University Heights vs Hazard (All "A" Classic State Championship)

divadawg Wrote:Some of you might remember an LSU player named Pistol Pete Maravich whose father was the LSU coach. I believe he averaged over 40 points per game and Kentucky was preparing to head to Baton Rouge to play them. A reporter was interviewing Coach Rupp and asked him how he planned to handle Maravich and beat LSU. He said..."We will stop the rest of the players from scoring and let Pete run loose. He can't beat us by himself." Maybe this will be our strategy. Let Scotty score and defense the rest of the team so well that they are unable to play their normal support roles. It's just a thought and it did work for Kentucky. Pete scored about 50 points and we beat them anyway.

Hope to see all you Hazard fans (as well as other basketball lovers from the mountains) at the game showing your support for our dogs!

Remember...it's not the size of the dog in the fight...it's the size of the fight in the dog!

Go Hazard!!! Beat UHA and bring home the trophy to the mountains where it belongs!
Its alot easier if the dog is big though.

I would love to see Hazard pull this one out but i think University Heights will be to much for Hazard.....hazard loses by 10.

I'll tell you what you have to do: Put your best big man on him and play aggressive. Scotty Hopson did not dominate the game against Paintsville and the Tigers are a small team. I personally don't think he is even in the top 15 in the nation. He is big and he could be great, but he is way too timid. Grimm had no trouble getting inside baskets off of him. It takes a lot more than 20 points or so and a flashy dunk or two to make yourself a top player in the nation. And that is all I seen yesterday from him. I'd block him out and make sure you protect the perimeter from their deadly 3 point shooters if they are hitting. Do that, hit your shots, protect the ball and the game is yours. UHA has very quick hands so beware. But like I said earlier, they are like a Ferrari going 35MPH around town. They don't play to their potential. But if you ignore them, or play bad, you can be down by double digits in no time.

But I agree with you man, dont get me wrong...I hope and pray that we can pull it off. I think that he cannot beat us by himself, but I believe that it will be one of the toughest games of the season so far for us. Good luck dawgs...bring home that trophy.
