Both teams did not shoot the ball extremely well, and the game was very ugly and sloppy at times. But Ashland still found ways to score, with Carter taking over when they needed. Boyd was completely out of sync on offense and Carter guarded Spurlock very well to where he couldn't get his usual looks. Holbrook played very well for Boyd, and I thought Clarke did for Ashland. Boyd's lack of depth showed a lot I felt like, as they had to end up playing a couple of kids that should have never been in a game like this.

Round 1 Ashland, lets see how Boyd responds.

Carter shot it well. I believe they said he was 14-19 from the field, including 7-9 from 3 point range.

Boyd County is obviously a better team than they showed tonight. Ashland, although not hitting on all cylinders shot the ball well. They were mentally prepared and when the shots started falling Boyd's concentration left the building and the snowball started rolling. I do feel tonight was a better representation of what the Tomcats can be when they begin to put it all together. Boyd was definitely affected more by their depleted roster than Ashland but it wouldn't have made any difference tonight. They just weren't ready to play.

Yes he was the only one that really shot well, he played like the best player in the region no doubt

Spur as they like to call him got his first bucket with about 30sec to go in the 3rd. Zander is night and day better and it’s not even close.  I would also bet after tonight’s game that Boyd’s team goes as Hicks goes. He is Boyd’s best player.

Side Note:  Listen anyone that has a kid in the Boyd co system that plans on playing college should definitely transfer immediately to Ashland.

I disagree Boyd has better Jimmy&Joe’s than what we seen tonight.  But their philosophy hasn’t changed since Coach A has entered Boyd Co.  I personally don’t think it will change. This is a very politically driven school and it shows with certain coaches. Being mentally prepared is a reflection of the coaching staff.

Wow, that is a beat down. Long season to go for Boyd but this either fuels them or makes them crumble.

They will beat up all the other teams, with the exception of Fleming Co. But unlike other years I cant see them beating Ashland in any of their meetings this season, mainly bc of their lack of depth

When Hicks comes back you will get a better indicator of what that game will be like.
