Just both teams being teenagers really and it’s really the refs to blame.

First half Martin County wasn’t even trying, just jacking up 3s and not really acting like they were playing a game. Knew they were going to win big if they tried.

Kids talking crap and saying stuff to each other shoulder checking and talking during free throws. One player even started pointing at the scoreboard at the end of the game about 3 times refs never said anything. Two players continued talking during the free throws. Refs never stopped them. Kids getting tangled up and trying to act tough against one another refs never said anything. Martin County coach getting a technical up 21 with his player and a Pburg player got tangled up and they were tripping and falling all over each other right in front of the ref. Kids mocking the other team dancing on the free throw line while they were shooting free throws.

Just a terrible display of sportsmanship all over the place and not what you want to see with kids in high school competition.

Well I think that is a given that Prestonsburg isn’t great. If they play like they’re capable of, they can compete with anyone. You say Martin county didn’t play good yet they hit like 7 or 8 3’s in the first half. And why was that? Watch the film and watch Prestonsburg just stand there and watch them do it. Like they didn’t even put a hand up. I’m 100% baffled by what I watched tonight. If this is the effort you get, just forfeit the season and quit. Doesn’t look like many of the players would care anyway.

Martin county played one of their worst games of the season after having 10 days off and still won by 21. Pburg is better than a lot give credit and keathly is a very good player. 

Was there some questionable sportsmanship stuff down the end, yes. However a game that’s been jarred about between players for 10 days to stew builds up tension.

Martin co beat this team by 21 and played with ease. Heck half the time down the floor the cards just played one on one ball. Davis and watts shot lights out and Pburg didn’t know what to do. And it wasn’t that Pburg didn’t try, they just ain’t got much outside of keathley. You also can’t expect to win when you don’t even record an assist.

Beyond that Davis and Watts absolutely dominated offensively. But got to give credit to those other boys finding them on open looks. Had a couple of boys struggle a little from the free throw line and shot a couple of bad looks but other than that it was all good. Now it’s on to face our district rival in the championship.

Martin County wins by 7-10. Martin County is too athletic for Paintsville imo. The only way I see Paintsville keeping it closer than that is limiting 2nd chance opportunities for Martin County and eliminating drives.

Martin county seems to want to play at a franetic pace. They r going to run n gun and see if you can keep up. They did seem to be just toying with pburg. This game was never in doubt. I believe paintsville and martin county will be a great game Could go either way Those might be the 2 best teams in the region.

I agree 110%. Don’t get me wrong the way it looks right now Martin is by far the best in the region but I don’t think there is a single team in the region that a team should go into the game thinking that they don’t have a chance. It’s not like they’re playing the 96 bulls. If pburg competed tonight they would’ve made it a much better game. But congrats to Martin county because they’re playing some good basketball.

Couple of observations.  

Prestonsburg is better than they were at the beginning of the year.  Keathley is definitely worthy of the hype.  He is tall, a great ball handler and can score almost any way you need him to.  Prestonsburg also handled the press from MC about as good as any team has this year. The bad for pburg…that’s the worst 3 point defending effort I’ve ever seen. Peyton Davis got probably 7 wide open looks from 3. That’s uncalled for….hes one of the top 3 point shooters in the region.  The bad for MC.  I’ve watched a lot of their games this year, they always seem to jump out to an early 8-10 point lead and then start shooting 3s from 4 feet behind the line, playing sloppy defense etc. My prediction for the Paintsville game, if Martin co doesn’t cause 7+ turnovers with the press I feel like Paintsville can pull off a win.  I feel like Paintsville is the only team in the region that can rebound with them and they play unselfish ball. I don’t think Paintsville will try and push the pace either.  I like the cards by 8 but wouldn’t be surprised if they lose by 3.  I’m gonna call it MC 70 Paintsville 62.

I really don't have a dog on this tree but Pburg had just about as much fight in them as my wife's 17 year old 3 legged housecat.No perimeter defense and the body language,wow.. Not saying they would have beat Martin co but they sure as hell were not with that effort...
That said the Im not sure the refs cared either... A lot of childish posturing from both teams.. I expect some ego and jackjawing, that's fine, but much of this was not that, it was kinda childish... Im really surprised the refs let it go on like they did....
