From what i have heard he is not going to coach anywhere else next year. I have heard he is taking time off to spend with his family.

A very wise mentor of mine, former defensive coach of mine, advised me on a couple of issues and it has stuck. 1. "To be a successful coach you must first be a successful teacher." 2."A coaching salary does not pay the bills."
If a coach is a teacher in his\her respected school then he\she must be one of the top educators in that school. "Lead by example"
But then again I am OLD SCHOOL when it comes to tecahin and coaching.

The coaches never have a problem with it however the Pikeville AD has always vetoed the idea if you will. Hopefully though you are correct with the prestige as a coach that Chapman will bring. Has this been clarified yet because the last time I talked to David Rowe he was still uncertain of Mac leaving? I didnt have the time to read all 3 pages due to im going to class right now. If anyone could give me any more information that would be correct. Mac if you have left us again we will miss you.

Wonder for what school? First time I've seen a Head Football Coach as a requirement.

You can probaly tell by my name I am a hugh bobcat fan. Coach Chapman would be a horrible loss in bobcat nation. If he chooses to go He will be missed and I will be cheering for him. I wish him the best. But only cheering when he is not playing my beloved Bobcats. Good luck in whatever you do Coach.

I can see Pike Centrals thoughts on wanting him, I just cant see what Chapman is thinking. To good of a coach to settle for that job.

Out with the old, and in with the new. Coach Mac has been removed as Head Ball Coach @ P.C and replaced by Coach Chapman (Breathitt Co.). :wenumber1 :letsparty :runtouchd
P.S. Let's here from the Hawk Nation !
It didn't work out so great for Pikeville the first time this happened, did it?

Being a GREAT Assistant Coach does not mean that you will be a successful Head Coach!! There is a lot of things that play into it. If PC wants Chapman to succeed, they will hired him 3 of 4 good assistant coaches that he can trust. I don't care how good of a head coach you are, your assistants complete the equation.

Wonder why he went after the Greenup and North Laurel job really hard if this statement is true?

I guess when the Powers that be wanted him out of Pikeville, there was always his old buddy Eddie McCoy to hook him up. :moon:
I guess no state title like McCoy promised.
Kind of like how Massie got run out of Bourbon on a Friday and the new coach is named on a Monday.

The statement concerning the field at PCCHS, IMO! is uncalled for. I know plenty of athletic programs with sub standard facilities but they are successful... and even produced state qualifiers and state champions.
You can have a muti-million dollar complex with the most expensive uniforms and the highest paid coaches and still wash out.
The facilities and uniforms do not produce winners. Its want is inside of the students\athlete...This is just old school thinking.

Well, IF the rumors are true about Chapman leaving, maybe Holcomb could use him as an asst. or defensive coach.

I am not from the area that's why I asked. The first game I ever watched in Pike County was at that stadium.

If Chapman is so good, what happened in Pikeville? If you can't win at Pikeville, how can you possible win at Pike Central?
hammertime Wrote:Did you play directly for Chapman during his stint at Pikeville? In my honest opinion I think you are on something if you think that Macnamee is as good as Chapman. I think Macnamee needs to refind his passion for the game that gave him so much. Chapman is a better coach than 90% of the head coaches in KY. Give him time and see what happens.

If coach is able given control of the program top to bottom he will be able to put a winning team on the field. If, he is not given control of the progam he will be coaching somewhere else in a year maybe two.
I say give the coach the keys to the bus and let him drive.

I thought this thread was about the new Pike Central Coach. Why are "the Pikeville people all over it?" Are some of Pikeville's kids going to Pike Central or something?

The head coach is only as good as the people he gets to help him...No matter who is the new coach, if they do not have competant assistants, the team will not be as good as it can be...

Does Chapman get to pick his assistants? I'm sure he will take his son with him to Pike county to help him out.

10 years ago they were different but Pikeville right now doesn't cast any type of shadow down on Pike Central or any other school. Play in a real district like PC does and You would see some major differences.
