Lot of kids go to Jackson City in early grades then transfer to Breathitt, not just for sports. Right or wrong a lot of parents feel that kids get a really good foundation in the lower grades, maybe because of smaller classes. JC is strong in soccer, academic club and at times baseball.
They have some good basketball players each year usually but not enough to be super competitive.

Probably too soon to say at this point but we can probably speculate on who’s not.
Corey Hoskins? probably a thumbs down for sure.
Abner? probably isn’t interested. He seems content to move up the administration chain. He’s assistant principal at Breathitt.
Wes Noble? Good young guy but probably not viewed as head coach ready.
Mathew Perry? Doubtful he’d get the job even if he applied

Agree. I’ve heard Mathew Perry’s name on several jobs but honestly what has he done at the high school level?

they aren’t fans of Perry at bath so he may be looking even if they don’t let him go. Didn’t he get the Powell job and they protested? Shows he was looking to leave.
I’ve heard Tyson gross name but also heard breathitt won’t want him. He’s from Owsley but breathitt is the better job.

Winston Lee?

Matt Taylor, calling it now. Almost took it few years back. The young ones we have will win it in couple years down the road under him with way he works.
#34
Will Breathitt football put up with Perry having year round mandatory basketball practices; bullying guys not to play other sports; and saying things to them like: “you suck you couldn’t guard my limp d*>#???”

Ahhh, probably not.

Matthew Perry applies for every open job in the 14th but no one seems to want to hire him.
#37
They are wise.
#38
What about assistant coach Turner from Breathitt? Hearing a lot of people throwing his name around. Also hearing Matt Taylor, Matt Perry.
#39
Can’t see Taylor leaving SV for Breathitt. Perry has wanted out of Bath since he got there and was a finalist a couple years ago. He is well connected. I could see it working.

Pretty sure that won’t happen and Breathitt connections? Honeycutt and another 14th region coach were the two finalist a couple years ago. And I can see Taylor wanting to return to the 14th. Guess we’ll just have to guess for now.

Matt Perry applies for every job in the 14th, 15th, and 16th. Breathitt should consider Matt Taylor.
#42
Breathitt parents won’t be intimidated and bullied. Nor will they accept the cruel treatment of their kids and downright mean spirited nature that got Perry ran off finally from Morgan. If they hire him, both parties will end up regretting it. Because unless he has had a religious experience and been redeemed; this man may end up getting hurt in Breathitt Co. for saying and doing his typical antics at Morgan. He thought he was untouchable over there with his connections to a couple bought-and-paid-for board members, and his underground payment method for the foreign exchange pipeline. Ultimately, with his nephew serving as Superintendent- two of his former assistants filmed his antics at practice and finally had him fired. Imagine being so intolerable that your nephew (who also played ball for him) has to fire you!!!!

Also, will Breathitt allow him to use school gymnasiums to conduct his summer camps where he pockets all the money? Will Breathitt Co. allow him to run its youth leagues and have no financial accounting for any of the money coming in or going out?

Look elsewhere for a leader in Fairce Woods Coliseum Breathitt County.

If I’m the Breathitt High School administration. Im looking at Shannon Hoskins or Casey Huff

I never said Shannon would leave Perry , but if I’m in the process of hiring , what’s the harm in reaching out to him ? If you really think there’s going to be a flood of applicants for the Breathitt job , then you’re kidding yourself. I always thought Huff’s teams were competitive. In my opinion , he’s a better Xs & Os coach than the one Knott replaced him with.
#46
Honeycutt was a tough loss. I don’t think Matt Taylor leaves Valley. He has turned that program around and returns his whole team. 14th region is an easier road to Rupp though.

Then maybe watch the end of the District Championship game with Jenkins. Over 6 seconds left down 2 and couldn’t get up a shot and had to launch a prayer. No sense in bothering Shannon, he’s going nowhere. May not be a flood of applications but there will be some quality people interested. Breathitt will face a tough decision.

Oh , I’m sure it’ll be an in-house hire just like the rest of their coaches , lol.

Last two coaches were from Knott County? In house?

Breathitt has been coached by:

Fairce Woods
James Turner
Glenn Napier
Doug Noble
John Noble
BB King
Jeff Honeycutt
Roscoe Denney
Jon Collins
The guy that was at Napier… Denny ????

I know there have been a few others that I didn’t name, but the only one of those that attended Breathitt High was James Turner.

If you’re wanting to examine choke jobs then watch Breathitt’s regional championship in 2024

If Bobcat Nation can’t handle Matthew Perry’s language , they definitely won’t be ready for Matt Taylor.

Banks yes!  Played on a huge frontline with the 6’8” Fletcher twins!!

But Doug Noble…. did he graduate from Breathitt or Riverside?

Either way…. My point was; Breathitt RARELY hires in- house. It’s the exception not the rule.

James E. Turner should be asked to help with this search. He is a great young man and has tons of connections in the world of sports.

Hayes will be the next boys coach. He’s the girls coach now. After that happens they bring the macalarnis woman back to coach the girls. This will happen

I don’t see this happening. I been wrong before !!!! If it was me I would hire Cam Turner. He going to be  really good coach. Kids seem to respond to him. But hopefully we can hire a coach that going bring few kids with them.

I wasn’t being literal. Just saying that’s how much they love him at SV. He has them completely bought in to what he’s about.

Does breathitt usually hire assistants? I think he needs a few more years. Two years as an assistant and not even like a main assistant isn’t much on a resume for a job this big. Wes noble was their jv coach. I think he has a better chance than the other guy.

Time is slipping by and it seems real quiet. Hope someone is doing something.
