If KHSAA allows the Summer boys to transfer and then come back again (rumor has it he’s back after season to play baseball at Jackson) then KHSAA needs torn down. Be completely ridiculous! Also Clay beat Harlan City at Harlan last night. Really sloppy as first, Jones took out all 5 starters at first to prove a point. Second 5 ran for long time, looked good as well. Maybe Clay is deeper than originally thought…

This saturday will give an idea of what Clay is holding. I know SL 20 pieced em during the summer but the real season is now. Be a good game to watch. And I agree if the KHSAA allows any of those 3 that left Jackson because of a dispute with the coach and transfer without sitting will be a complete joke. But they did the same thing a couple of years ago with Chadwell, no residence change, played and then came back. So who knows, the rules are there but they a very selective in enforcement.

If they don’t start cracking down North, South and Corbin are going to dominate with recruiting. Whitley county as well when it comes to baseball. Feels like college football transfer portal in the 13th region right now.(12-06-2024, 10:04 AM)RichieMerchant87 Wrote: If KHSAA allows the Summer boys to transfer and then come back again (rumor has it he’s back after season to play baseball at Jackson) then KHSAA needs torn down. The 13th region is the closest thing to modern day college sports than anything else. KHSAA has zero control, NIL deals, transfers mid season with eligibility, a coach scandal every year, referees who coach at high schools in other sports or uncles/related to players. I’m telling you there’s more drama in this region then anywhere else and it’s all pretty much deserving. We deserve a documentary on some of this.

I can say 100% that their are 4 referees that I know have conflicts as you described and nothing ever happens. And the bias is blatant at times. The transfer situation is a every year thing. 2 schools in particular with others trying to catch up lol. Name for the documentary? "Balls and Stripes".

13th region always brings the drama, endless content for people like us lol I love every second of it. It makes rivalries mean more!

If summers is cleared that would change everything for knox. Before i thought barbourville could sneak up on them. Tigers are much improved. I like jasper hubbs and corey is playing well for them. I think chris taylor is a very good coach at barbourville. A lot of basketball guys around the 13th has told me that for 3-4 years now.. He has on average 70 boys in grades 9-12. Dinky worked wonders for years.

]BYLAW 6. TRANSFER RULE- CITIZENS OF THE U.S. AND D.C. AND OTHER STUDENTS PREVIOUSLY ENROLLED IN MEMBER SCHOOLS SEC. 1) DOMESTIC STUDENT TRANSFER a) Any student who has been enrolled in grades nine (9) through twelve (12) and has participated in any varsity contest in any sport at any school while maintaining permanent residence in the United States or a United States territory following enrollment in grade nine (9) and who then transfers schools shall be ineligible for interscholastic athletics at the varsity (first team) level in that sport for a period of one year from the date of last participation. b) Any student who has been enrolled in grades nine (9) through twelve (12) and has participated in any varsity contest in any sport at any school following enrollment in grade nine (9) who has been previously granted eligibility under the provisions of Bylaw 7 or Bylaw 8 and who then transfers schools shall be ineligible for interscholastic athletics at the varsity (first team) level in that sport for a period of one year from the date of last participation. c) The Ruling Officer and Commissioner have discretion (but are not required) to waive the period of ineligibility set forth above if one or more of the following exceptions in Sec. 2 has been met.
In reverence to the transferring without moving a reciprocal agreement comes in to effect. I believe that means they can transfer without moving, but must attend the school closest to the home address. But the Jackson kids were already enrolled at Jackson one was a freshman the other a senior, Doesn't matter what grade per the above rule from KHSAA website (9-12) Much clarity is need as to what the definition of participated is and what is considered contest. Scrimmage with refs and score kept, practice? I'm no legal Beagle. Maybe someone can define this more. Funny thing is i cant think of one kid boy or girl who has not gotten eligible when transferring to NL. That's a pretty good results for a school who doesn't recruit.

Was initially ruled ineligible by the county.....then they got a lawyer. Kid played the middle school season and moved back to Indy lol. The North system is always creative(perhaps I mean corrupt).

Does Mike Philpot's son still referee games? I always looked forward to Mike calling Corbin games. Mike called it fair and square.
