IMO Lawrence is one of the top teams in the 15th this year. But Shelby Valley has a stacked team and will be very difficult to beat.

Yes they are stacked, they are kinda getting like paintsville with all the transfers.I think they got pikeville's big man this year?Just wonder how many are home grown

Devan Adams is the only transfer on Valley's team. Justice, the Newsome's, Hatfield, Tackett, Bryant, and Varney all came from a Valley feeder school.

Paintsville has had two transfers in the past 4 years that made a difference and that was Murray from JC and Ferguson, who use to play for Paintsville but moved to Florida and come back his senior year.

they may have come from the feeder school but that doesnt mean they are home grown they may have transfered to play ball in middle school. im pretty sure slone came from allen central his 8th grade or freshmen year to play for paintsville :ChairHit:

This is true. I do believe Slone lived right next door to Allen Central.

Well stated, at least as far as I define transfer, which is kids that transfer after their freshman year. But what's wrong with transfers anyway? If it passes the KHSAA muster so what. It happens all of the state all of the time. Rose Hill bussed in their kids the year they won the 16th Region. OJ Mayo was definitely a transfer. lol

It might pass the KHSAA rules but wouldn't you like to see true teams instead of a team being stacked with people from all around? It doesn't affect us much around here but in some places it really screws the competition up and is kind of unfair in a way.

Yes it does screw up competition. It's basically cheating.

slone came from MCA his 8th grade year.

Well upsets happen, but don't count on it. I personally think JC will win the 57th district, and LC will be runner up. Neither has a shot at Valley though. This year and next year, this region will belong to Shelby Valley.

Sounds to me like Valley thinks there is no one that even should show up when it comes to playing them.

I agree with you! It is very unfair. You guys were in the 16th still when Rose Hill stacked the deck. You know how it worked. And for teams like Scott Co. although there are others, it creates an unfair advantage. But in a mobile society and with private schools like Rose Hill, not to mention magnet centers like Georgetown, what do you do about it?

They could always build a car factory in Lawrence Co. or somewhere in EKY. lol

Of course, from what I'm told, back before my time, Pike and Letcher Counties used that same tactic for football back in the old coal camp days. Give mommy or daddy a job and move them in. lol
