A couple should dress varsity. Goodwin may be the only one recieving much playing time early in the season tho.

I've been reading the posts on here and imo Powell Co. will miss Christian more than you think. As far as PHS2006's comments about 1 on 5 and all the other stuff said. I played ball and I know for a fact that sometimes a coach will have a player do those kind of things to get some energy going or make something happen. In Christians case sometimes it was good and sometimes not so good. Christian carryed the team many times I don't care what you say. He did alot of great things at Powell Co. and I don't see any reason why he won't at GRC either. He was put on the varsity sqaud as a freshman and started a few games so I think the coach saw something good in him. I just think that Powell will not do as good without him. Sorry!

i think powell county will miss christian. He is a solid guard who can lead a team when he needs to. But in the end powell county can replace him with some young sophmores and freshman. Christian is a very good player but i think he can be replaced.... Also I hear former star Jon Conley is comin out this year and will be a great addition down low for his senior year. And does anyone know anything about what underclassmen will make varsity cause im an upperclassmen and i dont know many of them.

Goodwin will more then likely be the only Freshman recieving playing time. Creech and Reed are two very talented sophmores that will help this team out a tremendous amount.

Atleast you and I agree on this! I think Reed and Creech are good ball players but it's going to take both of them to makeup the loss of Christian. What I mean by that is that Reed shoots well but does'nt handle the ball as well. Creech handles the ball well but does'nt shoot as well. To me from what I've seen Christian did both well! Plus he was the point guard which is'nt that easy of a position to play. I do think that Powell will be fine without him. Just going to hate not seeing him play here this year and next year. Good luck Pirates!

this will be true since Powell just got a transfer Devan Evans

new player evans will help out and be a star player if he gets his eligabilty for this year. Powell county should be strong with evans and conley as key additions. look for a 56th title

Devan has not moved to Powell County yet. Not even certain that he will.

well if he does that will boost Powell way up in the rankings

he wont be eligible to play at powell in my opinion.... he was lucky that he was eligible when he first went to owsley.... if eligibility was that easy then noble along with salyers should have not sit out all of last season...

I have heard Evans will play for Powell this year, not really sure though.
10-18-2008, 02:21 PM
Evans has moved to powell but i dont know if he'll be able to play, and conley will be playing this year
10-18-2008, 05:20 PM
Also i read a post on the first page about the freshman Goodwin being 6'3 and being able to dunk cleanly, in reality hes 5'11, he can dunk though.

Prett sure he's still at owsley PoCo.

he might be i just heard he was here, if he wouldnt be eligible it wouldnt make much sense to move know that i think about it.

He would not be eligible so there is really no sense in moving unless he really wants to be at Powell County that bad!

i heard that he is not eligble to play this and that he will be playing for owlsey but i also heard that he will be playing for powell his senior year

Powell will do very good this year without brewer as pg.... They will have Creech running the pg this year hes a young but very skilled player, with Crowe at the two, Hawkins at the three, Arvin an Rice at the four and five... With a young bench with some good shooters on it including Reed who can shoot the 3 ball very well.

Powell has no chance this year. They have had so many coach changes, that they can never get ready for the up-comming season. Maybe if they would stick with a coach for a year, instead of switching between coaches every other day, they might have a chance. But, then again, with players that bad, I'd quit too. :/
10-22-2008, 10:03 AM
You obviously don't know much about the Powell County basketball program. Coaches don't leave because of the players, they leave for better opportunities which is what everyone in life should shoot for. Coach Lively has always wanted to be a principal and the opportunity opened up, so he took it. You can't blame him for that. He did not leave because of the players. Coach Coldiron who was the coach before Lively left for reasons outside of basketball. His decision had nothing to do with the basketball program. I love you people who seem to know all, when you don't know anything.

Im glad you think you know what your talking about! Powell had 2 great seasons under coach Lively and im sure Brian Hall will be able to continue that sucess. Hawkins and Crowe are two very talented senior guards that you will notice alot as the season progresses. Look for powell to pull some upsets folks. irateSho

Powell will have a very good program this year... They are underrated but that just makes them better... Hawkins is going to blow people's minds this year... He has got alot better over the off season and with Crowe an Rice coming back as well that makes them an even better team... they will have a very young bench that will get alot of good mins for Powell... They will be very physical with Nolan an Arvin coming back for their junior year... They have alot of good shooters with Reed, Crowe, Hawkins, an Creech worked alot on his shot over the off season

In a word terrible.

I'm surprised that you all believe everything that these coaches say. Just because they claim to be "leaving for better opportunities", doesn't exactly make it true. Oh and...
I constitute having a "great" season as going to the championship game, or at least close. Powell has failed at that since the beginning of time.
