I didnt hear any complaints about them at Valley. So why when they lose is it the refs fault?

They coached the same game between Pikeville and Paintsville. If they were calling the plays like they should, he would have called traveling, like everyone was screaming when he walked several steps going to the basket to force overtime.

2 of the three, hmm, so that one guy was who Pikeville payed off, JK, they did call the game a lot different, but I don't want to get into that, plenty of people know how bad the refs were.

I think this game all depends on how well shelby valley plays, if they come out and press and control the tempo and dont shoot a 3 every time down the court, then SV could win by 10+. But if Sv lets Pikeville control the game and play slower ball, then Pikeville could win again.
But IMO SV by 12.

Shelby Valley or Pikeville either one calls refs to come in and do the games. The refs are assigned to games. Bart or Jason either one has no control over the refs. Unless they blacklist one, which I heard threw the grapevine that Valley did. I am pretty sure that the first game at Valley, the game at Betsy Layne, and the upcoming game at Pikeville it will be refs with a lot of experience and not first or second year refs. Why complain about them when they do a good job at your gym and what you say isnt a good job in other gyms. Most of the time, they are the same people doing each game.

Agree completely... Officials like Mike Walker and Johnny Webb call with confidence... Mike Hall is an arrogant official. I think he brings alot of negative attention to his officiating with his attitude on the court.

I don't really have a problem with Fairchild. I think the technical he called against Logan Bryant looked bad because of how late it was (and that it was after so many Pikeville fans and players were screaming for a technical), but I won't argue that it wasn't the right call...

Valley should consider them selfs lucky. If he had missed the backboard and threw the ball up in the fan section. He very well could have been ejected from the game if that had happened. That would have meant that he wouldnt have been able to play in this game Friday night. How much talk would that have brought up?

The technical wasn't what caused Valley to lose the game anyway... I think Valley has played very complacent recently, and doesn't play with the intensity needed to beat a good team like Pikeville. I think Valley is a more talented team than Pikeville, but talent alone doesn't win ballgames.

I hope that Friday nights game is a hard played game. I hope the refs let the players play to a certain extent. I hope that the fans realize they are there to watch the game and not try to get on the floor or make comments to individual players. I hope both teams bring their best game on the court and leave all the talking and extra stuff off the court.

I think that this game will be another good one...in all honesty I think the outcome will depend on the FG% from the Valley side. If they come out and shoot like they are capable of then I think they win this game by less than 10, but since it's at Pikeville and the Panthers seem to be playing very well at the moment I'll go with the Pikeville by 5.
01-30-2008, 10:53 PM
I think this will be another close game too. However, IMO I think the wildcats will win this one in a close game.

Pikeville by 7 pullin away in the 2nd half by pure coaching ability. Booher needs to develop some kind of offense or this season will be one of the biggest disappontments in recent 15th region memory (ala 2002 SV who also lacked coaching)

I somewhat agree. Booher is a defensive mastermind, but his weakness is offense. Pikeville's Bart Williams is the best coach in the region (IMO), and he realizes if you force Shelby Valley into an offense and take the lay-ups away then your going to beat the Wildcats.

The Panthers are playing very good ball right now! Valley will have a very hard time staying close in this one. If Pikeville comes to play, which I think they will, it could be another double digit victory for the Panthers. The loss of Taylor Newsome is really being felt by the Wildcats, Hatfield in particular.

SV will rebound and win this one.

If Pikeville can play up to their potential then I can see them winning this game. If they come out and lay an egg, some fans will be heading to the exits early. Good luck to both.
