I dont think this rivalry is gonna cool down anytime soon, I dont care who Pikeville or SV loses, these are always going to be good games for the next couple of years.

Next Year's Main Players
SV(loses J. Bryant and Justice)
E.Justice
L.Bryant(senior)
A.Hatfield
T. Newsome(with an ACL tear)
Pikeville(loses Bell and Honaker)
Clevenger(senior)
Adams(senior)
Clark(with some needed experience)
IMO SV will have a hard time replacing the losses of J. Bryant and J. Justice, Pikeville will really only miss Honakers's Toughness and Strength...IMO this makes Valley go deeper in the Bench...The Injury for Newsome may be hard to overcome...Pikeville will need someone to step-up and do what Tim has done for them this year...Only time will tell...
The following year Pikeville will not be as strong...Yes, Valley will have Justice, Hatfield and Newsome...But the loss of L. Bryant and the rest of the juniors from this year could be pretty bad...But like i said only time will tell...

Don't gauge this game by any means that last weak was a fluke. Just like several other teams, the flu bug had hit ours and many players were playing with fevers, and hence were lethargic. If we were as bad as you say we were, you would have beaten us, then Paintsville, and then you would be at the all A classic. But your not. I do feel sorry that in some aspects parents didn't raise their children better. Children are born innocent. What they are taught should be to love everyone. This world will be a much better place once we do.

SV was also hit by the bug, J.Bryant was sick before the game and still came out and had a awesome game.

Typical Pikeville attitude. Nice superiority complex.

I was referring to anyone in this world who has a problem with being around someone who is different than they are. And that doesn't just mean Pikeville or Pike Co.

In the All "A" Valley didn't apply as much pressure, which allowed Pikeville to control the tempo of the game. Valley absolutely controlled the tempo of this game and Pikeville cannot hang with them at that pace. Bart was given alot of praise for his gameplan in the All "A", but Pikeville wasn't prepared for what they saw in this game. I think Booher deserves credit for his gameplan this time around... Hopefully they will continue to apply this type of pressure for the rest of the season...
I gave credit to Bart Williams in the All A game, so I'll return the favor to Booher this time. For whatever reason, the real SV didn't show up at the All A and Booher should have put more pressure on the Panthers. Williams gameplan allowed Pikeville to set the tempo. That is why Williams got my  at that time. But Booher had his team ready this time and it doesn't appear that Williams or his team could do much about it. Congrats to Booher and Valley!

I would love to watch this game when both teams are having a great game. I think it would be a close one.

I stand by my post!! SV and Paintsville are much better than the other teams in the region this year. No saying that will be the case every year because it wont'. And I'm not saying that SV or Paintsville can't be beat by other teams in the region. We know that is certainly possible. But they really are the top two teams this season. Just look at the records and the quality of their opponents. Their records speak for themselves. Paintsville has no regional losses this year. SV only has one and even though they were the better team, they didn't play like it on that night so they lost. Come Sweet Sixteen time, maybe Paintsville or SV will not be there, BUT they are the best two teams and one of them should be. Can't see how anyone can disagree with this post. I guess if they do, it would be the same people that would argue that UK is the best SEC team this year.

I agree 100%, SV allowed Pikeville to control the tempo in the All A, but SV got in control early on Friday and never let Pikeville have a chance.

Pikeville needs to stick to football like SV needs to stick to basketball. Absolutely pitiful performance from Pikeville. I am still embarrassed to have said I was at the game. Pikeville was outcoached and outplayed in every aspect of the game. There was no emotion or want to in the Panthers Friday night. They acted like they didn't even care if they won or not. I saw one kid giving it his all and not giving up. This was even after he got his mouth busted. Win by 11, then lose by 24 a week later. Sounds like somebody didn't have the Panthers ready to play.

Congats to SV on a well played game, you played harder and better than the Panthers.
I believe one factor was the timing of this game for the Panthers. They played three games in a week. SV had all week to prepare for the Panthers. You could tell that the Panthers were sluggish and didn't have the intensity that they had in ther last meeting.
I don't think they would have beaten SV, but it would have been a much better game.
Again, hats off to the Wilcats for a well executed game.

It sounds to me like you are making excuses for the Panthers. Plain and simple they got out played and out coached the entire game. Someone said that Pikeville lost this game because there was nothing to play for. I remember when every game was something to play for. You play for pride especially in a district game like this one where the two teams dislike each other so much. This type of attitude still blows my mind.

I agree, if someone said there was nothing at stake for Pikeville then they haven't been keeping up. It so happens that if the Panthers won, they would've been in the driver's seat for the district #1 seed and the accompanying first-round bye. So there was plenty at stake, especially against a hated rival.
I too was shocked at the score, but that happens sometimes. Is Valley really 24 points (or even 15 points) better than Pikeville? No. Is Pikeville 11 points better than Valley? No. The truth lies somewhere in between, SV is probably about 7-8 points better when both teams are playing at their best. But that rarely happens, usually one team has a down night compared to the other. That is why one week you can have Pikeville winning in an upset, then the next week getting blown out of the gym by the same team.

Maybe the next time we meet up, both teams can't claim illness or played too many games in one week. Then we'll know what the real score is.

Shelby Valley is definitely the superior team and the only team with a shot come tourney time to knock them off is Paintsville. Pikeville got hot and played a couple of good games. Dont look for that to happen again.

Everyone was looking forward to a Paintsville/Shelby Valley game and Valley overlooked Pikeville. In the 15th region, the only way we could have another Pikeville/Shelby Valley match up would be in the finals. It really doesnt matter if Valley over looks Pikeville or Paintsville for that matter if their shots isnt falling like they wasnt during the All A. Any team can be beaten on any night.
