Doug howard was should have went to willamson but he went to belfry. and it is hard telling how many other decided to go to belfry there senior year just to play football. all i am saying is they have alot of schools around them to get the players they need.
Name me 1 player that has tranferd to Sheldon Clark

You are correct that Jones did not attend Belfry all four years.
Doug Howard attended Pike County schools from the time he didn't even know what an option was.

It is not hard telling how many "went to Belfry their senior year just to play football".. that answer is ZERO

Right off the top of my head the Xavier, I believe hgis last name was Mitchell, kid who transferred from greenup County his Junior or Senior year.

If that's what it takes to disqualify whether a transfer is legit or not, then DavidJones transferred for academics.

Belfry Middle School did not exist back when Dave was in school. Sorry, but BMS has only been around for 4 years now!

If Belfry comes to play ball then its gonna be a good game. I do belive that Coach Haywood will have them ready and they (the boys) must execute what they have been working on in order to have a positive outcome!!!!

Go Pirates!!!

Thats how it should be..come out on friday night and prove how good your team is!! dont get on here and try to hype them up or give reasons why they should win!!

Go Cards!

The most important thing is for both teams to have a good game and hopefully be injury free. These two teams have a legitimate shot to play each other again. I don't believe in looking ahead too much, but I am going to anyway. Whoever wins this Friday plays at home and the other team has to go on the road starting in the second round. Let's look hypothetically. Belfry 1 and SC 2 in this district and Russell 1 and Mason Co. 2 in the other district. Belfry and SC will be big favorites in the first round. In the second round SC would go to Russell. There is no reason that SC could not go up there and beat a Russell team that has been very inconsistent. This would be the type of win that would continue the progression of the program in a positive way. It would be much like the win SC had over Leslie Co. on the road a few years ago. If SC ever wants to achieve the success that Belfry has achieved, then they need to consistently win games like this and ultimately challenge Belfry every year. Good Luck to both and from the way the weather forescast looks, we may all need our ponchos Friday night.

Our boys have already forgotten about that game and they are looking ahead to the prize.. DISTRICT.. and they will come out firing on all cylinders.. better watch out Pirates..:devilflam

There is no way to know exactly how bad Bell would have beaten Belfry. Belfry's players have much more experience in big games than does SC, which is a relatively young team.

There is a huge reason they transfer to Belfry and not Sheldon Clark. Figure it out or I will post the reason.
Belfry 21
SC 7

There is more than one reason... Wink

This game will be determined just as all the other SC/Belfry games have been determined using these percentages:

50% Line Play
20% Physical Conditioning/Depth
10% Coaching (or overcoaching)
10% Emotion
10% Turnover Margin

The two year's SC has defeated Belfry they have done it by creating a surge in the running game up front, by coming up with key 4th Quarter drives, by sticking to the basics and not going for it on 4th and 3 in thier own territory while still in the first half, by being the aggressor, and by winning the turnover margin.

The typical Belfry/SC matchup consist of the Pirates controlling the LOS and ultimately wearing down a less deep SC team, the SC coach usually makes a costly playcall or decision way too early in the game, the Cards come out too fired up and in turn play tight and turn the ball over.

It all starts up front... whoever wins the L.O.S. wins this game..PERIOD
I'll take the Cards 34 28 in a very good game!!
SC 21 Belfry 16
Ill give you one man who will turn this game around Josh Penix!!!!!

Didn't all the kids go to Riverside, Runyon, or Matewan. Then pay Tuition for Belfry High School?

I agree with this. I happened to play on one of those teams that beat belfry. We did it by winning on the LOS.
This game will be closer than most think. The gap between Belfry and SC is not that great. Belfry has not played anyone this year. Belfry barely beat Lawrence, Rowan killed LC, and SC killed Rowan.

For the person that said Bell will not play Belfry you need to check your sources. I was in the room when Coach Hilton called Coach Haywood about playing next year. Coach Haywood said it could not be fit in the schedule.

Please be sure of what you are saying, b/c someone always knows the truth.
Pirates will Pluck the Birds............
BTW I live in Alabama from Martin co. so i kind of have to rely on legit posters to know just how good certain teams are.
Ah, I DO love the Sheldon Clark confidence BUT in all honesty this one goes to the Pirates! They will be out for revenge!

P.S. The Pirates said thanks for getting the lights up because they are looking forward to knocking them out!
Belfry lost 6 starters from last year's team. Of those returning, all of them were there 2 years ago. They're being drilled this week with that knowledge. Drew, Corey, Charlie, and Thomas are a lot more disciplined than the Belfry stars from the loss. They will not make the same mistake. ****, I think even Ivan will be pumped up for this game and will play tough Tongue

As for SCHS doing better against common opponents, you might want to look at the scores by quarter. It tells an interesting story if you pay attention. Also, I would have to say that yes, LCHS is a different animal with their QB at the helm.

I WAS going to defend David and Doug here, but deleted that and chose not to. Anyone who thinks either of them shouldn't have been at Belfry and is open to listening to the truth can contact me via email: I'm not hijacking this thread over that.
Another key to this game will be special teams, IMO.

The Pirates' kick coverage unit has been simply dreadful thusfar. If you recall the SC win two years ago, it was Dials' kick returning that provided the spark that SC built off of. The Pirates also do not know what a punt is... I believe Belfry's starters have punted maybe 3 or 4 times total, if that.

Belfry has a distinct advantage in XP/FG kicking, and have range to about 40 yards, which could be huge if this game is close. Belfry also has a pair of kick returners in Varney and Lovern who have yet to really get many opportunities to return kicks. Belfry simply hasn't give up many touchdowns on their varsity defense, and when teams have kicked off it has more often than not been squib kicks fielded by the up-backs. On defense, Belfry has forced alot of turnovers thus reducing the number of punts. Last year Lovern and Varney single handidly outscored opposing offenses with their Kick Return TD's.

Being honest, there is nothing that indicates to me that SC should control this game. BUT, with a few bounces and big play, like a kick return, they may position themselves to win this game down the stretch.
