Somthing that bugged me:
I was watching the game playback on a local TV station, and could hear many JC fans cheering when Drew's arm got hurt and he was on the ground holding it. That's classless to cheer when someone gets injured.

Charlie Dotson-96 yards
Ivan Lee 69 yards
Thomas Varney 50 plus yards
Belfry had no passing attempts
JC 5-13
Welch 4 catches
Belfry holds JC to less than half their rushing yardage.
JC holds Belfry to about 100 plus less than their average.
Wow I did not realize that Belfry did not pass none at all.
What kind of offense do you guys run? Wing T, Wishbone?
I'm pretty sure it's not the A11 or the Spread.

They run a Wishbone. They had attempted to pass, but Elkins kept the ball.

could anyone guess on how many people was there to watch this game?

Wasn't as much there as I thought that there would be. The away side that "Pond Creek Nation" sat on was filled but JC's side had lots of available seats remaining.
If I had to guess I say roughly 2500-3000.

i will hand it to the Pirates they came in there and hit Central right in the mouth...however a lot of the loss should fall into the arms of the coach...Matney..because as u were saying he should have went for the extra point..y try taking the lead when belfry has been clogging up the hole all night...but coaches as well as players learn from mistakes..and i believe after this loss Central has something to prove..and will come out on the Friday of the playoffs and go to the Championship..that's right im calling it..Central will beat Holmes then Ashland and finally Highlands to make it to the championship..they are a better team then what they showed last Friday at Home to the Pirates..and can possibly win a state title this year...good luck to Belfry as well because they also could win a title in their class..

Johnson Central would likely play CovCath in rd 2 and Ashland would play Highlands. Then JC and Highlands would match up in rd 3.

I think Bryan Station has a very good chance against Highlands. They have the size, speed, and athleticism to stay in this game. If they beat them, which would be the upset of the century. But I do believe that have the ability to pull the upset.

You got to be kidding! Highlands has dominated last two weeks and shut out two teams that are bigger, faster, and better than Bryan Station. Look for another shut out.

Showtime_05 Wrote:If i not mistaken I think Charlie Dotson started against Ironton in 2005
Charlie didn't start, but he played quite a bit in that game.
By the way, I may have jumped the gun a little bit when I answered, but I still think '01 was the last time a freshman started before the '08 game. However, when I was answering I was thinking about freshman who were full-time starters & I can only think of two in the last 20-25 years.
Here's a hint about the player I mentioned. The player who started in '01 as a freshman started all but the first two games of the season that year. The team was defeated by the Prestonsburg team that went to state & lost to Bardstown.
The other played the same position in '93 on the last Belfry team I remember having a losing record.
Jonah Caudill and Curtis Childress may have started at times as freshmen, but I couldn't say for sure if they were full-time.

You can point to many things that led to the outcome of this game, including the fake punt. But IMO the biggest deciding factor was the Belfry Pirates Defense!! They stopped JC, they made big plays and they are what gave Belfry the win!! They should get the credit. They stopped JC almost every time that it was crucial to do so and limited the Eagle offensive output.
You can bash Matney, you can say JC was flat, you can applaud Haywood's fake punt call, you can give props to the many outstanding offensive guys on both teams, but the Pirate fans need to give the Defense a big pat on the back because without their effort and determination in this game, the Pirates would have lost!!
Good job by the Pirate D in stopping what no school this season has been able to stop and that is the mighty JC offense!

Jonah I believe was the same way...
I am pretty positive both started at some point during their Freshman campaign but I don't think neither was a full-time starter.

How about next time just send me a pm asking me what I meant instead of accusing me of something in a open forum I did not do. DEAL?

Up front I don't think Belfry is close to the size of JC. JC is huge! Lee on the other hand is real big for a skill offensive player.
