If watts had any type of discipline or work ethic he would be the best player in the state. Right now he’s still up there but that’s just my opinion

Watts is very good at the point for Martin County, because they clear the lane with shooters waiting for a kick pass and if he can get to his right no one in the 15th can stop him from getting to the bucket.

I told everyone that Martin county was going to win the east ridge game. I was right. I told everyone that we was going to win the Pburg game. I was right. I told everyone that Martin county was going to beat paintsville and go to Owensboro. I was right. Also, Parker watts is 15th region player of the year. Hands down.
With that being said, Martin Co still had to do a better job at sharing the ball. Had very little assists tonight.
But at the end of the day, It’s onto Owensboro!!

Martin county has as good of a coach as there is in the region. First time I watched them since pikeville. Everyone always negative against them. They also have the best player in the region and it’s not close. That watts kid can play. They have some really nice defensive players and role players

Im not afraid to admit when I am wrong. Way to go cards. Hope you beat Lyon. Watts is a man among boys

Hands down.Martin county is the top team in the 15th no doubt I was wrong when I went with paintsville Martin county gots Parker Watts’s absolute stud. I don’t think they need to pass the ball more what I watched online. A few bad shots but that’s gonna happen on every team. If they play like that no one is beating them in the 15th.Maynard and Estep do the dirty work for them they can sit down and guard anyone.Dials is capable of scoring off the dribble.Watts best player around and region no need to explain there.

Davis struggled but is capable of scoring too probably best pure shooter I’ve saw this year in the 15th and they got one of the best coaches in the 15th if not the best.

Martin played great, as usual. They seem to never have a cold shooting night, especially Dials and Watts. Those two seem to hit every shot they take in every game.
I think you can’t underestimate the value of multi-sport athletes, and Martin Co demonstrates that perfectly. Football translates to basketball translates to baseball. Playing multiple sports benefits you at each of those sports. When you watch Maynard and Estep play defense you can see it. They’re just physically more dominant than any other players they play against in our region. They’re hyper competitive and they play to win. I love that. It’s a testament to Martin county athletics as a whole, not just basketball or football.
I’m a little confused with Paintsville’s game plan. It seems like they never made an effort to get Woods or Cole the ball in the paint. The only time they touched the ball was either on the FT line or the wing, which pretty much took their offensive strength out of the game. It looked like they were trying to win the game with guard play but their guards got pretty much shut down the whole game unless they flashed to the basket. Not that Paintsville’s guards are bad, but Martin’s perimeter defense is the best in the 15th.
Just think about this- Peyton Davis is probably the 5th best player for Martin right now, but he would be the best player on about half the teams in the 15th. That’s just how deep and talented this Martin team is.
Congrats to the cards on yet another excellent game!

Martin co is loaded with talent but Davis is a defensive player of the year and is their 2nd leading scorer on the team. Ain’t no way he is the 5th option on the floor.

5th best player is probably not the correct wording, because that wasn’t to imply that he’s the 5th option on the floor, but I meant something more along the lines of most impactful players on each and every possession. I think by the end of the year Dials will probably average more points per game than Davis and I think Maynard and Estep are both better defenders. That is in no way a snub on Davis. I think he’s a superb basketball player, probably one of the best in the 15th, and if Watts had stayed on the other side of the river then he probably would be recognized as such, but his team is just that dang good now with Watts. If he played for Pburg or PC or Pikeville he would probably average 25 ppg, but the way Martin plays with Dials, Watts, and Davis as the weapons makes them great all around him. Idk how else to say “5th most valuable player” on a team isn't meant as a snub, but it truly isn’t. As a senior I’m sure he’s extremely important in the locker room and he plays very hard and leads the team with his effort, but if I’m trying to stop the other teams best player then I’m putting Estep on him and if I’m trying to get a must have bucket I’m calling Watts number.

Davis has been Martin County’s 2nd best player behind Watts in the games I’ve watched against Tug Valley, Pike Central, Pikeville, and Shelby Valley.

also I agree with your previous post as well- playing multiple sports contributes big time. 3 starters play football as well, 1 starter plays tennis and runs track. Several bench players run track, tennis or baseball. It truly helps players be more rounded athletes.

A few days late posting about this one, but I was in attendance for it. Few takeaways.
This was my second time seeing Martin Co play, they're definitely the favorite to represent the 15th at Rupp come March.
Watts is the real deal, unless it's an off night or a team can come up with the perfect gameplan to shut him down, there's no one in this Region that can guard him. He does a lot of his damage in the mid-range and going downhill. He talks his shit too, a little too much of it at times. The potential is there for him to be a major college player, just get stronger and show effort on the defensive end, the offensive game is there, just has to keep putting in the work.
Martin Co obviously has Watts as their guy to go get a basket when they need one, but they have other options as well. But they're just so athletic at every position, and it's a tall task for any team around here to run with them, they get out in transition better than anyone, get a lot of easy baskets in full court press. Just like stopping Watts, it'll take a hell of a gameplan to stop them, let alone beat them.
As for Paintsville, this core has been together a few years now and only just sophomores, but this was the first time they have been on a championship stage, and it showed as the game wore on. They came out with a great gameplan, kept things close and was doing everything they could to control the pace of the game, Martin Co eventually sped it up some in the 2nd, but Paintsville held strong and got some key baskets to cut it to 5 at half. But Paintsville was just rattled after that, Martin Co went on a big run and never looked back. Was getting pretty ridiculous tho toward the end of the game, Martin Co up 20 with 2 minutes to go and still pressing, I guess it was to pad stats for Watts, he finished with 41.
Despite this loss, Paintsville is still a great team that's only going to get better, coach Slone will have his team prepared better than anyone else in the region. Congrats to Martin Co, ALL A Champs. They open up the ALL A State Tournament against defending State Champion Lyon Co who lost in the Finals of the ALL A State Tournament last season as well.
