....Matt Maynard wasn't one of them. And yes folks, he is a baller.
I agree with everything you said.... when it was 19-7 we were one play and/or one more missed tackle away from getting blown out.

I also want to add that it amazes me that Maynard and Chapman both average over ten yards per carry in this game yet only carry the ball 14 times total. When we ran these backs inside they payed huge dividends to us. Ironton was far too fundamentally sound and prepared for our option but we went to it at least 8-9 times...twice it resulted in fumbles, the other times it maybe gained a grand total of zero net yards.

Ditto......Maynard & Chapman need more carries.

And the option will not work when the QB gets 5 yards deep in the backfield.

I really thought Belfry would get Ironton this year, goodluck to the pirates the rest of the season

Belfry had there chances on winning this game they just got stopped on offence bc Ironton is a big football team and they run the wishbone every year i guess a team of that caliber is going to beat them.

I really hate to see the series come to an end. Ironton was the one game of the year to really judge the Pirates by. Yeah, I know that the series was extremely lopsided with Belfry winning only 1 game in the 12 years that we played them, but I would rather play a team like Ironton then pad the schedule with sure wins.

I really think that there were 2 or 3 games in which Belfry had every opportunity to pull off a victory, but let Ironton intimidate them out of the win. I have to give props to Ironton for being such a disciplined team. I love the way they stand on the line of scrimmage and then all go into position at the same time. Very well choreographed and timed.
