What was their record in 1991 when they had a tall athletic player named Williams and if I’m not mistaken they won the All A region.
Jenkins also had a very good team led by a guard named Conley back in the 1968 season. Maybe in those days they didn’t play as many games as nowadays.

I think his name was Johnny Williams. He could ball. Congratulations Jenkins on District Title!

Not sure of of the record, just saw on their Facebook page they tied the record after they beat Letcher Central in the first game of the District, they tied that 91 squad that won the All A Region.

Congrats Jenkins!!! Wow!!! Welcome back. To the 14th.

When did Jenkins get good

Congrats to Coach Winston Lee and his team, they fought back from being down 17 in the first half. Knott couldn’t score in the 2nd half other than chance amburgey but Jenkins never quit.
Also, this has to be even sweeter for Winston since lcc board fired him for no reason. The kids loved him at lcc but they decided to cater to certain families and now the team they would have had along with several other players that wouldn’t play cause of how Winston was done just won district at Jenkins with him. 4 starters and his 6th man all should be at lcc cause they played middle school at Cowan, whiteseburg, & Fleming neon. His 5th starter is from clintwood but it doesn’t matter, those kids played great and couldn’t happen to a nicer person in Winston. Huge egg on the face of the letcher superintendent and that BOE, especially since district this year was at lcc.

Watched the last 2-3 minutes of this one on the Hometown Sports Corner live stream, and man was it a classic. That game winning 3 Jenkins hit bounced around the rim at least 3-4 times and finally fell in. Idk if anyone seen the picture of Jenkins HC Winston Lee sitting with the district championship & net in front of a burning couch? They were going wild in Jenkins! Rightfully so tho, first district championship since 1995, and first appearance in the regional tournament since 2005.

They will play Powell Co in the first round of the 14th region tournament.

Will, Huff be fired? What has he done at his time at Knott Co?

Congrats to Jenkins. Let's not act like this Jenkins team is the same as the normal Jenkins team. Coach Winston Lee and staff has done a great job getting players and competing. But KCC was without a starter, if I'm not mistaken. Either was its a tough look for KCC. Not sure you fire coaches like Casey Huff. I believe the correct terminology is, stepping down.

Why would huff be fired??? He’s a got some talent coming up from hindman that’s won the state middle school tournaments so Huff isn’t going anywhere. Knott going to be a problem in the 14th for years to come when those kids get to hs.

winston lee deserves some serious recognition...................

With all due respect to Al Holland, Winston should have been named 14th Region Coach of the Year.

Congrats to Jenkins and Coach Lee. If Winston Lee is not the coach of the year than they shouldn't give one out.

I hope Knott keeps Huff.. but then again, they let the legend BB KING go. I wouldn't work for Knott County schools if my life depended on it.

He did not coach those teams lol... the way it looks and if it keeps happening, some of those boys will leave him and go play somewhere else. History likes to repeat itself.

Nothing. He will step down or be fired

Is hazard already recruiting them boys from Knott too? There was a big group of people that wanted Casey to replace BB and that happened, I think Casey is a really good coach and runs good sets so not sure who they would want if not him. Also, with recruiting that happens in hs I guess no one takes pride in playing for their home school. Hazard has already reached out to a player that’s going to be playing in the regional tournament but hs about to become college where everyone transfers every year unfortunately.
