Watched that game on D&D. Great game to watch being played by two good teams. Cole Pinson is a stud for sure, and fun watching him run the ball. Kind of reminds me of a young Brenden Anthony.

I'll take either one lol. What number is he? It's early but hard to tell if Pikeville will be good enough to make another deep run...

#15 Jet and I think the other one is #12 both are good backs and once this young line comes together they could be good, #35 on defense was all over the field and packs a punch when he hits you.

#52 (cant remember his name) but he's a big mobile kid that made an impact in the game. Could be a fine weapon for the Panthers when he gets to varsity.

So is Belfry improved or is Pikeville down?

No

Hard to say Pikeville is “down”. Are they as good as last years group in 8th grade? No. But that’s not a fair assessment seeing as 2024 8th grade bunch literally looked like a JV squad against most teams. They could have probably played for an at large championship.

I do go to the middle school games and being honest they are down definitely from last year. Like armchair said they were really good last year. This team plays some 7th graders and as of right now they don’t throw the football like last year. I think by the end of the year they will have a good passing game and right now they have 2 good backs. They have potential but the also have work to do.
#18
They are on a 20 game winning streak and getting better every week. Can't ask for more than that.
#19
^^^sure can’t. The loss of Stanley on the staff was a bit of a hit, but Branham and the rest of the guys do a phenomenal job. They also have a very good QB in the 7th grade in the Johnson kid.

The biggest difference in Pikeville and Raceland and the rest of 1A at the HS level, imo, is how their MS programs have been developing kids in the offseason. Idk about the Panthers YFL schedule, but there are teams that beat Raceland or are in close games with Raceland in YFL and then you turn around to 7th grade and Raceland blasts the same schools they struggled with a year prior.
