Boyd County 86 Fleming County 56 (16th Region Quarterfinal)
#1
Final a beat down by the Lions.

Jacob Spurlock sets a 16th region record tonight by hitting 9 three pointers he broke the record set by Ethan Sellers in 2022 when he had 8.

Dominating win. Boyd looked like they mean business in this tourney

Boyd deserved this win.
One has to question why a coach is so set on playing zone. Boyd is the team you absolutely can’t play zone. Boyd let it fly and made Fleming pay.

Boyd should walk into the championship from here.

Wow, beatdown city.

Wasn't close from the start. Proves the 16th has been a 2 horse race from the start.

Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome, but I feel like Coach Biggs had legitimate arguments in the first when he players were getting fouled and they weren't called.

Jacob Spurlock lit it up from 3

I don't disagree, the officiating wasn't good. BUT it did not decide the game at all. I feel like Boyd exposed them in transition, with Spurlock just getting to the corner spot for wide open shots. The big court def played in Boyd's favor for that.

Yeah, hard to blame the stripes when you get beat by 30.

I don't see what he would have complained about. He got Boyd into foul trouble with two starters having to sit early in the second quarter. Jolly and Hickerson would just run straight into BC players and BC players were straight up and Fleming would get the call and go to the line. The only foul that maybe should have been called was Hickerson did get hit on the hand on a follow through at the top of the key. I felt Fleming got more calls than BC.

I think it is how you look at it as a fan or ref. If the offensive player is running at the defense and offensive players creates the contact and the defensive player is straight up in his allowed position. How is a defensive foul?

That is a good question, but that's the way it's about 99.9% of the time.  I agree with you.
