If they compete beyond the regional championship and for the East then it’s a failure in many opinions, including mine. The coaches know what they have and where they needed to improve. I think coach Short and his staff and the Bulldogs have a big year ahead of them. The key will be staying healthy and building on success they had and improving to win the games they lost last year.

who are some key players both skill and up front

Skill players, they have many! The guys up front on both sides will be better. One issue they had last season was depth, add that with the injuries and it could have made for a disastrous season but the Bulldogs fought hard and young guys had to step up. Their quarterback will be very good, and he has a lot of weapons to go to. Williams back at running back will be huge for LC.
Defensively, they should be better with another year of experience and growth. Adding depth to the line and back end will be key.

All of those kids are stars in the making/difference makers. I wouldn't trade that group of kids for anyone and I know there's a ton of talent in the area.
Two biggest keys for them are getting their guys back to 100% healthy and improve their physicality.

Estill county Is one I've seen. I'm thinking we will have Powell County back..
I'm seeing ashland. Letcher central, pburg is gonna be a scrimmage. Martin County is gonna be an opener!! Ashland will be a game
So that's 6 regular season games that's almost for certain.

lawrence is my school to watch this year......... think they should be a favorite to make a run...........

They should be able to compete for the regional title in the East returning a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Several players I expect to have a big year.

I think everyone would agree with that statement, for sure this year and next year.

I feel like coaching, play calling, and field discipline has improved. I think the area that they needed to grow was grit, just being tough. Play calling isn’t like an average fan would think, it’s not just call a play and they go run it, there’s a lot to it. The quarterback being back with a full year of experience is going to show itself. Williams being back is huge! If he stays healthy, he will battle for player of the year, he’s a difference maker on both sides of the ball.

Going into last season, before he got hurt, Prep Redzone had him ranked as the no. 4 RB prospect in the state in '27 class. Just as good in the secondary. I'd be weary of playing on D, though. They have plenty of guys back there. I'd save him for O.

I think that’s the plan, we will see starting tomorrow.
Williams is a homerun hitter anytime he touches the ball.

Good luck to the bulldogs seems like they have a lot in the pipe and big aspirations. They have always been a tough team especially when you have to play them at the dog pound. Coach Tony Burchett always bragged how LC loved football and had one of the best atmospheres for the game he had seen. After playing there it is hard to disagree with that! Good luck!

Coach Burchett is a legend here in LC.

Louisa is always a fun place to watch a football game. Would love to see Pburg and LC come up with a way to schedule each other every year the way that we used to. I feel like that semi-rivalry game every year was very beneficial for both programs.

Coach Burchett is a great one without a doubt. Many young men were made better by his tutelage no doubt about it. He was very fond of Lawerence I know that. We played up there a year after he retired and it was an awesome experience.

Who did you play for?
07-14-2025, 05:35 PM
I agree, we shall see what this year brings. With everyone staying healthy i believe changes alot. With a few key players being juniors and a whole year older... the line of scrimmage will be the tale of the take early on. With multiple players that could break out at anytime!!
And Prestonsburg is who Lawrence is expected to scrimmage this year!! For whoever asked that one

I played for Powell County, Burchett's last stop as a head coach. I was very fortunate to play under him for his last few years as a head coach.
