Sayre 27 Raceland 22
#31
Raceland will never win a title with Salmons at the helm. His scheming and planning has the team down 14 before they get off of the bus.

When was the last time a private school won Class A before this year? Asking for a friend.

A few weeks ago I said Sayre was the favorite to win Class A after they beat Pikeville and was told that calling them the favorite was a joke. The joke’s not so funny now is it?

im disappointed for raceland. they just werent ready to defend coffman it seemed like. i feel like i never watch raceland and come away with any individual player. that isnt a knock on them, theyre a great team ..but i never see a "star" and today sayre had one and the rams didnt.

Sayre beating Pikeville and Raceland is about as funny as a root canal.

Congrats Sayre, but what with 4:00 minutes on the clock on Sayre's 30 didn't Raceland run it down their throat like they did all game?

I’ve said it for back to back years that Sayre would be good. They was pretty good in 2022 as well. It’s not like they weren’t….

Congrats to Sayre. Called this from the beginning. I would never pick Sammons to win a big game. Especially not over Pennington. He fails time and time again when it matters. Maybe Raceland needs a new face at the HC position. This was their year… may not ever win one now.

I agree.  They were tough when we played them last year and made us earn that win.  While they definitely weren’t favored to win it earlier in the season I’m also not surprised that they did.

What impressed me about Sayre was how much their defense improved from last year to this year.  Coming into the playoffs everyone knew they could play offense but the defense was the question mark.  Their defense did exactly what was needed from them in this title run.
#44
Congratulations to Sayer but I hate for Raceland but all in all according to the people who know Raceland it was definitely a good year for them by the way has anyone seen RAD probably won’t until next year but if you read this Devil you are still 1 of my favorite posters

He needs to hire an outside hire as offensive coordinator and let them run that side of the football.

They do that with what they return next year they’ll be good.
#46
Had it not been for 4 huge critical moment penalties that all went in the Rams favor, well 3 and one that was blatant and not called, then this game would’ve been a Sayre win by 2 or more scores. They were the better team, the more explosive team the entire game.
Pennington may be the best offensive coach in the state, change my mind.
The Rams resorting to ridiculous trick plays was about as Raceland as it gets.
The drive to get them back within 5 is how they should’ve played the entire game offensively….run the ball, throw some quick throws, roll your qb out and give him the option to throw it or run it…..but alas same old same ol.

Also Coffman best player in single A and it’s not relatively close.

I’m a Raceland fan but I also call it how it is as well.  That last drive with all of the penalties almost felt like the refs were trying to give us the game.  Sayre had a solid game plan and executed it to perfection.  For Raceland this game just showed that the Rams just don’t  know how to win when it matters most.

Raceland has a great coaching staff but they are too cute x 100. Reminds me of Hal Mumme at UK. All the trickeration worked a few times at first but once everyone knew it was coming every game it never worked again. Drop the cute stuff and stick with your strengths over and over and over.

I was thinking the same thing.  I also thought the no call on Sayre's second to last possession which could've been pass interference or a face mask (take your pick) was the biggest miss of the game.  That missed call gave us our last possession and a chance to win. It just didn't happen. Congrats to Sayre, I've overlooked them all year. They beat both us and Pikeville, hats off.
#51
I really thought after Raceland got away with pass interference, that the football Gods were on their side and would pull this one off. The sack late killed those chances. The offensive line didn't hold up well today, even though they were much bigger than Sayre.
#52
Did Raceland get any sacks in this one?

Ol Beagle just wanted to say congrats tho Sayre!!!! You have saved Christmas for me again.
As for lambland, well who cares, I’m sure they already on the recruiting trail for next year. Savor the loss boys. You’ve made it a habit
Like to also give a shoutout to RAD, I’m sure you’re reading but not responding. Just hoping that you’re taking it harder than anyone else!!!!! You love to put down every other team other than the lambs, so I hope it burns you down!!!!!

I appreciate all the words from people who aren’t Raceland fans. There has been a lot of agony over the years and to go with a ton of what ifs. As far as this game goes…..Sayer was just better! They ran some really good routs and their timing on their timing routines where probably some of the best I’ve in in class A in many years. The Rams could’ve and probably should’ve been beaten by at least 14 to day. With that being said….was there more points to be scored today? Yes!! For sure. The only way Raceland was gonna win this game was for it to be a 42 -35 shootout with Sayer dropping a big pass or two. Yes the Rams could’ve put up more points if we wasn’t trying to control the clock so much. But in my opinion Sayer was better and better coached today. There’s no reason to go on about Mike’s playing calling because he is who he is and nothing is going to change. I’ve said it for years …..if you hear of a Raceland team winning a state championship you have better been able to watch them play cause they might be the best class a team you ever see cause they gotta over come a lot. I’ve seen the last three championship games in person and the team with the best player on the team won all three. That’s something Raceland has never had and idk ever will. Really proud of these young Rams. They’ve grown a lot this year. Next year should be another exciting year for Ram football. Once again congratulations to Sayer ….you was definitely the best team in Class A this year.

Pump the brakes. They came out of nowhere this year. Let's see how they do with a target on their back next year.

Not really an accurate statement, Sayre didnt come out of no where, just no one followed Sayre to pay attention.  You could see the progression the program was making, but it was against lower talent teams and no one really looked at them.
