This site has so many amazing insiders. Already hiring for jobs that aren’t yet vacated by coaches that’s accepted positions elsewhere that hasn’t been announced. Solid stuff.

Afraid this one is legit but I sincerely doubt Cory Hoskins is a front runner.

It’s official. Honeycutt just informed the team he going to Knott

I hope he hangs around longer than he did when he accepted the Owsley job a few years ago. The school had a big acceptance and welcoming event in their library with refreshments. The WYMT news and BSN were there. He met the team, parents, staff, etc and made a speech. And 3 days later informed the AD that he had decided to not take the job and was going to be an assistant coach at PCC.

Matthew Perry is a candidate I was told.
#11
I’ve heard DK Abner has been jockeying for the position. He must be itching to get back on the sidelines at Breathitt
#12
I seen one of the Dads put a post on Facebook so it must be happening

yeah this one is true he met with the team today.  Glad he didn’t wait until softball was over. I think it’s too early to tell who will apply. Think a few of the assistants may apply. This decision could affect a few of their players for next year staying or going. At least I heard that from some dads. Not sure how true things are this time of year. So many rumors

I think only 1 of the assistants need to put in for it. Noble is the only one I can imagine. Sewell will prolly leave now Sperry is gone since that was his nephew. Turner is too young to apply for a job like Breathitt. And then the other coach, I’ve never seen him say a word. It’ll be an interesting few weeks over there.

Official per Bluegrass Sports Nation.

Thinking back it’s hard to remember 3 of what many consider the top 4 programs historically in the 14th looking to hire a new head coach.
#18
And those 3 are all in the WYMT Classic this year

Thought about that and….Al Holland with Pike Central!

Saw where Knott named Honeycutt officially.

You can't blame Honeycutt for going back home to coach. Especially, with Breathitt losing the majority of their team this year to graduation. Also, there isn't a overwhelming amount of talent in the lower grades. They do have a strong eighth grade group who will be freshman next year, which will put Breathitt in the mix in a couple of years, but Honeycutt will have a tremendous amount of talent at Knott coming up as well. If Honeycutt can keep the talent in Hindman, Knott County could be the favorite to win the region for the foreseeable future. Who on the current coaching staff is interested in the job?
#21
So who are the serious candidates?
#22
It's Breathitt they will have some move-ins. 9 out of 10 times if a kid can walk and chew gum at Jackson City he will end up down the hill at Breathitt.

Wes noble coaches the jv. I’ve heard he was one Honeycutt would ask to draw plays up during games. He’s quiet but likeable. I’m sure they are wanting someone who will stick around awhile. He’d be it

Hopefully Breathitt can hire a coach that can bring few kids with him. If Bobcats can get some kids back they lost ,will be pretty competitive in the 14 region. They have bright future with freshman and 8 th grade class.

Lot of kids go to Jackson City in early grades then transfer to Breathitt, not just for sports. Right or wrong a lot of parents feel that kids get a really good foundation in the lower grades, maybe because of smaller classes. JC is strong in soccer, academic club and at times baseball.
They have some good basketball players each year usually but not enough to be super competitive.

Probably too soon to say at this point but we can probably speculate on who’s not.
Corey Hoskins? probably a thumbs down for sure.
Abner? probably isn’t interested. He seems content to move up the administration chain. He’s assistant principal at Breathitt.
Wes Noble? Good young guy but probably not viewed as head coach ready.
Mathew Perry? Doubtful he’d get the job even if he applied
#28
I’m going to say that breathitt hires the girls coach to be the boys coach and maybe Misty macalarnis goes back to breathitt as girls coach
#29
When BB was hired, it came down to him and Matthew Perry. Honeycutt was the choice from the start when it was open the last time.

Agree. I’ve heard Mathew Perry’s name on several jobs but honestly what has he done at the high school level?
