It doesn't matter what your regular season schedule looks like!! The 2 teams that had the hardest schedules in 1A got knocked out of the crown.
So next time someone uses the phrase "cupcake schedule" bring up the 2024 1A State Championship game.

Yep, played conservative when they had the upper hand. Then when it seems the coach got what he wanted.... Ball in hand, do or die drive, Sayre on heels, worn down in 4Q calls a pocket pass play on 1&10 that leads to a sack that did them in. Roll him out if you want to pass or quick hitter, but never call a play you can lose more than 2 yards!!! Coached the entire game conservatively to get into that position then rolled the dice and failed big time.

Though I agree about scheduling, that tough schedule for Raceland probably did help them get to this point, cause they weren’t supposed to be here after losing everything they lost to graduation from last years team.

Sayre was better than most gave them credit for including me. Congratulations to them. I already see a lot of outcoached posts and Pennington is excellent on offense and will outcoach a lot of folks on that side and they tackle fairly well despite being undersized on defense. I am glad the missed pass interference didn't change the outcome. Sayre beat the 3 favorites to win class A. Pikeville, Campbellsville, and Raceland. They earned it. Those 3 will be hyped preseason next year as well. Sayre loses a lot of playmakers but keeps their lines mostly intact I think so if they have some upcoming talent or some transfers, they could be a factor again if Pennington stays there. His youngest son takes the reigns at QB next season.

I agree that was not a good play call.  They had time to continue to run it and were having success.  You ran it all game to get them tired for that moment and call a pass play from the pocket.  Bad time for a bad play call.
