I don't think that's confusing at all...
The confusing part is that Pikeville had to put together a grinding and long 13 yard TD drive after a Belfry fumble. How in the hell is that TD held against the defense? The bottom line is Belfry's TEAM gave up 20 points and Pikeville's TEAM gave up 24 points. The main word being TEAM. The correct analysis in this game would be that both teams made mistakes that seriously hurt their chances. Pikeville's penalties were killers as well as Belfry's fumbles. Take away them both and I believe Pikeville still comes up a little short.

Thats true, but jet was stating that PIKEVILLES DEFENSE stopped Belfry better than BELFRYS DEFENSE stopped Pikeville... he never said 'the team stopped belfry better'....also, I believe the majority of the fumbles were caused by the physical pikeville d...i could be wrong, just from what i saw thats what it seemed...

It doesnt matter, if he is running out a fake he is fair game...tell him not to run fakes out after the ball is gone...cuz the one time u dont hit the QB (and you think the ball is gone) he will actually have it..

And your saying that you saw only one or two late hits?

Rocky Wrote:And your saying that you saw only one or two late hits?
I dont think I saw one...because of the fact that regardless, if the QB hands the ball off and runs a fake, he is still fair game. Thats like saying you cant hit the option back if a QB still has the ball..the only one i saw that COULD HAVE been a late hit was the one they called on #2 (but i still dont feel this was necessarily late, as the whistle hadnt blown, or if it had, i didnt hear it).
09-23-2006, 01:27 AM
Because it happened on pass plays (without any fakes) as well.

How many times did Belfry pass? Twice? Three times?...I remember ONE that the QB went down after the ball was thrown and that was because a D-Lineman ran into a blocker and when he went down hit him, but you cant really call that penalty...

I was at the game and I did see Very unsportsmanlike conduct by Apikeville player.#2 walked to the sidelines after the game and did not go out and shake hands like everyone else did. Is that not unsportsmanlike?

I think he got into it with one of Belfry's players and the coach sent him to the side lines...at least thats what APPEARED to happen

Anyway it was an exciting game,,We all have different views lol. I understand exactley what your talking about but we all have differing points of view.

I have said it already, I think all Belfry fans know what Pikeviles demise was tonight... and it was #2, he really hurt his own team in MANY ways!!

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who saw that little display

Um, Pikeville's offense had just driven to the Belfry 5 on Belfry's D before Belfry fumbled, not the same as a 13-yard drive. Pikeville's O put the ball down there on Belfry's D. Pikeville aslo fumbled it away inside Belfry's 10 on another long drive. Also, Belfry scored after a 5 yard punt gave them the ball on the Pikeville 35, and about 30 of those 35 yards were penalties (one a phantom late hit). So using your logic don't count a short field, penalty aided drive against Pikeville's D either.
And if you are going to take away Belfry's fumbles and Pikeville's penalties, take away that Pikeville fumble inside Belfry's 10...
Take away all of both teams' mistakes and Pikeville wins this game for sure.
But mistakes count and both teams will get better...

Yeah I can understand how fans would be angry about that, but that was just the style of defense Pikeville was running and they didnt want to take any chances.

Pikeville's attitude towards the game reflects their coaches attitude.
And lets just say I DO NOT like the attitude of their coach.
Congrats Belfry on winning 6 in a row, and for playing tough when it mattered most.

And thats the key, regardless Belfry won and making or not making mistakes is part of why a team is good or bad. I really dont think you can blame the game on the way #2 acted...I think Pikeville as a TEAM had several unforced errors and mistakes that need to be corrected in order for them to have a shot at a state title.

Good point. Im going to be greedy though and keep both teams mistakes just the way they are and walk away with a win. No disrespect meant. Good luck to Pikeville the rest of the way. I promise you if they go on to greater things the rest of the year that they will look back on this game as a turning point in the season. I believe a bunch of Pikeville's kids grew into young men on that field tonight. It will only help them in the long run.

I disagree. Just curious, what aspect of his coaching tonight led you to thinking this?

Really digging for a way to say Pikeville should have won, huh???
With or without Pikeville's unsportsmanlike penalties, whose to say Belfry stilll wouldn't have driven the ball down their throats? Most of the game Belfry drives were stopped by turnovers, so in essence they stopped themselves.
Final Score.......Belfry 24- Pikeville 20
CROW is now serving.

I dont suppose you credit any of those turnovers to the defense do you?
As im sure the Pikeville fumble on the 10 should be credited to the Belfry D...
He wasnt looking for a way to say Pikeville should have won, mainly describing as to how Pikevilles D stopped Belfry better than Belfrys D stopped pikeville

The attitude of the Head Coach, most of the assistant coaches, and practically all of the team.
Kids are kids, and they'll behave in what ever way you allow. But Coach Jackson has allowed and displayed unclassy behavior the only two times I have seen Pikeville play in the last 2 years and thats enough for me to say that I don't like how he does things.
I don't expect anyone to agree or disagree, but this is not the same type of kids behavior wise that I am accustomed to in Pikeville uniforms.

In my opinion thier coach lost his cool numerous times, at points in the second half, it was actually very humorous to watch his antics on the sideline..

All the other stuff aside,,,I sure thought there was gonna be a throw down at the end of the game lol.

No I mean are there any examples of what the COACHES did to show they had bad attitudes? I thought taking #2 out of the game for unclassy behavior would show how he wouldn't tolerate it...
