You have to learn that in life, sometimes you get the *&%^ kicked out of you, but you have to get right back up. Nobody said life was easy. When you play a team like P-ville or JBS you know that might happen.

Vey good point!

Things really didn't get outta hand til the 3rd quarter whan Paintsville scored 36 points. They were just in a groove, on fire, Runyon wasn't payin any attention to the score board, he was in shock watchin his boys play the way they did. Count your blessings, had JBS's coach been coachin Paintsville he woulda left em in the 4th quarter, and they woulda scored 120+.

I agree 100%, could've been alot worse.

Congrats to Paintsville and good luck against Pikeville tonight in the ALL A Final.

I'm sure that you won't catch BMR running up the score too bad on anyone (usually). My gosh, he took out the starters after 3. Anyway, who cares whether other coaches would have left them in. If a team wants to leave their starters in all 4 so what. You play 4 quarters and each team should give it 100%. The final score will just be whatever it is. If a coach wants to be courteous fine, but if not so be it. Paintsville will be down next year. How may coaches will be as considerate to the Tigers next year if they are beating us bad as BMR has been this year. The Tigers could have at least 4-5 more games with 100 points if BMR simply wanted to pad stats.

Paintsville fell back into a 2-3 in the 3rd and didn't extend out. When the starters came out, the reserves still played a 2-3 and out scored SF and still put 19pts on the board in the 4th.

[I]So Coach Runyon pulling all the starters out the 4th quarter shows no respect ? Hmm I don't blame him for letting them play considering they do have another game left to play. No disrespect to SF but had it been Pikeville or SV playing them the outcome would have been the same.[/I[/COLOR]]

That's a great point. Everybody on here knows good and well that the teams that can, WILL run up the score and beat them as bad as they can next year just because it is Paintsville.

Wow...this is unreal!! Congrats Paintsville on the tremedous win!!!

Why run up the score on someone like this?

I'm glad someone pointed that out. Yes, Paintsville wil be down next year, as is any team who loses 6 seniors. But, I saw some promise in that second & third string and PHS may not be as down as some may think.

Paintsville will be down next year mainly due to inexperience. They just don't have a lot of varsity experience and learning to deal with the pressure and pace will be their biggest hurdle. But they have a lot of talent sitting on the bench and should at least be competitive and improve as the season moves along. But losing 6 seniors is a big hit for any school to take in EKY.

When this Jr. class were freshmen, they had 13 kids playing. They should have had at least a 20 game schedule, along with playing 20 JV games a year. But any class after '08 didn't matter a hill of crap. They were kicked to the side then, the next year and this year. Hats off to the 4 that have put up with it this long! But it was a terrible disservice to them and the program will suffer for it.

The Tigers will be lucky to win over 5 games next yr...

Maybe , maybe not. Their JV team has beaten JCHS, played LCHS within 10, they have steadily improved. they have beaten Magoffin also. They have some good size on the floor with three people and at least one guard who seems to be able to shoot and make some really good passes, good floor vision. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I'm not giving up on this bunch. They will have a tough year next year, yes. But, maybe not as bad as some would think.

I remember when this class was as good as any around and better than most. They were just put on the back burner and lost their edge IMO. I remember when Jodt Tackett from Pburg came to Paintsville and couldn't crack the starting line-up with these boys and quickly left.
I know every one of them very well. They are a great bunch of guys. Their 8th grade year they won Georgetown's team camp to become the first team ever from Paintsville to win down there at any level. 22 teams in that tourney.

You are obviously in the know on this program. I am not, I am a bit of an outsider looking in. I just really enjoy the Tiger style program. Why overlook this bunch. Is BMR going out this year and not concerned about what's left? That just doesnt seem his style. He seems like a class act, not one to sacrifice some kids in this way. If he's leaving who will take over the program? I'd hate to see this bunch being gunned for all next year by those they have beaten and also deal with the stuff that sometimes comes with a new coaching staff.

In the summer of 1999 Paintsville's Varisty I team won the Georgetown Team Camp defeating Paducah Tilghman in the championship game.

Yes the class of 2009 had greats teams through 9 years of age to 9th grade. They got shadowed by the class of 08 and quit playing. If all those boys would play ball again they should have an A-OK team next year.

OK, I didn't know, I just went by what BMR said, I figured he would know.

He probably doesn't remember it. He did not coach that game, Bo Belcher did.

Well, that explains the championship right there.

Not really. BMR stayed behind to check players out of their assigned rooms. Several key players were hurt going into that game as well. If my memory serves me correctly it was Dustin Ratliff and Ben Trimble.

Pretty sure I said ok, but would you like to give us the stats for that '99 championship game, while you are at it?

I do know that Runyon didn't coach that game to stay behind with those injured and VanHoose coached our team in the other championship against Scott County. The boys varsity did win the championship against PT however and when the players handed BMR the plaque I know the grin on Coach Runyon's face was priceless....

Smile I know you said ok, I was just pointing out to why his mind may have slipped. If I knew the stats ru' I would gladly tell you. I do remember they barely squeaked one out against PT(the team that beat everyone pretty handidly down there) only to go on and lose in the first round of the districts to a gritty JC team at Magoffin Co led by current HC Tommy McKenzie.

I might and probably am NUTS but wasn't this thread about paintsville and South Floyd at some point.

It was, but the class of 2009 was brought up into the topic based on their performance and that is what was being debated.

Good post. What's better? Having a coach leave his starters in against a younger ballclub or taking his starters out quickly after gaining a large lead just to let the opponent off easy? Will a young team get any better by playing their opponents JV or their best? Give BMR a break. SF wasn't a concern for him and there was nothing really personal going on there. Those schools have seen some great battles that past few seasons and things will be even on the court again soon.
