13th Region summer basketball
#1
any updates or any scores from summer games in 13th region
#2
Think they start first week of June.
#3
today
#4
Watched clay play mad cent. Clay lost by 10-15 points.
#5
Besides North Laurel who are the top teams in the 13th region for the ‘25-‘26 season?
I was told that Corbin has looked strong in their early summer games. I imagine South Laurel will be good too.
#6
I heard Clay killed Knox not sure if that’s true but just what I heard and yes Burton was there.

My opinion only. North, Corbin, bell, clay in that order. No one else has a chance.

Corbin lost to North without Reece by 14. North then loss to bell by 14. Corbin turned around later and beat bell by 12 in typical summer ball fashion. I was told akins had 30 against bell. North has a kid who will be a soph who looked really strong for them.

If Clay has.a chance, I would think Whitley, Knox, South and HC would also, unless something changes with their rosters since last season.

Probably should have said it better. Those are my picks as the top 4 teams in the region. I include clay because they have their top 2 players back and the big boy as long as he stays out of foul trouble is the 2nd best big in the region. Clay unfortunately can’t hit free throws when it matters and they therefore don’t have a chance to win region. Those top 3 picks will only lose region games to each other in my opinion. But Clay is the 4th best team and realistically I know you can’t truly think any of those teams you mentioned can win 3 on the hill. Again just my opinion

I could see Clay fourth, but I could see any of those other teams also. I haven't seen most of them yet. I heard South beat Bell, which surprised me, but I would never count South out from making a run and being competitive.
#12
I've heard Bell's only loss was to Corbin in a close game. I do think they have played many games yet. I seen where Pineville has gotten blown out a bunch in almost every game. Middlesboro doesn't have a coach and haven't done anything. And it sounds like Harlan County is playing really well.

Beat Clay and lost to South at South and beat Whitley at Whitley in May.

Summer ball and a quarter will buy you a full shitter and a squirt of that cologne at the Love's Travel Stop bathroom vending machine.

Wrong on that keystone Corbin lost to north by about 18 with Davidson and Rawlings and North lost to Bell by 7 without those 2 and Noble didnt play in the second half but a few minutes before he went out

I got second hand info on that north/bell game. I thought the corbin/bell game was more. Still summer ball is very unpredictable. #10 kid for north. Black kid soph i think is gonna be really good for north this year.

That's what all the cool kids say about summer basketball EVERY summer.
I like it though. Teams are missing players at times, of course, but you get a pretty good idea of the best teams.

Yep, a waste of time, energy, and money.

Okay, what's your pretty good dea of who the best three teams are. I think you are are a pretty good evaluator of talent in thios region.

Well, I don't think that's changed from March - North, Corbin and Bell. Curious to see who else may emerge as a potential contender.

I'd be curious to see what happens to teams/coaches who don't put any time, energy or money into summer basketball.

Summer ball is important, but there is no summer championship. Some coaches will show everything they have to win a game in June. To me it’s about evaluating what you have (who can play, who can help, who has improved, what the team is good at and what they are not, etc). Doesn’t matter what anyone ranks you until the nets are cut down.

I think it’s that group of North, Bell, and Corbin like several people have said. I do think by the end of the season Clay COULD be 4th. So far the pieces seem to be fitting a lot better and everyone has a role if that makes sense. Grubb has went to another level as I’ve said. Wagers is tough (doesn’t play every summer game). Rogers (OBI) can play.

There are supposed to be some games at South Laurel today (Tuesday, June 17). Does anyone have the full schedule?
#24
Danville Christian over Clay County and South Laurel on Tuesday.
#25
I seen Knox got beat 75-38 by Warren Central today… OUCH!
#26
Bell County and Harlan County each went 4-0 in the KABC Summer Shootout in Lexington over the weekend. Both had wins over South Oldham - a state semifinalist last year.

Yes, but South lost all five starters.

I'm going to post my tiers again
Teir 1:
North Laurel
Corbin
Bell County
Harlan County
Tier 2:
Clay County
Knox
South Laurel
Whitley
Tier 3:
Harlan City
Tier 4:
Everyone else.
#29
I like that one better
I'd put HC in Tier 2.
I'd include Barbourville with Harlan in Tier 3 as the All A favorites.
