Clay County's Legends Hall Grand Opening 12-2-24
#1
Sunday December 1st event, This is a pretty cool way to honor your heritage, I'm sure fans from everywhere will enjoy it.

This is the Article from the Manchester Enterprise Newspaper.

The much-anticipated basketball museum at Clay County High School will open on Sunday, December 1st.
Legends Hall, as it will be known, is the state’s first school-affiliated high school basketball museum.

A public ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at Clay County High School.

Superintendent William Sexton says the unique venue adjacent to the newly renovated gymnasium will capture the history of the storied boy’s and girls’ basketball programs.

“This will truly be an experience for Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball fans,” he said.  “We are the only school in Kentucky with 2,000 boys wins and over 1,000 girls wins.  This is a great way to honor our tradition.”

Doors will open in the gymnasium beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Visitors are to utilize the school's main entrance.

A small ceremony will be held before the grand opening.

Superintendent Sexton says the museum was only possible with the help of Board Chairman Mark Hoskins and the Clay County Historical Society.

“We sought out the knowledge of individuals that could help us create a quality museum,” he said.  “Society President Mike White and his wife LaBerta and Mark have played an integral role in bringing our basketball history to life.  They have a very successful museum, ‘The Clay We Were,’ at the historical society, and we wanted the same quality product they have.”

The board utilized Kraemer Design from Cincinnati, Ohio, the same company that designed the historical society’s museum, to create Legends Hall.

“Tom Kraemer and his staff do museum projects throughout the United States,” Hoskins said.  “They, along with Mike and LaBerta, have helped us create a venue like none other in this state, maybe anywhere.”

Sexton says all fans, former coaches and former players are invited to attend the event.

“We did this in honor of you, the fans, the coaches, and the players that made Clay County basketball the tradition it is today.”

Super excited to see the new museum! Seeing all the legends such as Richie, Bobby, Skooly, Kim Jones, etc will take me back. Go CC?

Anyone care to guess what Old School has in common with the legend himself, Richie Farmer? And no, if you are even thinking it, forget it, I have never done prison time.

What do Richie and I have in common?

Richie Farmer and Old School Hound were both born in Corbin, KY.

It's a pretty cool accomplishment, an amazing way to preserve the past, hopefully it'll inspire the next generation of ballers. there's a time and place for everything, Clay's upgraded anything involving a ball, recognized all the past glory, now it's time to get to work on the future. Potential is there, it's been a long time since Tiger Nation's been able to put it together a great team, especially when it mattered, in the games that really count.

I remember driving from Corbin to Lexington when I was, like, 10 or 11. My papaw sat right beside me but let me have the wheel the whole way. When I look back on that, it had to be one of the dumbest things ever. What was he thinking?

He thanked everyone for coming out and said the team isn't finished with what they want to accomplish. He clearly believes in his kids to get the job done. The team left around 3:30 pm for western Kentucky.

But old school, that's how they rolled back in the day, raised differnt by different MEN who didn't ask permission. I have to check with my wife on most things including grocery decisions. I wonder if your papaw would've called your mother to see if it was ok if he let your 10 year old self drive a little on the interstate....Of course not, asking permission wasn't and part of his repertoire.

Old School hound, sounds like you have it out for CC? What’s wrong red hound, too many memories of Richie destroying you back in the day? Hahaha it’s okay man, Richie did that to everyone. It’s nothing personal, just business as usual for the greatest Kentucky highschool basketball player ever!?
