SOUTH FLOYD 50, PRESTONSBURG 48 SF 58th district champs
#31
If you cant finish a job don't start it.
I wasn't impessed with either team but SF's score is 2 to 1.
#32
Can't argue with you there Von Ryan.
#33
Prestonburgs band was better than South Floyd

Why would anyone play a district championship in that dump.
#34
Has to be one of the worst parking arena's I have ever been to. If you're going to hold a tournament somewhere, at least have it where the parking is good. Also not enough seats. I say Betsy Layne needs to build a new gym if they want to hold a tournament there.
#35
It is every schools right to host the 58th

But the parking is bad
#36
South Floyd is not the better team of the 2.. Prestonsburg gave them the game by not hitting free throws..
#37
The performamce by both teams is this game wasn't impressive at all. In fact if these teams pleay like that in the region both will be going home in the 1st round. SF did survive and played good enough to win and that is the name of the game. Congrats to the Raiders. I thought the fist quarter was pretty good by both teams then the rest of the game was a let down. I hope both teams return to the greatness they have shown in previous games this year and represent the 58th well. Good luck to SF and Pburg, I personally would like to see a Region Final rematch.
#38
South Floyd had alot of turnovers in the first half and missed freethrows their self not to mention Johnson Being sick and Pburg converted on all that and had the lead at half time....Pburg missed alot of FT's in the 4th and SF converted on that to get the win.....IF's are apart of the game and the bottom line is that SF won and alot of you seem to think that Pburg GAVE it to them and its not like that, SF held strong and never gave up...
I think that they deserve a little credit..Everyone has dogged them all year long and they have received no credit..They win the All A and still nothing, Now they win the district and they still get nothing.......Thats Sad..
#39
I'm very proud of SF! P-burg is a good team, but so is SF, like basketballer said the bottom line is that SF won. I also think that it shows alot about a team when they are down that much and still hang in there. They could have lost they're cool, which i thought was going to happen a couple of times, but they stuck it out and pulled through! The Hi-Hat crazies we'll c-ya at Regionals!!

Congrats Raiders! Good luck to p-burg in the regionals also.

I'm not saying SF isn't a good team, they are, but I still say P-burg is the better team. The 2 wins over P-burg combined still don't equal the score difference of the one game P-burg beat em. So I stand by my statement when I say P-burg is better.

I don't understand your reasoning behind this at all. If "if's" and "but's" were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas wouldn't we?

South Floyd has beaten P-Burg 2 out of the 3 games they've played them and you still think P-Burg is the better team? SF won at SF, P-Burg won at P-Burg. They play on a neutral court and SF prevails. South Floyd is the better team. Fact are facts and it seems you are being biased towards your team. The better team gets the job done when it matters and P-Burg didn't get the job done. You can't win shooting FT's the way they did, and they've struggled from the line quite a bit this year. IMO, if they don't knock down their FT's it will plague them next week.

I predict the regional champ will come out of the 58th.

I predict that regional champ wont come out of the 58th. I think South Floyd and Prestonsburg are on about the same level. Both teams are good but not great. I think the regional champ will come out of the 59th.

Congrats to SF!!!!!!!!at one point in the season they were 5-12, but their record didnt show just how good they was. but i seems to me that when tourney time comes they are always ready to play so the 15th region should be fun to watch......GOOD LUCK TO THE RAIDERS OF SOUTH FLOYD!!!!!!!
#44
Who is still in the 59th tournament?
#45
i think that good teams find a way to win, in this case, it was to foul p-burg. yes, they missed alot of freethrows in the 4th most of all, but that was what SF was wanting them to do. the facts are, SF did what they had to do to pull out the win, and that is what good teams find a way to do. give the boys from hi hat some credit, the did what they had to do to pull out the big W congrats to coach hall and the raiders squad.

they were down at least 10 twice tonite and they still put it together and won the game... good teams do that. if Pburg was so much better they wouldnt have blown the game...

GREAT WIN SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The better team did win tonight didn't they.
#47
I believe Prestonsburg is the better team of the 2.

Shelby Valley-winner
East Ridge- runner-up

Congrads to south floyd raiders on their victory.

Way to go RAIDERS!!! The Raiders won the district 4 years ago at BL, and won regionals at SV.. Now the Raiders won district at BL, and SV is holding regionals. WOW!! It might seem like HiHat has gone back in time next week...

I think prestonsburg has missed a total of 40 free throws against SF this year, and SF has still only beat them by a combined 3 points in the 2 games, and they won the first game at the buzzer on a last second 3, and they won the district in the last 9 seconds, if pburg plays SF in the region, they will beat them by 10, mark my words, pburg wont lose to SF again, the biggest thing i saw in this game was the ref's inconsistency, JM Stephens fouled out on an "illegal Screen" but had the refs been calling this same call on SF then stephen stanley would have fouled out in the first half, terrible ref's for a district final, IMO, they should have let the boys play for it, not control the game, too many players fouled out for SF and pburg, i think both teams were in bonus with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd qtr, and with 7 minutes to go in the 4th, that's just picky ref's IMO, congrats to SF in the regional tourney, but u got lucky in the 58th

I agree with you, Prestonsburg will NOT let SF beat them again IF they meet in regionals!!!

I agree with you on the refs should let the kids play a little more in big games. I wasnt at the 58th district game and dont know how the game was called. I heard alot SF players fouled and were in foul trouble. Sounds like Pburg had some foul troubles to. Was the refs calling a lot of touch fouls or what? Maybe both teams were so pumped up about that the game and became overly aggressive. Alot times when two teams come out really aggressive and physical the ref will call alot of fouls to make sure the game doesnt get ugly. I dont agree with you that Pburg would beat SF by 10. SF has two out of three.. Sounds like they are pretty evenly matched teams. Either team could win. But I dont think there will be any lopsided defeats in the 15th region tourney this year. Every team seems to be well balanced. Should make for an exciting regional tourny..

That may be a little easier said than done.

congrat's raiders. does any 1 know when south floyd find's out who the play in the region tourney? let me know.

I don't think so, if the Blackcats reallly want the win, which I know they will, they won't let SF beat them 3 times! But thats a big IF the teams play again!!!

Ya, they seem to match up well balla.. I think it will be a close game. Hopefully I hope they dont draw each other in the first rd..

I know, you should have been to the game the other night. Are you going to come in and go to the regional games?
#59
It would be great if these 2 teams meet up in the finals, I would love to see that game!
#60
The refing in the game friday night was bad both ways none got any advantage from the calls at all. Pburg missed foul shots and SF presuure and d was to much for the cats in the fourth making them shot the Fts or cause turnovers. I agree Pburg will not let the raiders beat them again in the region cuase if they both make the finals the cats will not be in the game cause the raiders will not have another game with 27 turnovers and 35% shooting.
