Floyd Central Changes???
#1
With the announcement of new administration today, do we see a change for the boys' basketball team?
#2
Honestly, no I think he probably a great guy but I don’t see him changing nothing. He from that area and unless Alan Joe resigns same things will continue.

Rady Martin will be new coach
#4
Casey huff will be the next Floyd central coach.
#5
This is off the subject but since the discussion is about Floyd Central, why was the new school site located in the southern part of the county near the Knott County line? It’s more Floyd Southern than Floyd Central, lol. Some sections of the county have to be a long bus ride for the students.
#6
Heard differently last night. The job is John Nobles if he wants it.
#7
The job first has to become open before it can be anyone else's job LOL

I like rady Martin he is a great guy but not sure if he would want to coach.

The job does have to be opened first. Was simply asking opinions on if the new administration will make Moore step down.
Rady has pursued all open jobs in the 58th. I have heard Huff's name mentioned, not sure it's coming from his corner or not. Not heard Nobles name mentioned with any job, but would be a great hire, if the job opens.

I’ve been following all the threads and comments for some time now and only created a profile in the event of ever needing to defend. Thankfully, I’ve not had to do that yet. However, I would like to say, that there isn’t a single person that knows what’s going to happen or if anything will happen until it actually does! There is so many rumors running through mill! Personally, if there are to be any changes made, those NEED to happen asap! Many programs have already started off season work. That’s when you get better, that’s when you build your program and team. Can’t wait a month before season starts and expect a well put together playing floor. FCHS program is way too talented to be sitting on their hands for months.

The biggest concern I have is having all this talent past and future who has and who will come through this program and not get a chance to play at the next level . This program needs a change and not someone already on the bench. They need someone who knows what it takes to win and get to a D1 college Scholarship  and be able to compete with some of the best players in the state.

Floyd has been on a run with talent for years. They always have athletes and skilled kids. The Buck kid is multi sport talented and great at both, unsure on the dynamic over there but hopefully “if” they have a new coach. The search will be opened to everyone. The team returns everyone and has young players. As far as coaches for D1 etc only one coach been there done that as a coach is in region but he isn’t leaving in Taylor at SV. The only other is Justice who played D1 and he isn’t leaving Pikeville.
Buck Spriggs Boyd and the Howard kid all have talent but it takes alot to get to the next level. I think the football hire was a home run at FC former college guy who knows the game. Hopefully the open it up do some research and land a good hire.
Young and talented is dangerous with the right person.

First of all, a kid has to have D1 talent before he will get a D1 scholarship.

I think he just meant scholarship in general. But, knowing how to push players towards that goal.

Best decision Fc ever made was hiring Trevor Hoskins. Got to agree with a post I seen above about your team is built in the offseason which is 100% true. I don’t see a coaching change at Fc even though they are clearing house up there it seems who knows though.

Seems like changes would happen soon if they were going to—-in time for Summer Ball but who knows

I’m still hearing John Nobles name by some of my Martin sources. Would FC be better than Leslie County in terms of coaching?

I think it would. No having to compete with Hazard/Perry Central just to make a region tournament.

I think fc would be personally better with  mason hall, larry mullins or Nobel. Someone that can come in and utilize the large amount of talent this school has. Because currently they don’t seem to want to make use of it and if they do they understanding how to make use of it.

Floyd County Schools as a whole have made a mistake bypassing Mason Hall for high school head jobs. I also think Larry Mullins would be a great one too. I think John Noble did great at Buckhorn but since he left, he's not done much elsewhere. I thought he would have won another region or two at Breathitt County.

All A Classic Runner-up while John was at Breathitt. No big deal I guess.

Couple names that I've consistently heard, is John Noble & Eric Ratliff.

But like it's already been said on here, the job hasn't officially come open yet so just have to wait and see.

Floyd central is coming off a district championship last season and a region semi final appearance this season during a rebuilding year with a lot of young kids.

What other school in Floyd county can say that and did they move on from their current coaching staff?

Floyd Central has won 1 district tournament 1st round game in past 6 years. Which means 1 district championship appearance.

Last year they had a team full of Covid holdbacks, Covid doesn’t happen? District title doesn’t happen.

They beat a Belfry squad in play in game and a BL squad who had beat them 3 straight prior.

This same fc coach and his staff have been at the helm since 2019. Second nothing wrong with holdbacks but every player he has on his current team and that  district squad are holdbacks so  no excuses about being young. Most of them would had been seniors or juniors this year.  Before this they coached girls ball together so they should be some knowledge of basketball the next thing is they aren’t the best coaches and that ok. They gave it a shoot won a covid bubble district title with 5th year seniors playing maybe 6 players or 7 most. It time for change because out of the time they been there I’ve not seen any player make it to a d2 or junco college for ball and that is a shame with all the talent that this school has.

Not aiming this just towards Floyd Central or any group of kids. But some huge factors we are forgetting in kids not getting offers are,
1. Strength of Schedule
2. Is the Kid doing more than a 2-hour practice per day?
3. What other programs are sending kids to D1, D2, D3, JUCO, NAIA, etc. every year
4. What's their weekly schedule look like besides a mandatory team practice

Alot of parents and kids have aspirations to play at the next level, but don't realize what it takes to actually make it.

I say that to say this, it's hard to make it to the next level as an athlete and actually play. Even though I do think a coaching change is needed, I do not think it's because they aren't getting kids to college. I think it's because they have been there too long, with too much talent and accomplished very little. Them bringing in a great hire for their football program can only help your basketball program, if the right people are in place. I agree with the above post though, if the current coaching staff hasn't stepped down, been fired or resigned by the end of next week, I don't see any changes happening. Besides kids leaving the school.

Floyd Central had a coach who actually won the All A Classic in Kevin Spurlock but they ran him off.
