dfblackcat53 Wrote:Smile haha are you serious? I'll give it to you, south floyd did good this year..you only lost to paintsville by a touchdown..who prestonsburg beat..but thats off the point..you will NEVER be the team out of floyd co..and with the new playoff system now in place, i would expect to see sfhs with a 3-7 record AT BEST..

:moon: sorry bout your luck rob and big!

Boys you all shouldnt be talking about South floyd, this thread is about Prestonsburg.
#33
good luck
#34
i believe the blackcats will be pretty strong, it will be interesting how they will handle all the talent they will be losing on the defensive and offensive, with Owen Right and Tyler Layne. Most sophmores on this team have already made an impact all of them with the exception of #53, he really needs to toughen up... But to the rest of the Blackcats, RESPEK!!!!

Smile

About Hughes and Burchett, Michael is no doubt a great QB, but to say he is better than Hughes is crazy. Bobby is a very good QB, and depending on how the line plays this year he could have a very good season.

Prestonsburg should go 8-2, possibly 9-1.

I don't Kno about that but it might be the same as always DECENT.....but they don't have belfry to contend with anymore haha ther mental BLOCK so yea maybe so!!

Yes we where. And we where saying Hail Blackcats when we beat South Floyd by 45 in District last season.

Theres is no need for this non sense stay on topic.
#47
Back to the topic i think pburg wont be as good next year 4 6.
#48
I think Pburg will have a better record this coming season than last. Sure they lost a few kids on defense and their RB (who could've been better if he would've toughend up and ran hard every play, instead of hard against weaker opponents). One of the best players, WR not sure on the number, wasn't even used but when he was he came through with big play after big play. They have a lot of young talent that will be Juniors next season and I look for them to step up and win atleast 7 or 8 regular season games.

Lets keep this thread on topic.

Maybe they moved on because they couldn't keep up. Prestonsburg has the hardest off season practices. Maybe they just couldn't cut it at P-burg. Did you ever think of that?
#52
I dont see Pburg doing any better than last year.

As a 4 year memeber of a Blackcat squad, I'll admit, some people do transfer, but 50% of them always come back. For example, Blake Meade. Jermy Carr almost transfered out at one time. Everyone hates it, but they know if they stay, its for the best. You don't think about it, you just do it.

Yes there will be some athletes who transfer and have successful careers elsewhere. But as for me, I live in Betsy Layne and so does Darrick Williams, and Brenton Hamilton. We drove 15 minutes one way everyday to play down there when we were in high school. Dave Shaffer drove from Paintsville for his junior and senior year. But it all depends on the work ethic of the individual. Not putting us four on a pedistol or taking anything away from anyone else.

I'll also admit that I don't agree with everything that program does and the coaches know my view points about that. I'm not hiding the fact that some stuff needs to change.

I guess what I am trying to say is, for every person that transfers out, someone transfers in. It all depends on the work ethic of the individual and what your willing to put forth and sacrafice.

Little known fact.

My senior year, 2005, well we graduated in 2006 we had 8 seniors. Out of the eight, five of us were transfers.

Zach Ousley, Cody Crider, and Kyle Boggs, Adams Middle School

David Shaffer Paintsville

Brandon Peters East Ridge

Brenton Hamilton Pikeville

Darrick Williams and Tyler Hamilton (me) Betsy Layne

I hope this proves my point.

What was Pburg's record last year?? I dont ever see anything good come out of all the talent they have....IMO a lot of great athletes go to waste at Pburg bcuz they somehow do not use their talent wisely...idk I just think they could be better than they are.

Prestonsburg has always had the athletes, more than anyone in 2A the past 6 years and they have the athletes this year, but their line is questionable.
#57
Shaffer, T.Hamilton & D. Williams were not transfers, they enrolled at Prestonsburg to start high school.

BC75 is saying that him, Derrick, and a few others didn't attend a Prestonsburg feeder school.

Glad to see you know so much about us.
Blackcat Student was right. I was saying that in gradeschool we went elsewhere. Darrick and I should of went to Betsy Layne and Dave should of went to Paintsville.

I understand your point and I think you misunderstood mine. Hamilton & Williams did attend BL grade school but chose to go to Prestonsburg, which is a good thing but it's not considered a "transfer". With the so called "open enrollment" of schools, 8th graders can choose whatever school they want as long as they want to make the drive or move.
Just for the record,Shaffer lived in Prestonsburg and went to AMS his 8th gr.yr. and would not be considered a "transfer".

Again my point is that I'm glad they attended PHS but they were not considered transfers.
