OMG Wrote:These are all irrelevant excuses for the same result...They Lost. The fact remains that UK was not the only team put into these situations. Every team left in the tournament has these same obstacles to overcome in regards to the stadium. I understand that they had a bad shooting day. You think the committee cares? You think they are going to say, "Oh well they just shot bad." No, I don't think they will.
They had a whole lot bigger of a crowd there today than any other of the 4 teams that had to play in Tech's gym.
The layoff is not even a question. They have went 4 days without a game and still won a couple of times, and I don't think that extra day contributed to the loss.
The bottomline is the fact that UK had the same things against them as the rest of the teams in the SEC and they just didn't show up to play and lost. No other excuse, they just didn't show up today!
Turning a Home game into a Road game and having an extra long layoff vs a team who has played recently but has also had adequate rest is irrelevant?
Kentucky at Home - 14-4
Kentucky on the Road/Neutral - 4-8
That looks pretty irrelevant.
Kentucky record after an extended rest of 6 days or more
2-4
That looks pretty irrelevant, too.
Do a little bit of research before you make claims that something does or does not effect a team. Those are very relevant reasons for a team to be favored to win or lose a game. Ask Vegas and their point spreads whether it matters, because it does.
You still haven't answered my original posed question, though. Do you think it's more likely that Kentucky got lucky 6 times in SEC plays as you suggested to finish with a record of 12-4 as opposed to 6-10 as you suggest they should have had, or is it more likely that UK had a bad game today under unforeseen circumstances in which many aspects lined up against UK out of their control?

It doesn't matter how much research you do or how many excuses you come up with why the lost. The fact still remains they lost! All your doing is giving excuses that doesn't change the fact they lost.
They got beat by a team who coming into the tournament lost 11 of their last 13 games. That is not an NCAA caliber team. A team that makes the tournament should be able to go on the road and win games, that's what the tournament is, you don't play at home during the NCAA tournament, so their road record should come into play.
And yes there are a lot of the games in which they ended up winning that could of gone either way, and they did good to win those, and were very lucky to do so. I do commend them for not folding up shop after Patterson went down, but i'm sick and tired of seeing all of you make excuses for ever time they lose.
Just except the fact they didn't show up and they got their butts handed to them, and it could quite possibly cost them a bid in the tournament. I hope they do make it i've been a fan since birth, but you have to be realistic to. If your always biast then your always gonna come up with the same excuse after excuse after excuse, etc.
I am really tired of arguing with you though so unless you have another point besides the ones you've already listed i'm done.

No excuses are being made. I gave reasons why this game shouldn't outweigh the other 16 SEC games UK competed in this season. I gave UGA all the credit for playing a great game and winning. I also stated that you have to play the cards that are dealt and deal with the results. I never made a claim that UK should have won today.
My entire point of posting on this thread was because you claimed that UK only should have won 6 SEC games this year as opposed to 12 because they played a single bad game. You want to discount atleast 6 SEC victories by UK because of this single game which was unlike in nature to any game played in the modern era of basketball. You're putting more eggs into the basket of a single ball game as opposed to a full season's worth which isn't fair to a team.

Actually I said "IF" they played them all again they would be lucky to win 6 of them. Never did that mean they should have only won 6, but that it would be hard for them to equal the same number of wins they got this year with this same team. Due to the fact that the games could have went either way. I think you just read into what I said a little too literal. Are we done now?

This is from ESPN:
"Weather postponed the Wildcats' SEC quarterfinal until Saturday, but it shouldn't matter as far as UK's at-large status. What went down around the country Thursday pretty much makes Kentucky safe. Yes, a loss to Georgia wouldn't be great, but almost everyone else lost, and the Cats appeared to be on the right side of the cut line before that. If they get in, it would be an incredible recovery from their early-season injuries, performance woes and the late loss of Patrick Patterson for the season. There are some ugly numbers in the profile -- namely no nonleague win in the top 250, no road win anywhere in the top 140 and 5-10 against the top 100 -- but the SEC surge when the roster got healthy definitely carries weight as the Cats are one of the few teams pushing their way in instead of out."

It still says "IF" they get in, and it never said they were a lock. I don't think even ESPN expected them to lose to Georgia.

Yeah I heard that also.

Not if Georgia and Illionis win.

I agree that they are a lock

If Georgia wins UK is out of the tournament

How about Dayton RPI of 32
Illinois State RPI 33
Creighton RPI 46
If you just go by the RPI here are 3 teams more deserving and there are more teams out there.

Top 10 in what, surely not SOS. If the committee isn't going on RPI why do they make such a big deal about it. UK didn't play anyone outside SEC other than NC and UofL. Look it's good they made it because it's UK but it still dosen't make it right. Any team that has more than 10 losses IMO shouldnt be in the NCAA. Now one can take
my opinion and a dollar and get a cup of coffee, that's all it's worth anyway.

Looked like UK was a lock before the GA game. Or it helped UK by GA winning the SEC Tourny.

This website has Uk listed at #19 on SOS. Some of the earlier bubble watches had Uk at a lower SOS though, but i'm not sure what it was.

Through this past week I've seen UK get as low as #12 on SOS, but now they seem to be ranked from 17-19. OMG's link has #19 and the only other link I could find was this one with a #17 SOS for the Cats.
