The sad part is, almost every school holds back kids for sports. They wont admit it was for sports, but it is all the same. I am just alittle surprised over JBS doing it like the other schools. I thought they was supposed to be a college prep high school. How do they figure in the GPA's and stuff in a school like JBS is supposed to be when they are holding back kids for sports?

Well this is all new to me. I have never in my life heard of anything like this. I graduated last year, and never in my 13 years of going to school, W/ perfect attendance i might add did my school ever hold anyone back, that was able to play sports. If your grades were low enough to get held back, they were too low for you to play sports. I watch around the surrounding counties too and never have I seen this happen. So I dont think whoever said every school does that is right. You guys have opened a whole new door for me. Wow!!!! So that is how JBS gets to look so good, hhhmmmm.......

Haha, the school doesn't hold them back genuis, the parents do. It's not breaking the rules, so what's the big deal? Yes, I guarantee that every school has numerous athletes like this. Maybe they weren't "held back", they may have just been started late by their parents. I was held back in 7th grade, does that make me a cheater? I don't think so, my parents did not do it because of sports, but for the reason that I was very immature for my grade. Being held back was the best thing for me...in both a social and athletic sense. Being held back helped me a lot and is probably the reason I have a college scholarship to play basketball. The extra year gave me time to mature mentally and physically. I had extra confidence and everything seemed to fall into place. Thanks for calling me a cheater when you admitt you've heard nothing about this practice, so therefore you are very ignorant in the matter.

One question, when did you get your drivers permit and license? At 17 because you was a year behind in maturity or at 16 like everyone else?

You are the most immature man I have ever read after. If a parent doesn't want his kid to graduate at 17, which is too young to leave home IMO then it is none of YOUR business. Do what you want with your kid and let everybody else do the same. You hate SV and that is very immature. Just go back and count the post you have made on this topic. That should keep you busy.

Sorry to tell you this, but this thread has nothing to do with Shelby Valley. Why dont you quit trying to bring Shelby Valley into every thread. There was maybe 10 posts on hold backs at JBS not SV in this thread. But you choose mine to make the remark about?

I
I took your advice, 20 posts before mine was concerning holdbacks. 7 of them from you. How can you say that I see to it that it is about holdbacks? But back on topic, I can see JBS winning the 14th. Tate Cox is a very good and impressive player. Stepp can play pretty darn good himself. What grade is Clint in? Will he be playing varsity this year?

jbs will probably the 14th and just to answer every ones questions and the only reason im answering this is cause its getting down right stupid some kids at jbs one or two years probably for sports maybe not though but one thing WHO CARES look they did it and so have millions of other schools across the country and don't tell me that some state someone made a ban for kids to stay back unless its for grades cause there is some other state making up for them and there will always be hold backs but you only hear about if the team is any good look people they would still be good even if they hadn't of stayed back now they will just for a little while longer and then look at what they got not much so it will be ok i promise

I thought JBS was founded on academics? Boy I was wrong, it's all about B_Ball. Some of their kids will be twenty year old fr. in college.

I thought you wanted to get something straight, but here you are again. you don't want anything said about your team, but you want to make fun of somebody else. If I were you I would wait awhile.

Not any team in the 14th proved they are going to win it yet. Not always the best team in the region wins either. The team that usually wins regions is the team that can put 3 or 4 good games together in a row. That doesnt mean the team with the most talent. Prove who is the best on the court during the regular season, then see if it can carry over to the district and regions.

No body has proved anything this year. There have been no games played. I am sure no one knows who is going to win. I hope everyone plans on playing one game at the time.

I would like for you to highlight where in the H*ll I called you a cheater!!!! Are you sure they shouldnt have held you back ANOTHER year? Because I dont think one is doing you much good. Yea I guess I am a genius, because I was able to understand what I was writing enough to know that I meant no one at my school ever did that, I didnt mean the school held them back. And at my school after elementary school the parents aren't able to make that choice anymore. How old are you anyway? Until I read where you said you had a COLLEGE scholarship, I could have sworn that you were about a sophomore in high school. I was not saying anything to be mean, I was just saying I learned something new. But since you want to go and be an A#*hole, I can be one too. I agree with that other guy, you need to find a thread about your own school and stop posting stuff about it on everybody else's threads. We know you want attention, but we are tired of hearing your mouth. Adios buddy!!!

After elementary school, nobody can be held back. Once you get in high school KHSAA kicks in. They make the rules after that.

Try to be more clearer in what you say so people can understand it. I was being serious about Clint. No need to show people your true colors when a serious question was asked. But I guess some people cant help it. I was thinking that Clint should be in the 8th grade at least, maybe a freshman. Anyone besides 3 points know what grade he is in?

I know, but why tell you. You would just have something smart to say. Like HOLDBACK.
11-10-2006, 12:18 AM
Actually, no I wouldnt. My son played AAU ball with them in Lexington 2 or 3 years ago. I was just wondering what grade he is in, but nevermind, I guess it is a matter of national security or something. Glad to see that the players at JBS are taking classes such as "Mind Reading 101". Is Mrs. Cleo a tutor or the instructor in it?

Nobody has talked about your players, we don't say things about their classes or how old they are . We don't make fun of their school. Clinton is a freshman, and your boy is probably a sophmore. Now you can say hold back. Can't say as I know Miss Cleo. Ms, June maybe

No, I was going to ask if he was going to play varsity this year. How did he do over the summer in the summer leagues?

Sorry about that. I guess I was just upset about people (not necessarily you) bashing the practice of holding people back, considering I was one myself and was held back for the right reasons....perhaps it was just a touchy issue for me and sorry for venting on you. But if you read a lot of the post in this thread you see that people have said (or implied strongly) that it was cheating. I just didn't understand how it was cheating if there were no rules broken. Again, sorry for taking this out on you.
11-10-2006, 03:34 PM
I accept the apology and I too will apologize for lashing back at you. I seriously had never heard of ppl doing that. And I wasn't putting it down by any means, I mean if ppl want there kids to spend half their life in school for whatever reason, by all means. whatever toots your horn (haha). But in my case, I strived to get the heck out of school and after 13 years of never missing a day of school, I was ready to go when the time came, and now I am met with another challenge called college!! But anyway, I am way off topic, I just wanted to take the time to say that...I will head out of here for now....
